  1. Thanks for the replies! However, it seems i'm greatly limited by my PSU and mobo. Its a non ATX (whatever the oversized buttersticks are called) @ 240w... I'm not even sure it has the connectors for a newer, beefier card. Seems the board only gives 35w for the Gcard itself, too so an 8-24 adapter likely won't cut it. Looks like I might have to start from a different platform altogether. But still, thanks for the replies and recommendations. If anyone happens to have a... non-ballache workaround let me know, but ill likely be browsing the build discussions
  2. So, I'm looking to get back into some "light" gaming on my PC. I've been an Xboxer since early 2006, but i was an avid PC gamer up to that point. Unfortunately that is moot now as i have no idea where to begin upgrading my current desktop. Full disclosure: it was purchased from a buddy's E-scrap shop. All is OEM save for the GTX 745 which may have originally come in the case, or was pulled from a parts bin and the RAM which was definitely pulled from a parts bin. Specs Optiplex 7040 i5-6500 3.2Ghz 3192Mhz 4 Cores 16GB Ram Anything else relevant or helpful provided by inquiry Looking to spend $150 - $250 on a GPU upgrade and currently looking into Gigabyte's GTX 4G 1650s, but i'm very rusty with my PC-building knowledge and also frugal. This isn't meant to be my main gaming peripheral, but i'd like to get some decent FPS while, say, playing (a lightly modded, by most standards) Skyrim on one screen and watching twitch or youtube on another screen, or something similar with older/NOT a new release AAA. So a few Q's: Are all cards PCIe now? Like, if its not specified, do i assume PCIe? ~~I think my PSU is 350w, maybe 400w (i'll look and edit later when im not actually using the PC). If you recommend a card, do i need to upgrade my PSU to match no matter what?~~ Its a standard desktop formfactor, so these big cards with their cooling should fit universally right? Obviously anything is going to be an upgrade, but i'm not aiming for playing Doom Eternal at max settings, streaming it and watching others stream it all at the same time on the same PC. Keep recommendations reasonable, please Thanks! Edit PSU is 240W and the micro/mini FF. Seems its a no-joy. Bummer
