@ringmasterAs i stated try one stick of ram at a time, one maybe at fault.

you may be a genius. I tried one stick in slots 1, 2, and 3 and computer would still not boot after restart. Tried again in slot 4 and it worked! Other stick of ram is now in slot 2 and so far no problems.
