Hello all,
so I have a MSI GL Series GL75 9SFK-1228CA https://www.newegg.ca/black-msi-gl-series-gl75-9sfk-1228ca-gaming-entertainment/p/N82E16834155333
I've been experimenting with undervolting the CPU and managing the turbo limits.
This comes with a i7 9750h
Right now, I have all 6 cores hitting 3.90ghz at -150mv
It sticks to 3.9 all cores and doesn't thermal throttle, according to aida64 with a stability test. max temp = 92, 95 being the throttle
Now, if i drop this clock down to say, 3.6ghz all cores, it will provide additional thermal maneuverability for the gpu to stay in turbo.
So now my question is, as a gamer, which will showcase the larger benefit?
1. A CPU running at 3.6ghz at 80c and letting the 2070 go max turbo with the additional thermal space
or
2. A CPU running 3.9ghz at 92c and limiting the amount of time the gpu can turbo due to the thermal limits or the laptop
I plan on testing more, but I haven't had much time lately to fine tune, due to working 10 hour shifts
Thanks.
