  1. So I'm upgrading my ancient mobo to an Asus B450M-A which only has USB 3.1 headers. My old motherboard only had usb 2.0 headers and I'm struggling to find cables that go from USB 3.1 to 2.0. I can't use PCIe expansion cards because the mobo is micro ATX and only has 1 slot. Does anyone know where I can find these cables or another way around it? I don't want to replace all the USB ports I have but it looks like I might have to. Thanks in advance, Maddix
  2. So my graphics card has been showing now video output so i've narrowed the issue down the either bios or an issue with the card itself. Anyway so I need to update my bios to the most recent version (0.52) and i'm currently on 0.42. Can I go straight to 0.52 or do i need to update to each new version until I get to 0.52? Im not sure if this is motherboard specific or not but any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance, Maddix
  3. Thank you for the links. I will try update the mobo bios tomorrow to see if that solves the issue. I've also seen that sometimes the card comes with a resolution that is higher than the monitor which can cause issues so I'm going to plug it into a 4K TV as well. Not sure if that will help but it's worth a try. The card is new from ebuyer.
  4. Previous card was a GTX 1050 ti. I'm going to use DDU to make sure all traces of the drivers are gone and see if that helps.
  5. Hi everyone, So for my birthday I treated myself to a new graphics card. Today I tried to install it into my motherboard (Intel DH61CR) and ran into some issues. The graphics card has no display output. I tried all the ports on the back and got nothing. The card is getting power as the fans are spinning. I uninstalled my previous GPUs drivers as well. I'm not a very technical person I only know the basics so I'm really stuck for ideas on what the issue could be. If anyone has had this issue or has suggestions that would be great. Thank you, Maddix
  6. I didnt know if the card needed new PCI-e technology or not and I didn't know if the CPU and GPU could have compatibility issues. I'm sort of new to troubleshooting these things.
  7. Hi everyone, So I've decided that for my birthday I am going to upgrade my cheap ass prebuilt from amazon. I've picked out parts I'd like to get and PC part picker says that there are no compatibility issues but I thought I'd check with actual people first. My motherboard (That I'm sticking with) is an Intel DH61CR (https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/51857/intel-desktop-board-dh61cr.html) The CPU I want to upgrade to is an Intel I7 2600 (Board doesn't support OC) The GPU I want to upgrade to is a MSI RX580 Armour (8GB)(https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/components-upgrades/graphics-cards/msi-radeon-rx-580-8-gb-armor-oc-graphics-card-10179465-pdt.html) My power supply is 500W Will these parts work together with no issues? Thanks for any help you guys can give me -Maddix
  8. Exactly this, I would pretty much have to rebuild my system if I went for a more recent board
  9. You're right about the pre-built. I really regret getting a prebuilt but I was 13 and didn't know much. And Cex do have a 2600k for less but not a 2600 or 2700. I will probably just go for one of those. Thank you
  10. Okay guys so this is my first post on the forum and I'm not sure if it's for questions like this so feel free to tell me and ill delete this. I am 15 so playing games is a big part of my life but currently my machine is powered by an i3 2120 Which is a dual core that sells for £2 locally. I was thinking of upgrading to an i7 2700k which would only cost me £75 used. My board is a LGA1155 socket and I cant really afford to upgrade it. My question is, should I get this? I would like to play VR and have a system that can actually run discord at the same time as a game. Id also like it to be able to see my through the next couple years until I finally get a job. Thank you for any replies and as I said I'll take this down if this isn't what the forums for. Thanks for any help, Maddix
