nightmarevoid reacted to OhioYJ in I need advice on sticky switches and flashing LEDs
As for them sticking if something got spilled on them or in them, it might be hard to clean them completely without taking the switches apart. After completely cleaning them with alcohol you may need to apply lube to them. Depending on the type of switch will depend on where and how much.
Personally it sounds like replacement switches are in order. Switches are relatively cheap, so trying a switch or two to see if it fixes the issue isnt a big deal if it's a keyboard you like. It's what I would try first. Honestly I would replace the switches rather than taking them apart even.

nightmarevoid got a reaction from Deadpool2onBlu-Ray in Does Halo Infinite have sword/weapon parries?
I remember back in the days of halo 3 that a really well-timed weapon melee could actually parry a sword, similar to a sword/sword parry. Thing is, I can't tell if it's possible in Halo Infinite, and I don't know if that's because of the game being buggy or if it's because they still haven't brought that feature back. Super random, but does anyone know?

Double Helix :

Fan Grill :
I found one, but it's uk based.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152479580889

Just curious, isn't watercooling usually just use transparent one and then color the liquid ?

nightmarevoid got a reaction from Linus No Beard in Anyone know of a good multi-player game that is not pay to win or copy paste crap that I could play with my dad
Warhammer Vermintide 2 is free to keep on steam right now. It's kinda like Left 4 Dead, in that it focuses on co-op play against hordes of enemies.

nightmarevoid reacted to shadow_ray in Simple C code would not compile because of matrix with variable length
Interesting. What happens if you set the standard to -std=c99 or -std=c11 ?
Edit: I compiled this code with gcc 11.3.0 under WSL (ubuntu) and it works just fine, but some versions of C only allow const size arrays.

nightmarevoid reacted to WaggishOhio383 in I need to RMA my corsair PSU, what am I in for?
Looks like all of them except "Corsair" and "Corsair Blake" are. If you look at their profile, the real ones will have the "Industry Affiliate" tag.
Though most of them haven't visited the forum in a while...

My first case was an In-Win griffon, so all of my computer names have been [military rank]_WIN
I am currently on YEET_CHADMIRAL_WIN

nightmarevoid reacted to PorkishPig in Aurasync and iCue fighting for RGB control
If you want to write settings to the onboard profile, you'll need to use Hardware Actions and Hardware Lighting Effects instead of Actions and Lighting Effects. Once you write the profile to your Onboard Profiles, any modifications you made will take effect once iCUE has been closed.

I work IT at a company in Mountainview and once I had an older gentleman give me his laptop for a few small fixes with his Wi-Fi, and when he gave me the laptop he pointed to the internet explorer Icon on the screen and said, "That's Yahoo, don't delete that."

nightmarevoid got a reaction from JTsmooth in I need help with my RAM :(
In my experience XMP is extremely temperamental. I've never heard of it killing ram though. I think you should go into the bios and factory reset it, or at least reverse all XMP settings, then shutdown the system and unplug it and reseat the memory (just pop it out, make sure there's no dust in the slots, and put them back in). Then see if the memory is being recognized. For what it's worth, you do only need 16 GB, or even 8 GB, for a decent rig to play dota and even stream or edit.
If that works, then manually enter the speed for the memory instead of using XMP. If there's an option, also set the CAS latency to be correct and voltage (all info should be on a sticker on the side of the memory). If the motherboard has options for automatically adjusting CAS and voltage, then use those, but definitely set the speed manually.

nightmarevoid got a reaction from cr8tor in computer says my fan is running at X speed, but its either 0 or 100%
I think I know what's going on. at some point your fan died, either because the rotor gunked up or the stator lost one of its connections. Now that the fan isn't spinning, it's not generating the back emf that the card is tuned for. As a result, the current is surging way higher than it should and causing your fans to either stay off or pin at 100%. You'll need to either do one of those ghetto mods where you put a cpu cooler on a gpu, get an NZXT kraken to do some quick water cooling, or get a new card.

nightmarevoid got a reaction from Yoelq in Halo MCC for PC is both installed and not installed somehow
I don't know how, but the problem is fixed.
I used Run to run wsreset.exe which clears the store cache
I clicked the X next to the failed downloads in the "my apps" section of the microsoft store to cancel the download and uninstall the game packages.
I installed all pending updates
I restarted my computer
When I went back to the xbox app to install MCC it actually started installing this time. Honestly, idk.

nightmarevoid got a reaction from Mitko_DSV in Do you know a product that was ahead of it’s Time?
I had a Galaxy GTX580 MDT. It was a card that came with a proprietary software and ports that could combine multiple displays into a single display for gaming. I believe two years after this card was released Nvidia added that functionality to its control panel.

nightmarevoid reacted to Nathanpete in good free PDF editor recommendations?
Check out some of the options here: https://opensource.com/alternatives/adobe-acrobat
I have recently learned to recommend open source software instead of freeware, bc u don't pay a premium for extra features in open source software. It is either there or it isn't for everyone.
