  1. I have just seen the benchmark of those 2. And I am a little bit confused: https://gadgetversus.com/processor/amd-ryzen-threadripper-3970x-vs-amd-ryzen-threadripper-2990wx/ The different benchmarks state multicore score is between 30% - 116% different depending on the test. Where does this big gap come from? How much performance difference will I have? Because When I have 116% less performance than obviously the 3970x would be the better choice!
  2. Ok you convinced me! Thank you very much you do now know how glad I am currently! Do you guys still advice air cooler to this one? BTW this forum and you guys espically are great So much information so quickly !
  3. Hey yes, that looks interesting indeed! Would 4 of that one be better than 3 of mine? How big is the performance difference?
  4. Ok good to know! Than Ill forget the AIO! Any suggestions for the best Aircooler? What is about the custom loop? Yes it is for that: https://www.piosolver.com/pages/technical-details I will need very big soltions trees tho that is why I want good pcs now. I have spend 4k last couple of months on renting server and I jsut figured out its better to buy them myself! About the quadchannel ram - the ram only get used to build "the tree initially" after that the CPU is working till it is solved. So I am actually not that sure if faster ram will improve performance a lot (also I read in their forum that ram does not increase solving time at this point only faster CPU will) How can I find out if it is quadchannel ram? Need it to be sold in a pack of 4? ^^ is this for instance quadchannel ram? Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 MHz Can I use quadchannel ram also split up? Lets say I want to have 96gb ram so I would need 6x 16gb ram, will it work?
  5. Hey yaboistar, thank you for your advice! Is a big air cooler suitable for OC? How to make a custom loop? What do I need ? How much performance do I get out of it? What will it cost? Sry for all those answers but I am really new to those highend pc stuff ! Thank you for the answer. loliufg
  6. Hey guys, I am working with a software called PioSolver. It is a poker software which needs a shit tone of CPU. Therefore I want to get as much Power for my money as I can possible get! The Server will run 24/7 and I want to overclock it. I have 2 GPUs left (660ti) which should be more than enough. (I essentially only need it to start the pc and than only CPU will be used anyway) PioSolver can only handle 64 threads (therefore 3990x probably is not that good even tho I could disable hyperthreading and only loose about 10-15% of speed according to them) Budget: around 10000 Euro. Requirements: 64gb ram. Overclockable so good cooler I guess. Best CPU for money avaible. GPU does not matter. I have a friend with more knowledge than me which suggested the following: (I would be buying 3 of each) CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970x - Is there anything esle with better price / power ratio? I was thinking about the Ryzen 3950x and buy more pcs than But I still thing with everything else needed its probably cheaper to stick to the ryzen 3970x. Cooler: Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB AIO CPU-Kühler - what AIO cooler can you recommand? Is there a better one that this one? Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3000MHz - is there better ram? should I go with 3200 MHz? Is it worth additional 30 Euro per 32 GB? (6 in total so 64gb for each pc) Powersuply: be quiet! 500w with CM. - I am not sure if 500w is enough tbh. I have heared the 3970x can consume like 450 itself when OC. So maybe go with 600 or 700w? Case: Thermaltake Level 20 MT ARGB Mid Tower/Tempered Glass/Mini ITX/Micro ATX/ATX - Idc about the case tbh. It should be big enough, cheap and have a nice air flow. Do you have anything better than that one? Mainboard: ASUS Prime TRX40-Pro Gaming Mainboard Sockel AMD sTRX4 (ATX, DDR4-Speicher, PCIe 4.0, M.2, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Typ-C, Aura Sync) - TBH I have no clue about mainboards. That is just what I got recommand by him. Is it ok? Should I get something else? From my research it looks like a lowbudget one but formyself I neverunderstood why spend more than whats minimum on mainboards GPU: I only need 1 because I have 2 left. Which one can you recommand? As I said it should bassicly just as cheap as possible so I can get the pc started. I was thinking about maybe buying one used to save money... I am very thankfull for any advice! I am looking now already for a few days and since it is such a large sum I just want to make sure everything is right! Best regards, loliufg
