more than likely it will have what you need but that is a lot of screws for the 1 you need. i would spend a little more time looking for it before spending the money. depending on where and when you lost it, its probably still inside the case under the motherboard.

what is the prebuilt exactly? most of the time its the same screws you would take for the one panel to work on it. other times it's riveted to the frame so you cant. and good to hear it came with one, that is kind of surprising as most dont.

it is a good idea to verify that it is not in the case and depending on the case, it should have a "back panel" panel behind the motherboard that can be removed and seen if the screw is there. a screw that size can get into places you do not want it and cause your system to fry itself because of a short. so if you are ok with the 30 minutes you spent looking then ok, I would just make sure that it wasn't in the case. plus you don't have to undo all your cable management, either one at a time or knowing when you stood the case up it would fall to the bottom of the case.

tdkid got a reaction from Strobel in Explain like i'm 5 what a bunch of chilren on reddit think they'll achieve with this group tantrum?
i dont know how to respond to this because its just so far gone. you post what seems to be a ranting comment about people on reddit and why you left and then came here expecting everyone to be completely different and no one a troll? do I have this right? no I am not trying to troll you, is this honestly what you thought because I can understand what you wanted. i have left a few groups based on what you said in your first comment but I have been doing my job for 20 years now and all the name calling, insults bad attitudes with everyone online just makes me laugh because the ONLY reason why they are saying it is because they are behind a screen and know you cant get to them thru it so they tease you, to push your buttons. the best way to deal with that is to leave it alone and literally leave. those people act like bullies and the more you show them the more it empowers them. as for me, like I said, I was joking with someone else. i have been called every name in the book more times than I can count. i have been threatened, beaten, nearly killed as many too but I am still here which means its a good day.

as for the people on reddit. i would suggest reading some of the instant karma or malicious compliance stories. they might get you in a better mood. as for the ones throwing a tantrum, you have to remember it was literally that people now cant spank their kids, its seen as cruel, you have to punish then by making them think about what they did but all they learn is that there are no consequences to their actions so they do more, bigger and badder whjch eventually leads to prison or death, maybe both.

but to answer the topic. they think they will achieve getting what they want, which is typically the shut down of whatever they are currently standing against and that issue is that people would rather let them have it to stop the tantrum then tell them no and to go F off, its literally a reason for all the "Karen" stories on reddit.

oh its the fact that i asked a simple reasonable question and everyone here seems to think that the only people allowed to be here are the ones who know literally everything there is to know about computers but if that was the case then why have this place to ask questions and get answers? you people who seem to think you are so much smarter than me should probably just leave this place, create your own forum and post the answer to every question anyone could ever ask.

my foundation? dude i asked a simple question that seems pretty reasonable in that someone who says they have a highly skilled job is going to know the basics of that job or something similar to that job. for this. the person works with computers that means that its a pretty good guess they like working with them and have done other things with them. otherwise its literally just a paycheck and if that is the case, why are you still at the job? on average my non-computer-based job can have me making anywhere from 10k-500k a month depending on what I need to do.

yeah i get that but you would kind of think that in your first day of computer science or whatever class you need to take to get the cyber security job, your professor would make fun of you asking something like "so why are you here if you know nothing about computers?". after they ask who in the class has never worked with a computer before.  especially when the person whos job it is, is to prevent things like people gaining access to areas they are not allowed by using coding. you would think that a simple error as in a failed or failing hard drive would be easy to explain to anyone that they simply need to replace it and download their OS.

hello. i am not sure if this belongs here or in off topic as it is and is not about computers.

in a discord group I am talking with a man who claims to be in his 40s and works in cyber security. what I want to know and why I am not sure if this belongs here is, don't you think that having a job in cyber security, you would pretty much know the ins and outs of computers to know that someone is not going to access something they are not supposed to? i am asking because this guy claims that cyber security and knowledge about computers parts and what they do is completely different. i kind of get what he is saying but what I mean is that if someone had a part fail due to a software or hardware issue, then the person in cybersecurity with their much more knowledge on how to prevent something, should at least know the basics of how to repair a computer?

for example. i lost my PC a few months ago to the FLTMRG.SYS error. i asked them about it and they had no idea or at least pretended not to know. it turns out that the FLTMGR.SYS is easy to fix as its a fail in the storage device where the OS is stored and you will need to get a new one and redownload the OS.

edit: these comments below are why I was asking. i can build a PC all day long with no issues but I don't know much about software which is where I thought someone who worked in cyber security working with it all day would have been able to help me figure out that the code I saw was that my storage device failed and I would need to get a new one.

personally i wouldnt just move everything over to another drive because you are going to run into the same problem later when that one fills up. i would get a second much bigger drive than then transfer over everything except the OS and leave that on the first drive. not only will this clear up space for OS updates but also allow your computer to run faster as i have heard that you dont want to load your SSD over 75% as it will start to clow down then.

did you buy these from Seagate or from a 3rd party? either way, i would contact them telling them that they sold you defective products and you want your money back when they tell you no. contact your bank telling them to issue a chargeback against the seller and give them this file as evidence. i would also contact the BBB (better business bureau (US)) or the equivalent in your country and tell them about the seller.

no just no. looking at your videos that have been linked to your profile pic, you know old tech even with never having experienced first hand. a desktop CPU had a better chance of being put in a laptop around the time as your xps 1210 then it does now. sure they say the same like i7 12700hx or ryzen 7 7000 but the CPU is smaller to not only fit better but to fit with our more portable electronic lifestyle. and its actually more of that its a CPU microchip and not.

according to MSI, your board has pcie gen4 so a pcie gen3 or gen4 m.2 will work. you would just have to put it in the top spot to be read as SATA1 probably moving the remaining storage devices you have to the SATA2 and lower ports in the pc.

well looking at the specs for the Asrock X570M PRO4 which i guess is your MB as you have 2 listed. you have 3 m.2 slots.1 M.2 (Key E) For WiFi and the other 2 are 1 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4 x4 & SATA3), 1 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4 x4). so i am guessing your m.2 wifi is taking spots 1 and 2 if being used, 3 for the top spot and possibly 4 and 5 for the bottom one. you might want to look into SSD expansion card that could look like this
doesnt exactly have to be this, just an example as there are many different ones.

the only way i can see that will work to make your server quiter is to put it in another room. linus did something like this with his server in which it was in a room where he surrounded it with foam on the walls to dampen the sound of it and had it with its own intake and ventalation to make sure it still had moving air to keep it cool.

i will quit talking out my arse when you pull your head out of yours first. take a look again at some of the low budget cases for less than $100 and motherboards for less than $150. i had an apivea x hermes case that came with the 19 pin connector and it had 2 2.0 ports and 1  3.0 port on the front panel. many cases are getting away from using the 9 pin USB headers because many motherbords are now supporting "up to x 3.x ports" so a 19 pic can do a 3.0 or 2.0 port easily.

there is no such thing as cable management. what i am talking about is you can place the cables of inside your computer, the cables powering it, your TV, or any other cables you can think of, all nice, neat, and organized and somehow a few months later you will find yourself tripping over them. put them where you want again just to be tripping over them again later and the process repeats. this is happening more to me now more than ever even with most of my stuff being wireless.
