  1. i5-4570k (now at stock clock). I tend to keep everything pretty clean so it's definitely not dust. I did recently switch from a MSI cooled GPU with two big side fans to a GTX 1080 FE with a blower fan if you think that makes much of a difference.
  2. @RAM555789 Noctua L9i for almost 4 years.
  3. I have a feeling that my CPU cooler may be on its last legs, but I wanted to run it by some other PC builders to see if there's anything I can do without buying a new cooler. My CPU hovers around 47-50C at idle and hits 80-85 under load (when I built my PC, I never had my CPU go above 70 under load). I'm sending max power to the CPU fan ,but it's only turning 400-500RPM even though its rated for over 1000RPM max speed. Any cheap fixes for it or will I be saving up for a new cooler?
  4. Thanks for the info. Hopefully I won't run into any more of those. I used to use Norton 360 ,but I switched to AVG because Norton kept doing random checks in the background and alt tabbing me out of games to tell me.
  5. I didn't even give it enough time to report it before I pulled the plug since RealTempGT was reporting some hot temperatures (55 at idle and rose to 65 degrees in about 20 seconds or so).
  6. It wasn't... this time. All joking aside, can anyone tell me what the hell I got infected with?
  7. Hey guys, I recently had a nasty run in with a suspicious torrent and thought I might start up a thread on here to see what kinds of scary stuff is out there. Any horror stories and general information on malware is welcome and appreciated. That torrent I mentioned earlier was like nothing I've seen before; it was a full file size (2GB or so) and ramped up my CPU usage and clock speed to max. Offline backups are the savior of my network on this one; ALWAYS HAVE ONE.
  8. After I reset all my setting back to default, it still does the same stuff. I'm really at a loss.
  9. I recently just replaced my old ATX build with a mITX build with the following parts: i5 4670k (not yet OC'd), MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr (non oc'd), Kingston hyperx blu ram (xmp profile 1), Asus Z87i Deluxe mobo w/ latest drivers, in a Corsair 250D. I've been noticing ,only in multiplayer games, that it will completely freeze for a few seconds (audio and video) and then be back to normal for a few minutes. I don't have this problem running single player games or other client side applications. I do have slight lag while browsing ,but I don't know if it's related to what is wrong while I'm gaming. I have consistently low ping (15-30ms) and only once in a blue moon does my connection drop entirely. Some help would be appreciated; I'll try putting everything back to completely stock and work from there. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  10. I was wondering if I should upgrade to a wireless ac router, and if I do, will I need to upgrade my modem? I have an absolutely ancient SMC router/modem 802.11g and it just isn't cutting it anymore; not with my families data usage. We have 2 tablets, 3 phones, 3 laptops, and my beefy (for an ITX) desktop rig with wireless ac built into the motherboard. Any suggestions? I am seriously clueless when it comes to networking and thought I'd come here to get this question settled. We have a three story house (technically 2 since the basement might as well be a thinly veiled bomb shelter). The wife insists on keeping the thing out of sight so I either need a really sharp looking piece of hardware or something that can reach through two interior floors.
