tdkid got a reaction from IrshaadH in Vertical GPU mount recommendation for Lian-LI o11 Dynamic XL?
there are several things you need to consider when picking a vertical mount for your GPU. one is do you have a second GPU because if you do then it will not work at all because the mount and card will cover the remaining PCIe slots. another thing is can your case handle a vertically mounted GPU in both physically and location of the card. you probably know these already as it is why you are looking but in case you didn't.

I have heard that a lot of people like either cooler master or Thermaltake vertical mounts as they are easy to install and the PCIe cable that comes with them is better quality over others.

I don't know if this is what you need to do or not so ask around a little more before you do it.

I have heard that someone had this issue and they solved it by removing the batter that is on the motherboard for a short amount of time (like 10-30 seconds) and then putting it back in which caused a hard reboot of all of the bios systems and they were able to reinstall what they needed. the problem with this though is the error code 43 is a wide variety of problems from simple like you just need to restart the system to the complex or hard where you have to replace the motherboard or CPU because its fried and everything in between.

well Adrian007 already said "also the cpu will be (INTEL Intel Core i9-9900K 8-Core 3.6 GHz )"

so only thing really left is the GPU unless its not the last thing

so @adrian007 when choosing the GPU you want. make sure it can physically fit inside your case.

if you are going to buy a new GPU and motherboard. I suggest you look at these two things for GPU comparison.

tdkid got a reaction from Dieter.koenig in Nvidia Quadro 2000 not working after reapplying thermal paste
since you are in computer science, you will probably know more than be but if your motherboard has a monitor port on it, then you should be able to connect it that way on a very low settings and see if it will allow a system boot up so you can see what the issue code is, or start is safe mode. DDU the old drivers and reinstall them.

that is just my guess though.

well let me guess. you ordered used parts from Ebay, amazon and etc. from people who were not gigabyte, EVGA, msi etc. etc. right? those people are required to send it out but no time limit as to when they have to so best to avoid them. if you don't want to wait too long then order from one of the manufacturers like I listed above as they will usually send it out the next business day.

take a look at these two links as they should help you pic a GPU that fits into what you are looking for.

sorry. I forgot to add that this first list only gives what the manufacturer of the card and what line it is like the Powercolor: Red Devil it doesn't mention that is a 5700XT card which is in the $500 range. so you will have to look up which one sounds good to you and then make sure it is the one you are looking at and want.

well that is fine. its up to you either way but 9/10 times now you will not void the warranty if you were to do this because companies have been coming out now with more and more water coolers which require you to take the card apart to attach the cooler. the EVGA water block for instance. if you are going to RMA it then, I hope you have another GPU ready as its going to be at least 3 weeks (unless overnight it) until you get it back.

error code 43 is temps too high. if you take the card apart I bet you will see the thermal paste dried out and cracking. clean it off, put some new paste on and you should be good to go.

you are welcome for the info. I did my first build in Nov. of 2018 and kept only the GPU and CPU cooler from the computer I replaced because both worked and the CPU cooler was actually bigger than the one that came with the CPU. I just recently changed my GPU because the old one I kept starting failing on me so I decided with the 2070 super. EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER FTW3 ULTRA+, OVERCLOCKED, 2.75 Slot Extreme Cool Triple + iCX2, 65C Gaming, RGB, Metal Backplate, 08G-P4-3377-KR, 8GB 15.5GHz GDDR6

make sure you take a look at that list because on that list is has the gigabyte as a
and the gigabyte as a Tier C Midrange (good PCB, midrange cooler)
    Gigabyte: Gaming OC
    and the asus as a
Tier D Low-Midrange (okay cooled cards, decent enough pcb)
    Asus: Dual

well did those builds have the fans in the front of the case? that takes away some of the space for the GPU. you can remove them for a bigger space but then lose airflow into and out of the case. if you are not having an issue and can wait, then it probably is better to wait for the next series of cards but the "release" date a lot of people in the tech industry are mentioning is more likely to be the announcement that they are going to be making those cards and then its still going to be months or a year before they actually hit the shelves. not to mention the delays because what is going on right now. and I personally don't think its going to be worth it unless someone comes out with a truly 8k display but then again my current card will handle that no problem as I just got a RTX 2070 super yesterday.

