  1. I think i found the solution to this problem @Doromir, @Koolnerd7. Try the following: Login to your FreeNAS Nextcloud jail via shell. The username of your NextCloud admin account is in the file "ncadmin" and the corresponding password in the file "ncpassword". You can use this credentials to login into your nextcloud website. (See Screenshot attached)
  2. How about a SynologyNAS like a DS218? They are very easy to configure and have a build-in DynDNS service, if you want to access them from somewhere else.
  3. Is it a fresh installation of FreeNAS? Maybe try to start over with a new installation of the plug-in. I haven't encountered any problems with the installation of NextCloud. The NextCloud version you find in the plug-in section is obsolete, if I'm not mistaken. Another possible solution could be to install it yourself. Create a new jail and start from there. I guess Google can help you with the instructions. Or take a look at this. HTH
  4. Running FreeNAS requires you to run a 64-bit processor with at least 8 GB of RAM. I highly recommend using ECC memory. A single bitflip can harm your whole filesystem, making you loose all your data. Maybe a ryzen 3200G or some 1st, 2nd gen Ryzen - cause they all support ECC - or something similar. Most Ryzen (except the "G" ones?) require a dedicated graphics card, like a GT 710, which you can get for cheap. If you are going to run ECC memory, your CPU and motherboard need to support it (check the motherboards documents for supported ram kits). You can also dramatically increase your performance with more ram, cause the way ZFS / ARC work.
  5. Prices are higher here and i'm not a friend of used drives. And if you export your freenas config file (System > General > Save Config) it take max 10-15 min. reinstalling FreeNAS and importing that config file. It also saves up to 2 sata ports. The USB devices are always running mirrored But of course, a ssd should be more durable.
  6. Im currently running FreeNAS with 2 USB Sticks running in mirror configuration without any problems, which helps you saving some sata ports as well. There are a lot of tutorials helping you with that. If im not mistaken, the R5 1600 doesnt have integrated graphics. So you need a seperate graphics card in that case, if you want to access your nas for e.g. installation. If you want to run it just as a backup, there is no need for that much horse power. Maybe a AMD processor with integrated graphics would be the better choice Please also consider using ECC memory.
  7. Hey, I had the same "problem" a while ago. I didn't get it to work properly. Have you considered creating a virtual machine running an OpenVPN Server on your FreeNAS (1core / 512MB RAM). This was the best solution for me. I am now able to access my shares from everywhere using my iphone and/or other computers.
