  1. good point there... i dont know why i just like this dual CPU boards and want to experiment however you are right i might have more trouble and spend more money on this than just using a ryzen that is faster lol... edit: i just found this combo: ryzen 1600 G.skill aegis ddr4 3000mhz cl16 16gb (2x8) msi b450a pro max mATX for 68 euro lol So i guess its a lot better than messing around with opterons and boards ect
  2. Hey guys, so i decided to build a home server and googled up a fair bit about xeons like the 5506 ect can be found for dirt cheep but i figured id like to go on the AMD side with the opteron family, so i have found this opteron https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Opteron-6348-2-8GHz-Twelve-Core-OS6348WKTCGHK-Processor/153772146061?epid=131636979&hash=item23cd88bd8d:g:-MoAAOSwePpeAKLi thats like 40$ and id like to buy a motherboard for it too now however im having some thoughts about the PSU as i can see dual CPU boards need 2X 8 pin conectors and the standard 24 pin as an example i chose this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32885472788.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.29243ff9w69FEz&algo_pvid=015e23c7-3482-4bf1-89a3-49bc7fa3038c&algo_expid=015e23c7-3482-4bf1-89a3-49bc7fa3038c-46&btsid=0ab6d67915819747007342097e7988&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ So now about the psu i have an XFX PSU in my gaming pc this one: https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Single-Modular-Certified-P1850BBEFX/dp/B00B88Z0LM/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_pdt_img_top?ie=UTF8 And it has a lot of connectios i can use, would i be able to combine another 8 pin cable out of all those conectors on it if i had the exact same PSU or a similar one? Would that power the board as it shoud? or is there some kind of a problem/difference with it... Keep in mind the server will be used as a game server on one VM and as a NAS on another... So i guess the load will mostly be as a simple game server... Any help and info is welcome! Thanks!
