    Windows 8 > 10

Would she need to make a USB? Or can she just download and mount the iso? I've only ever installed via usb so idk lol

    Windows 8 > 10

I have a friend that lives about 5000 miles away and she wants windows 10 on her laptop. It currently has windows 8 (gross). She knows absolutely nothing about computers. Would it be as easy as hopping on teamviewer, putting in a windows 10 key instead of 8, and letting it update? Or would I have to make a win10 usb and all that?
  3. performance wise yea, but it was more of a budget thing unfortunately
  4. That's what we ended up doing. He's picking up a 2060 super instead it was a brand new build with a fresh install of windows. I tried a few different versions of drivers, used ddu to remove each one
  5. I'm doing a new build for a friend and everything was great until I went to install the display drivers for the 5700xt. I've tried different versions of the driver but each time, it makes the monitor go into an "entering power save mode" loop. Any ideas? I'm lost
  6. I recently got an ssd for my laptop and I couldn't clone the drive since the hdd was 1tb and the ssd was only 500gb. I fresh installed and got everything working good, formatted the hdd and when I restarted, it still said there were 2 windows 10 to boot from. How to I remove it?
  7. I made a super basic batch file to save all the file names of my movies in my movie folder to a txt. I have everything working except 1) I don't know how to have the movielist.txt save to the .bat file location instead of the movies folder 2) I just realised it's recording the name of the subfolders instead of the files in them I've tried googling the answer but I think I'm not wording my searches correctly because the only results I can find are how to make the batch file output a txt, not change the save location. Here's the code that I have: @echo off cd Movies dir /b > movieslist.txt I would like to have the batch file output the file names in the folder (Movies) and subfolders and save the output txt to the folder the batch file is currently in. I am very much so a novice when it comes to batch files, the extent of my experience being launching minecraft with more RAM. Thank-you in advance for the help!
  8. Ok awesome. That's what I figured but I wanted to double check. Thank-you!
  9. I'm guessing SED's are more PnP now?
  10. So I recently got a refurbished Acer Nitro AN515-42. Not the greatest gaming machine but it was cheap. I wanted to upgrade to an ssd so I tried to put in a PM961 I had sitting around only to find out the laptop doesn't support nvme drives. So I go shopping and end up purchasing this Micron 512GB SATA m.2 drive. It has a conformal coating which I thought was cool and FIPS 140-2 L2 Validation which I didn't know much about but the price seemed like a decent deal. Now, being the not so smart person I am sometimes, I started doing my research after I paid for it. Came across this tech quickie video from 6 years ago where he said the tricky part about SED's is finding out if your laptop is compatible. Does anyone know if that's still true? I've tried doing some research but it's been difficult trying to find an answer to my specific questions. Will it work with my laptop?
  11. Huawei seems to really want to get to the top with this move. If the articles sources can be trusted, this will (hopefully) make the big boys sweat a little bit. Up to 50% but I wonder what the average preservation rate will be. Also, Does this mean they will try to get away with extremely small batteries to create smaller, lighter phones? Or will they be making a nice big phone with a long battery life? Makes me wonder how this will effect the thermals of the phone with all the processing power in one area. Maybe Linus can build a DIY heat sink for them?
