  1. Ah, so it's basically just fancier words for 2nd and 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs kinda? Thanks for clearing that up for me, I get it now. So I don't even have to lower the memory speed down to 3200MHz manually in the BIOS? That's great! I'll follow your advice and put together the entire PC first, and make sure that I enable XMP in the BIOS. I'll hold off on the Infinity Fabric thingie, as I don't really know if I need it or should use it at all if it's just some sort of overclocking thing. However, depending on the version of the BIOS, I might still want to update the BIOS later on, and if that should be the case, is it recommended that I format the system drive and re-install Windows on it after doing so? I've heard that if you make changes to your computers hardware, like installing a new GPU, it is best to format the system drive to make sure that you remove all traces of old graphics drivers and such. I'm just wondering if that's the case when updating the BIOS as well? I'm going to start putting the PC together now, and hopefully things will go smoothly. Thanks again for all your help APasz. I feel a lot more confident about what to do now!
  2. This is one of the reasons that I might need / want to update the BIOS. You see when I ordered the Memory sticks, I got a notification from the online-store that the speed of these Memory sticks (3600MHz) exceeds the speed supported by the Motherboard (3200MHz). Now this is where I get a little confused, because when I look at the Motherboard manufacturer website, there are multiple QVL lists for Memory support. This one shows support all the way up to 3200MHz https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_x570-aorus-elite_pinnacle_191231.pdf This one shows support all the way up to 4000MHz https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_x570-aorus-elite_matisse_191231.pdf Does one list show the Memory supported for the Motherboard out-of-the-box and the other shows Memory supported after BIOS update? This is why I was wondering if I can update the BIOS before installing all the components, as I don't know if I can use the 3600MHz Memory sticks with this Motherboard before I update the BIOS? What exactly is XMP. I understand that it's a sort of profile for your Memory or something? If I enable it, does it automatically set the Memory timings, Infinity Fabric and such to their optimal values based on your system, without going overboard and into the Overclocking territory? I do want to get as much out of my memory as possible, while at the same time staying withing a stable configuration for my system, to avoid the system crashing frequently. The first time I built a PC, which was about 5 - 6 years ago, I just installed all the components and loaded default settings in the BIOS. So it's possible my Memory from that build never ran at full capacity, which is what I would like to avoid this time, to make sure my Memory is running at full capacity. Also, thanks a lot for taking your time helping a newbie like me, I really appreciate it.
  3. Good evening! I'm new here, so I apologize if I posted this in the wrong section of the Forum. I'll try and keep this short and simple. I'm about to build my second PC ever on my own, and this time I would like to update the BIOS on the motherboard. This is something I've never done before, and frankly, I'm a bit scared about doing this, as it is my first time. The motherboard is a Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE. I got a USB Stick formatted with FAT32 with the BIOS update files on it already. But what I would like to know is, when is the recommended time / order to update the motherboard BIOS when you build a new PC and install the components? I've heard that you can do this before installing all the components into the new PC. So I'm wondering, can I just install the PSU + Motherboard into the case, and then just boot it up and update the BIOS, no need for the GPU, Memory or CPU to be installed? I also bought 2x G.Skill Trident Z Neo 16GB DDR4 3600MHz CL16 Memory sticks, and I'm a bit confused about this "Infinity Fabric" I've heard about. I read that the recommended memory speed for Ryzen 3700X is 3600MHz, but that you need to set them to 1800MHz or something along those lines for Infinity Fabric, and I'm not even really sure what this Infinity Fabric is or if I should just enable this XMP thingie in the BIOS I've heard about? I would also like to point out that I have never tempered with RAM Memory before either, so this is also a new territory for me, but I feel like this time I would like to take things one step further and learn more about these things, as they seem pretty important. I'm not really interested in Overclocking and pushing this system beyond the boundaries, I just want to get as much out of my memory without going off the chart, so that the system is quiet and stable. If anyone here could help clear some of these things up for me, I would be really grateful. Also, keep in mind that I'm really new at this, so my knowledge is pretty limited compared to you guys.
