  1. Thanks for the help and I really want to move my Plex to Linux. I tried overserr now I found a discord bot called Requestrr that works pretty well. Yes I have a domain name and it's a local PC(server). We use WhatsApp because everyone else uses it tbh. And I can sense if I try moving everyone to another app I'll get even more WhatsApp messages asking how to do something on the new app . How did you move your Plex install to the Linux environment?
  2. Hi Everyone Looking for some help with my server. So my setup is running on Windows 10 because I'm comfortable with that. I have my Plex running all good, I've set up Sonarr and Radarr to get all movies and series I was missing. I'm setting up Ombi so that I can access Ombi from anywhere and that friends and family can request series and movies as the constant WhatsApp messages are driving me crazy. Now the process to get Ombi working remotely is a nightmare. I have it working on the server but cant access it remotely. I've can't seem to figure out how to install Nginx and the relevant domain name and DNS for it. I am a complete newbie to this so baby steps. Thanks for all the help.
  3. Hi so I have headphones that has a built in mic but my PC has 2 seperate jacks. When I use one I get audio but no mic and when I use the other I get on mic but no audio. I have a ASRock Pro btc + What should I do?
  4. Sorry supposed to message the above as a reply
  5. For example I saw warzone being played at 120hz at 4k from YouTuber Jackfrags yet no RTX 3070 was able to do that.
  6. Hi so I'm genuinely torn as to which to choose and here's why I really only play a few games a year around 5. Based on the last year its been Warzone and multiplayer, Bloodborne, AC Odessessy, AOE 2 DE, and Red Dead Redemption 2. So I've seen benchmarks of games run on the PS5 and on RTX 3070 and it appears that for most games run at 60fps at 4k on PS5 which is roughly what the RTX 3070 can achieve. I will mostly play at 60fps and 4k as I play on TV and don't really want to get a monitor. My build for a PC would've been a Ryzen 5 3600 16gb DDR4 RTX 3070 In terms of pricing in South Africa the PS5 is roughly 750 USD and the PC would be about 1250 USD. So is PS5 crazy optimised such that it makes up for its weaker GPU compared to RTX 3070 ? Can anybody give some insight on which to choose and why ?
  7. In South Africa I surprisingly found someone selling it
  8. But a 3300x will be in budget so that should be better
  9. But in South Africa those parts cost considerably more 3600 is $268 Ripjaws is $90 Similar Motherboard is $115 So that's like 91 (1400 Rand)dollars over
  10. Yes this would be ideal but the price difference between a b450 and b550 is about 1500 Rands so it'll just put me over budget
  11. Budget (including currency): 19000 Rand Country: South Africa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Only Gaming at 4k Other details: What I have already: 800w Psu, Case, Ssd and HDD Why only 4k: Well I don't have a monitor but do have a pretty good 4k LG TV and I'm more of a couch gamer. If I do get a monitor in the future it'll be a 1440p monitor. What do I need: Cpu, mobo, ram So my budget is strained so based on local pricing a RTX 3070 is 13000( $800 USD because of local taxes and customs) So I have around 6k to spend on cpu, mobo and ram. I can go 3300x,b450 and 16gb ram for 6k and if later upgrade to Ryzen 3600 or something. Or I can go i5 10400f, b460 and 16gb for 6k as well. From what I understand is that as resolution increases CPU performance is increased only by a bit while GPU increase by a lot. So as I will never be 1080p gaming. I should be okay ? Why don't I go last gen GPU and better CPU ? So I saw lots of reviews and I don't want to use last gen GPUs cause it's still really expensive (2070 super more expensive than a RTX 3070) so the economics don't work. What do you guys think ?
  12. I will enable it via DHCP that I saw on some how to guides.
  13. Hello and thanks for your help. So let me explain my current internet setup. I have DSL internet (no fibre available) and have it connected to a modem/router combo(router 1) unit which is connected via ethernet to another router(router 2) to act as an access point for better WiFi upstairs. My Plex server is connected to router 2 via ethernet cable. How can I access Plex from router 1 locally? I can't enable remote access on Plex because I have bad upload speed on my DSL internet. Thanks for your help
  14. Hi So I have to get a new router just because the WiFi signal is poor in my house. So I was looking and I saw routers ranging from R400($30) to R1500($100) and most of them talk about speeds like 833mbs and speeds way higher than 100mbs. I have a 20mbs DSL line. I don't have fibre in my area as yet so this is best I can get in South Africa at the moment. I want to know if there's any reason to go for any router higher than the $30 router. Yes I understand that the more expensive routers may have better signal but I would guess the $30 provides enough signal coverage and they both have similar protection. I'm resistant to get a pricey router given that my low DSL speed won't be able to utilise any features that are found on expensive routers. Thanks
  15. Yes and in SA that support is far worse cause our carriers first add their rubbish to the update before they roll out an update or if they just don't care to share the update, A friend of mine only received Android 10 with 1 UI last week for his S8. While the update was available for months around the world.
  16. Thanks I was going to say the exact same thing. Tbh I didn't even know that LG and Sony were still in the smartphone space in SA cause it's not even marketed.
  17. Thanks for your input guys. Just as a side note so you can understand the struggle. In South Africa there is no Apple store per say as all Apple devices are sold via resellers. The most popular being iStore. Just to give you an idea of pricing, from this store a iPhone 11 Pro Max 64gb which is roughly $1100 in the USA costs about $1600 in SA. And the absolute horrible pricing doesn't stop there for apple. Samsung also hates us as the new s20 Plus is about $1450 in SA.
  18. Preowned authorised apple phones is not really a thing in South Africa. My buddy has a short stay in the USA so I doubt he'll be able to score a preowned device.
  19. Yes the reselling idea also crossed my mind given that Samsung Galaxy phones value depreciate like crazy compared to apple
  20. So this is going to be a noob question for a lot of you here but here's my issue: My laptop has on average 35% CPU usage from Service Host: Network Service and it really is annoying cause it causes the fans to ramp up at times when it needs to be quiet (while I'm in the Library at University). I read online it may be looking for an Update for Windows but I paused all updates for Windows for 7 days yet it still occurs. Any help or tips will help greatly. Thanks
  21. I'm currently indifferent to OS as I have had both Android and iOS in the past. I just never had the latest of either in the past 2/3 years so I'm not sure which device has improved the most since then and looking at them in a store doesn't give a personal account of the device compared to someone who owned it (S20 just got released but a Note 10 would be sufficiently comparable). Given the exchange rate some of the phones you guys have at the 500€ mark is more like 850€ here. The only phone that maintains relative normal pricing is Samsung and as for Apple I can get one from USA because a buddy will bring it so the cost is comparable. With regards to other android phones mentioned OnePlus doesn't not Operate in South Africa and even if I was able to source one I would get no warranty or cell phone insurance (Insurance company will only insure android phones that have an office in SA). With regards to Xiaomi and Huawei etc their skins on Android is not to my liking and I'm a bit paranoid with those companies. FYI Google Pixel devices are also not available in SA and the insurance issue.
  22. I'm looking at my next upgrade to be a Samsung s20 Plus or the iPhone Pro Max. I don't want the ultra because in all honesty I don't use my phone camera that often and I don't have 5G in South Africa. I want to know from you guys what you think?
