  1. So what I tried instead in the meantime was just taking out my GPU out of the system. Seems to run fine on its integrated graphics and can now probably safely say its the GPU doing something weird. Now that I know this though, I will put it back in and see if what you suggested helps in any way. Edit: problem persists after switching ports
  2. First of all, my specs: MB: ASUS Prime Z270-A CPU: Intel i7-7700k RAM: 16GB G-Skill TridentZ 3200MHz 2x8GB GPU: AMD Radeon rx 480 8GB Storage: SSD - Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB M.2 SSD - Samsung 860 EVO 500GB HDD - WD Blue 2TB Now for the problem.. For about a month now I've been experiencing what I initially think is a problem with my GPU. The problem is that after booting up my pc or waking up from sleep, there was about a 4/5 chance that my screen would just freeze on the lock screen or on reaching my desktop (sometimes about 5 min after booting) and then go black and my monitor letting me know it receives no signal. Once the pc does manage to boot there seems to be no problem and when playing games I don't notice any problems with my GPU's performance at all. Until now, my way of bypassing was usually to just keep resetting my pc until it booted without a problem. So in the end, I'm still not sure where the problem in my system lies. But my initial thought is the GPU as it is the oldest component in my system right now. Things I've tried so far: Reset the BIOS via the CMOS (I had XMP enabled from long before but disabling it didn't help either) Clean uninstall the GPU's drivers and reinstalling the newest drivers. Just giving my pc a clean in general Connecting to my GPU with HDMI instead of DP (no difference) Connecting the DP cable to my motherboard instead (the only difference this gave was when the screen does freeze, it stays like this and doesn't go black) Move my M.2 drive from the bottom slot of my motherboard to the slot under the CPU (no idea if this would affect anything at all either way) Now after I switched the video input to my motherboards DP port and I still get the same result, it kinda makes me wonder the problem wasn't my GPU in the first place so now I'm even more lost. Any input on my problem or any advice is very welcome! Thank you in advance. Edit: I removed my GPU from the system and booted it up. Seems to be running perfectly fine on the motherboards integrated graphics.. I guess I can conclude out of this one that the problem is definitely my GPU doing something weird. Edit 2: After switching the GPU from the top PCIE slot to the one below, it seems like the system runs fine. In the end I guess the problem was the PCIE slot after all.
