  1. Hi all, I finished the rig and it works perfectly!
  2. Not unless your running something that is likely to cause data corruption. @Den-Fi's suggestion was good to run it in a VM. If you'd like to keep it to your Mac then keep backups on an external drive. My take on it is, the only way I could see it being damaged is if either have constant read-writes and cause either memory corruption or hardware malfunction (which backups are always useful for) and are unlikely in the first place if you haven't got a huge amount of access to it 24/7 (if you do I'd purchase a VPS since it's hardware designed for that sort of scenario).
  3. I can't think of any issues that can arise just from being hosted on a Mac, (quote me if I'm wrong, always love to learn) with anything it depends on how secure you set it up; From what I know it's down to what your standard practice is for example: password complexities, storage encryption, user login handling, etc. If you were in a corporate environment I'd recommend a Linux Server or Windows Server to host it with either ADFS, or OpenID Authentication. But if it's just for yourself or a small group of people then go for it, just keep an open mind on how secure you set things up such as passwords. (I run Nextcloud on Ubuntu Server so I'd like to know the differences in regards to security if there are any)
  4. Just looking to record internally and use the Tablet as a way just to monitor what I'm recording I shouldn't surpass the 30 minute mark as most shots I do are pretty rapid (1 minute max)
  5. Haven't got loads of money but after reading up about the Nikon D3200, it seemed to be an excellent fit for what I needed. Anyway so my issue is, I've purchased a Nikon D3200, Fire Tablet (Gen 5), and mounts etc. I've got USB OTG working between the two but for what I need is video recording. If I can pull this off then it means low shots aren't going to break my back. What my original plan was to use a Fire Tablet, setup DSLR Dashboard use an USB OTG link and away I go; But down to either software or hardware limitations (not much information on this subject) I can't record while using a USB passthrough. My next plan is this, I've ordered a mini hdmi to hdmi cable, if I can record while it is connected via hdmi,I then want to get hdmi conversion that will passthrough to the tablet with as little delay as possible (want to limit the number of conversions it has to go through). As I'm recording directly to the camera I don't mind a downscaled resolution on the tablet (720p is what I'd prefer as a monitoring resolution). TL;DR Using android tablet as field monitor, usb otg doesn't support recording, hoping hdmi does and wanting to get hdmi input to android tablet EDIT: Found a cheap converter and method of passing through to the tablet, fingers crossed that I can record with a live hdmi connection! Thanks, CWDev
