  1. I have the same motherboard and CPU - though I'm using G.Skill 3600 MHz RAM. When I enable the XMP profile, the memory speed in BIOS does not change from 2135 MHz or something similar. However, when I boot to Windows and check the memory speed using CPU-Z, I see 1800 MHz, which I understand to mean that the chips are running at 3600 MHz... I'm running F10 BIOS.
  2. Thanks - eventually worked out that the USB had corrupted. Was then able to do a clean reinstall of windows, which fixed the issue. I'm guessing that there was a driver incompatibility...
  3. Hi All I have an inaccessible boot disk error - when it bluescreens it restarts. but nothing then happens. I cannot get the system to enter automatic repair and attempting to boot from the USB disc that I used to install windows does not work - set bios to use the usb and . system is running: AMD Ryzen 3700x Asus Rog Strix GTX 2080 super Gigabyte Aorus Elite Wifi motherboard Gskill 16 gb x2 3600 MHz boot disk Samsung evo 970 500gb Any help appreciated. Thanks
  4. Thanks all for the comments! Will probably go for the 2080 Super...
  5. Hi Folks I'm putting together a PC for the first time and I've now ordered all of the components apart from the graphics card. Is it better to go with the planned GPU now (RTX 2080 super) or go with something a bit cheaper that will still perform well and wait for the next gen of cards to roll out? I'm thinking of a Radeon 5600/5700 XT (assuming that the new drivers announced take care of the majority of the issues experienced in the forum). Thanks for your comments!
  6. After many years of using an iMac, I'm changing back to a PC. In part, because I want access to more games and also because my wife prefers PCs (and her laptop is on its last legs). We'd like a 4k-capable monitor that is capable of some light photo- and video-editing, as well as being able to play games at a decent frame rate (RTX 2080 Super and Ryzen 3700X). A local option that caught my attention is the monitor below from a local company (Armaggeddon), which states that it operates at 60 Hz at 4k and 120 Hz at QHD, all for USD 325 (SGD 449). Does this seem reasonable? https://www.lazada.sg/products/armaggeddon-pixxel-efx-27uhd-switx-4k2k-up-to-120-hz-27-inch-gaming-monitor-i329680895-s705884056.html The other option that I'm looking at is the Acer Nitro XV273K, which is currently available locally for around USD 770 (SGD 1,062). The XB273K is also available locally, but at a hefty premium (USD 1,077, SGD 1,498). Thoughts appreciated!
  7. Thanks for the comments! Managed to get the case and one of the suggested power supplies from Sim Lim Square. Will be ordering the other components online shortly. With that, I'm wondering if I can simply use the stock cooler to begin with?
  8. Hi I'm looking to build my first PC and provide an initial list below - comments on what I can change/get rid off appreciated! My budget is around $3,000 SGD (about $2,000 USD) for the PC itself (no peripherals) and it will be used for gaming (AAA titles) as well as some very light video editing and photoshop (or equivalent). I'd like to have the option to overclock, but that can be done later. With that in mind, the water cooler might be overkill and I wonder if that money might be better put into the GPU (2080 Super?)... By the way, will a PSU bought from the US be compatible with Singapore's 230V, 50 Hz power supply?