alright then let me ask you this. are you or are you going to water cool the system or air cool only? I ask because with your case, you are basically going to be limited to "founders" edition GPUs (i.e. linked below). these cards are usually about 30mm shorter than what your case will allow so they will fit. the problem with these cards is that they are also hot running, normally 60*C at idle. if you are going to water cool then you can pretty much buy any card you want as the bulk of the card is the heat sync and the fans. and they do make after market water coolers for these cards like the hydro copper from EVGA for 20XX series cards.

can someone please explain to me how this person is trying to sell this GPU if he doesn't have a power supply to test it, he didn't plug it into his motherboard, the fans spin end the card lights up, it also displays a please power down and plug in the pcie connector, if they don't have a power supply? do not walk away from this RUN. this is a scammer trying to sell you a broken card that is not worth the plastic its printed on.

tdkid got a reaction from Kyatto in When to buy a new GPU?
for picking a new GPU, you need to consider 2 things above all else. the 1st is what is your budget for it and the 2nd is will it physically fit inside your case. I personally just ordered the EVGA RTX 2070 super FTW3 ultra+.

watch the video and look at the list linked below to see if there is one you like.

if you are waiting on the AMD or Nvidia next gen of GPUs then you might be waiting a while not only because of the virus going around but also because its a better than average chance that the "release" date of them is just the announcement that they are making those GPUs and from there it will usually be a few months or a year until they actually hit the shelves.

yes and no. yes there is a difference between the two cards but most of it is the aesthetic. is that the entire name for both or do you have exact links to the ones you are looking it? I am asking this because there is a section here that I will link below all of this that will all you to see a list of GPUs based on the PCB and the cooler that they have but that list is a little vague.

that depends on what you are planning on doing. most 2070 supers recommend a PSU of at least 650w but usually don't draw more than 250 at most so your PSU will work but for hard core gaming it might need to be upgraded.

this is the list I was talking about. you might know about it already but if not then its here for you.

the 30XX series is not going to be out soon in what they are thinking. the "release" date most have been hearing about is more than likely just the announcement date that they are going to be making those cards and then it will still be months or a year before they are on the shelves because every dealer that is going to be selling them is going to need a stock for them and that is all over the world which takes time. not to mention what is going on right now slowing everything down to a crawl.

HDMI to HDMI, HDMI to DP or DP to DP, the cables will work so there is no need to worry. older or newer cables will work with anything that has one of the three listed above because its literally just an electrical signal from the GPU to the monitor. I am currently using a cable I got from my first xbox 360 (2008) as a cable from my computer to my TV as I have that as my monitor so no need to worry.

it should work as the ports on the Powerlink can be slid as you have seen in the video. and its a Geforce card made by Nvidia just like the RTX GeForce cards are from EVGA so it should work.

this is the link to the Powerlink and you can see just about the pics it has a list that has compatibility on it which shows all the EVGA cards its compatible with. https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=600-PL-2816-LR

i have only had 2 computers so far. a prebuilt i got from best buy and then one i bought parts for from best buy to replace the prebuilt one years later, which include the PSU, RAM and motherboard, and then i relatives such as my dad and two uncles who all know about computers as my dad worked for a company that fixed and monitored the computers at gas stations that controlled the pumps and tanks. and my uncles who one is the only person in the world who does what he does for computers on the oil rigs all over the world (don't know exactly what he does as i haven't talked with him in years after moving away when i was 7) and my other uncle who works with the computer programs. so i think i have a good source of computer knowledge that can help me out when needed.
