  1. That's a bit outside the wheelhouse I'll be working in, but maybe one day!
  2. Thank you! I was planning on looking into metal filament, that one looks pretty nice! Do you know what specs I need to look for in a printer so I'll be sure it can handle something like this?
  3. So, going into the new year, I got my local game shop owner to agree to giving me shelf space for some 3D printed hobby accessories! I've had a few designs in mind for a while, so this is going to be really awesome! I'm trying to comb through to find the right printer, but I'm drowning in buzz-wordy Christmas ads. I'm looking for a decent printer that can work on a 8" cubic volume. One of my main products will be non-randomized dice, so I'm looking for a material with a bit of density, or the ability to pause mid-print and add a small weight. I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give, hope everyone's x-mas is going well!
  4. Just bought a used LG Folder 2 for a side project. I want to put Spotify on it, and it runs android 8.0, but it has no app store and keeps blocking me from sideloading. Specifically, it says that the admin doesn't allow installation from storage, then, when I go into the settings and click "allow installation from storage" it says certificate not valid. Could use some help!
  5. Like it says on the cover, one of my fans died on my 570 and I need a replacement. All the ones online use a 3-point mount for the screws, but the stock use 4 screws. Anyone know a good place to get them? Sorry if this belongs in troubleshooting!

  7. Budget (including currency): $1800-$2200 Country: U.S.A. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Overwatch, lot of random multiplayer games off of steam, learning some coding, video editing, 3d modeling Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So, I had the intention to build a new PC for myself in 2021, in the Phanteks P500A DRGB. Then, when it arrived early off of backorder, I found out that it can fit not just an ATX system, but also an ITX system mounted inside the top. So now instead of leaving a spare PC around for my LAN parties, I'm going to just have a (albeit not exceptionally powerful) spare pc inside my main one! I'm really hoping to find some advice for thermal management and overall tips on a dual-PC setup. The rough goal for each system: ITX system (*based mostly off of hardware I already have) CPU: Ryzen 5 3600* Motherboard: Aiming for B550, with 1 or more m.2 slots RAM: 16gb 3600Mhz CL16* GPU: RX570 8gb* Boot Drive: 1tb NVME storage* Bulk Storage: 4tb+ HDD space ATX system CPU: Ryzen 7 5800 Motherboard: Aiming for B550, with 1 or more m.2 slots RAM: 32GB 3600Mhz CL16 GPU: Asus TUF RTX 3080 or something from AMD's line Boot Drive: 1tb NVME storage Fast Storage: 2tb of SSD storage Bulk Storage: 4tb+ HDD space*
  8. A web show I like is doing open auditions for a couple of characters, and I'm planning on throwing my hat in the ring. For now, all I have is a USB condenser mic that came with my Mic stand. It sounds really good to me on playback, although there's a noise floor I set the recording volume in windows to be above ~75%. The thing is, everywhere I'm looking for tips on voice recording says "NO USB MICS! NOT PROFESSIONAL! IF YOU USE A USB MIC FOR VOICE ACTING, I WILL COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND SH** IN YOUR CEREAL!" /s I want to know *why* they're so bad, but everywhere I go for explanations, it's just voice actors yelling about how bad USB mics are. I'm really trying to find out what is it that actually *makes* them that bad? Is it the connection bandwidth? The frequency range? Noise floor? What is their technology missing that is important in professional work? I really want to know, and I can never find an answer. Anyone here got one?
  9. ngl you end every post with "..." and it's really bugging my brain
  10. Yeah, I might do that if I can get a decent deal on the power supply, but I'm trying to give them 80+gold and some wattage headroom to upgrade the GPU later, and prices still aren't great for PSUs
  11. Thanks! I actually have one friend looking for just gaming, and one who's starting animation&modeling classes next semester, so looks like I'll build one of each. Appreciate the breakdown!
  12. that's not really a relevant answer.... I'm looking for advice on the part selection, not a compatibility checker, I'm already using that
  13. Since the R3 3300x is available just about nowhere, is it worth it to pay $110-$120 for a R3 3100 instead? I'm putting together 2 low-budget systems for a couple of buddies, and I'd hoped to get them the 3300x, but it's ofc never available. I don't know too much about how to shop for cheap on the intel side, so if anyone has some tips on that I'd be very grateful!
  14. I appreciate it! I'm mostly going to use it for Overwatch, that's my main game these days, so if IPS is needed for curve to look good, I'll probably just stick to a flat TN panel for the response time.
  15. Ok, that makes sense. I'll try to see one in person first then, thanks! saved me a 2am google, my man, you're a hero
  16. Like I said, 1440p @ 144Hz is my goal, and then I'll have a 1080p75Hz on both sides of it. I'm also planning on upgrading my gpu around the end of the year, once both brands new cards are out and a little tuned up
  17. This is a pretty solid list, a pretty good mix for value/performance! I do have 3 suggestions: -You can definitely get an NVME ssd in your price range without losing any value/storage, like this one It's a couple of extra bucks, but you get a nice speed bump and its easier to install - just my preference -Liquid cooling an i5 isn't really going to grant you a big bump, you could do just as well with this air cooler here. Making that swap could let you upgrade to a 1660TI and get a bit more power -Your case only has one included fan, and if you end up looking for more, Deep cool sells this set in a 5pack or as a 3 pack, both kits come with a nice fan splitter and the RGB daisy chain together. Other than that, if you think you'll ever want to do multi-threaded workloads, consider Ryzen Good list dude, and good luck!
  18. Gotcha, but does the same apply to 27'? That's the size I'm probably going for, so I don't have to buy a new mount
  19. I'm considering going for a curved monitor at the center of my 3-monitor setup later this month, because my friend told me that you can experience wider FOV's in games more easily. My other friend warned me that there'd be an adjustment period switching to a curved monitor I'm wondering if these are true, and I'm open to reccomendations (looking for 1440p / 144Hz w/ freesynch)
  20. That's kind of what I was looking for, but whenever you type any combination of "cache" with ''nvme" or "ssd", searches just bring up endless pages about how to use NVME as a cache for NAS. Do you know where I could find something like that?
  21. Again, I'm looking specifically to learn about the technology, not for products at this time, but thank you.
  22. Thank you for the advice again, but unfortunately, the reviews don't really answer my questions. I'm not looking for answers about a product so much as about the technology itself, hence bringing my questions here. And I want to know less for my own usage and more so that I understand.
