  1. Yeah, I hear ya. I may just wait and see what the recommended specs are before moving forward. Probably the best bet. As far as what I'm considering for now though, any thoughts? Thanks Mark
  2. Thanks for your reply. So you believe that bottlenecking would not be an issue with my i7-6700 k running at 4.5? Also, my mobo chipset is the z170 and I don't think an 8700k would be compatible. Correct? The specs say it's only compatible with series 300 chipsets. Thanks
  3. First time posting here but long time watcher of the Linus videos which were quite helpful when building my system back in spring of 2016. So, it's been almost 4 years and I'd like to do some upgrading to my system. I was originally thinking about just upgrading my video card first to an RTX-2070 S or 2080 S but i realized quickly that I may experience bottlenecking due to my current processor. That of course led me to thinking, well, I may as well upgrade that too because it may be about time for that also. Looks like my mobo only suppports 6th and 7th generation processors also so looking to upgrade that too now. Currently using a 24" Samsung 1080p HD monitor that I'm thinking I should probably upgrade to take full advantage of the new GPU. My current rig is as follows: i7-6700k - overclocked to 4.5ghz Gigabyte Z170-UD5 motherboard 850W Corsair Power Supply MSI GTX970 GPU Noctua NH D-15 air cooler 16 gigs of Kingston Hyperx fury memory Rosewill Black Hawk case Looking to upgrade for exclusively flight simulation and specifically DCS and the much anticipated new Microsoft Flight Sim coming out his year(which we really don't have any idea yet what kind of super computer we're going to need for this but I want to be as ready as I can.) At this point I'm considering an i9-9900k 5ghz processor, an MSI MAG 24C 144 hz curved monitor and an MSI RTX 2070 Super as I mentioned above.I just don't think you get much of an improvement moving up to the 2080 S at this point . As far as a mobo, I'd take suggestions cuz I really have no idea. my absolute limit on all this is about $1300-$1500. I'd so appreciate anybody's thoughts on what I'm considering. Thanks so very much. Mark
