I need help with deciding which CPU to choose: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Ryzen 7 3700X?
Also, RAM recommendations would be great. I know AMD likes fast RAM, so I would go for something that is 3600MHz and CL16 a 16GB KIT.
GPU...well everything is out of stock so I have no idea. I was thinking about AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or 5600XT ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I am in need of advice and help regarding my build for creative work - I want to learn sculpting and animation. Programs used will be Blender, Adobe Creative Suite and Unreal Engine.
Could you please recommend a PSU, GPU and monitor? Also, feel free to correct the parts list. It is not finalized yet. My budget is around 1500-1600€.
Monitor should be IPS and 4K. I was thinking about the AOC U2790PQU 27", what are your thoughts? Would this do the job?
Regarding the PSU, will a 550W be enough or should I go for a 650W?
The one thing I cannot really decide is if I should go for an NVDIA RTX 2070S or AMD Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 5700 XT 8G OC? I am sort of waiting for the prices to drop after the new releases in September....

    What do you recommend?

    Thanks in advance.

Crucial is a Micron brand. I have a kit of ballistix sport LTs, E-die 3000cl15 running 3733 cl14. Would definitely recommend (though get the 3600 cl16 kit)

VivienMatthews reacted to Quackers101 in GPU and RAM recommendation needed for finalizing build
oh yeah for the ram, 3600 is something to go for if you get a newer CPU.
Might be as good for that CPU too, don't remember but you might get more out of it with the 5000 series. (where it can like it even higher)
Not sure if you would need more GB of ram, not been into such workloads as much.
Right now the 3700x might have been the better choice, but not quite sure. Think it's at least a better choice for now?

3700 is nice for such workloads and if its at a better price than others.
    700W should be fine.
You could wait on GPU if you want, the RTX 3000 series or AMD's new ones, there will be even lower priced versions like maybe 3050 and 3060 (non-ti) if that works.
Really depends on what comes and if they will be affordable in your region.
If that is less of a priority than older GPU's could be an choice too.
B550 can be a nice board for future CPU upgrades.

For coding and blender etc, a strong CPU or more cores can be nice and having the option to upgrade.
Unless you see an older threadripper or intel on sale, might not be quite what you are looking for.

VivienMatthews reacted to Slyceth in How to choose a monitor: What information to know, and where to find it.
I'm glad you link this for everyone, but it's a very confusing way of portraying the monitors. The average person does not need to know all about which budgets contain which monitors (everyone knows that more expensive=better and that 500$ is the best balance) and most people know what pixel response time and input lag is, and you link this post to people who are just looking for a recommendation, not a wikipedia article about monitors.
I recommend just updating this with recommendations in each budget and resolution+refresh rate.

    For example 450$ = Dell s2721DGF (Nano-ips) (165Hz)
    Alternative 400$ = LG 27GN750 (Nano-ips (144Hz) (sRgb mode)
    etc.

As it now stands, this post is useless for the 70% of people finding this after you link it in their recommendation post.

thanks for the tip, I think this is an awesome monitor for the price. Right now there is a deal on it at one of the retailers in my country and I could get it for 290€ instead of 360€.

Since you're using it for content creation and I guess you don't wanna spend a 1000$ on an expensive 4K display this one would be a good choice IMO.

the 5600x and the 3600 cl16 at least, and get a 650w psu, and if you can get a 5800x in there it would be much better, as for gpu, try for a 6800, otherwise a 3070 or even a 2070 super, but overall a good build

If you can wait until the RTX 3070 is back in stock it would be awesome paired with a Ryzen 5 5600X (or wait for the 5600 and save some money).

Unfortunately I haven't kept up with non-gaming focused monitors.  Just got my Odyssey G7 and it's pretty good so far.  That being said, LTT just released a review on ta LG monitor a few days ago that might suit your needs.  4k, HDR600, IPS and pretty good colour calibrated panel.

i don't do 3d, but i highly recommend the Ryzen 9 3900X for obvious reason, it has more 4 more cores, which is serious upgrade from 3700X in multithreading tasks, you can stick with 3700X if your budget do not allow that, 3700X is good enough. For PSU, upgrade to 650W or 750W should be plenty for future upgrade.

for GPU, if you're not in a rush, you can wait for RDNA 2 or RTX 3000 series. i think they worth considering.

Go for a 650w if you can, it should give you enough headroom for a GPU and CPU upgrade in the future, like a 3900x class CPU or a xx80 series GPU.

I would say the 2070S, as CUDA has more support in development tools (IIRC).  Would whatever you're doing need more than 16GB of RAM?

the b550 boards will be cheaper with similar features, so if you can wait, go for it.
the cpu cooler is adequate, but gets pretty loud under load. i've changed mine for the gelid phantom and now my pc is completely silent.
in terms of storage, depends on your requirements, how much stuff you have/need.
what i personally would advise is a 1tb nvme for windows, software, games and 1-2 projects you're working on and  a 2-4tb hdd for the rest of the stuff you use less often, media files etc. that's what works for me.
for case, aim to get one that has a mesh front, so the airflow is good.
for gpu, i would chose between 2060 super, 2070 and 5700xt, depending on prices, they are pretty similar. the 5700xt is  a bit better in terms of pure performance, while the 2060s and 2070 come with nvidia features.

Unless you need pcie 4.0, or you need blazing fast memory, x570 is usually a lot more expensive than b450, you could buy a 150-200 dollar b450 motherboard, and be able to afford a 3800 xt when it comes out. Also you should swap out that 5400 rpm drive for a 7200 rpm one.

the first build looks good. patriot is fine. cpu is more important for rendering and video editing, so go for 3700x instead of 3600.
    patriot is fine.
i think we'd need some links to the shops you plan to buy from in order to recommend specific white parts.
msi b450 mortar titanium is a white mobo. similarly asus x570 prime-p has white accents. i think there is a gigabyte oc white version of the gpu and there are crucial white ram sets.

I'm not sure that I agree with the 3600 downgrade for content creation that's been suggested.
For software that's doing workload processing, the 3700X has a lot to offer at the price point.
For Zen 2 you're at the sweet spot with the 3600mhz CL16 RAM. If it were more affordable, you may see more benefit from 3200mhz 32GB.
There is a performance difference at 3200mhz, but it's not large.

I do agree that the CUDA cores are a benefit in most processes. If you can fit nVidia in the budget, I see no reason why you shouldn't.
You can check out the GPU Tier List and compare the coolers within your budget. You don't have to take advice at face value.

The X570 Tuf Gaming is a great choice on board. Typically the wifi version isn't much different in price. I can't speak to your local pricing, though.
The favorite is definitely the Meshify C or the Cooler Master H500.
For something more budget friendly you could look into an MX-330, a Focus-G (which lacks a PSU shroud, but has good natural cooling), MB600L, P300.
