The ips are static. Can i do a workaround with this? like change the ip of my dns server from 53 to 443?
-
Backstory: About a year ago i wanted to make a dns server but dropped the project since was not so needed. However now became a better go since i am often creating new servers in my homelab. Not a big problem with 3-5 servers but i might escalate that and not even remember one single ip adress. One friend of mine had to do for a school project a dns server in c and though about doing something similar in python. Someone already did THIS but in a much wierder way... so started modifying his code and came up with THIS. Compared to the first version, now dig works with anything.. not just local defined in the config files, or those with only a higher domain. Goal: there are 2 goals and one of them is already hit: 1) dig deluge.local-net to actually return the ip of the desired machine (CHECK) 2) hit deluge.local-net on the browser and have the proper result (NOPE) Issue: Using it as a primary dns on my windows machine actually works pretty good. But for some things it's not working as expected... if i go on pornhub, i see on the logs that it's being resolved among with other requests. But if i search for one of my custom ones this won't work.... and beyond that... windows does not call my server to try and solve any adress like el.chupa.cabra but just says that does not exist. And in the logs i see some calls for google instead, but not with that adress. Can someone help with this? Questions: Does the format of the domain matter? If so, how should i name it for a local network? Does the ip of the domain have an impact if it's a lan one?

Home Lab: pi-hole, dns server, maybe plex, freenas/samba, a minecraft server, a gaming vm (i will cut open the pci-e x8 install a 980ti) and more projects that i might consider. I was thinking about first buying in the first instance 4x4gb ram and then expand when the need comes. I looked up on ebay for r710 and most of them come with 1333 they are not really that worthy(300$ for something i can make better from a local seller). I have a local seller that sells tons of those and i get as many details i want in matter of minutes, compared to ctoservers that don`t reply even after months. Do you know any difference in server performance when changing from 1000mhz to 1600mhz ?
-
Hi! I will buy a R710 in the coming future and discovering the world of servers in my research for the best and worthy parts i should get. As we all know, ram comes in different sizes and speed and i see i have few options: PC3L-8500R ~ 1066 Mhz PC3L-10600R ~ 1333 Mhz PC3L-12800R ~ 1600 Mhz PC3L-14900R ~ 1866 MHz the price of the 1866 compared to the 1066 should be near 40% more. I searched on the internet to find something about differences but nothing better than i expected: the bigger frequency is the better. But how much better? Does anyone have a benchmark or something like this so i could compare the cheapest vs the most expensive? I know in games your gain would be of near 1% more but i`d like to know if is something noticeable even for a server.

Can you help me with a semi basic program (Python)
qxZap replied to JimTheKid's topic in Programming
You can use https://github.com/Kjue/python-opencv-gpu-video openCV is quite cool and you can find a lot of examples -
I have a ROG Strix GL503 with: i7-7700HQ 16 gigs of ram ddr4 GTX 1060 6GB At the time i got it i was impressed and i still am of how good can it keep up with new titles. However, things evolve and i might need a newer GPU at some time. I`ve seen lately videos about people using eGPUs through type c thunderbolt and i wondered if i could do the same at some point. In terms of I/O i have multiple USB 3.1 type a (5 Gb/s) but i`m planning on using the type c 3.1 gen 2 port since it`s twice faster (10 GB/s). Can i use a eGPU with this port? Does anyone tried something like this before? How different is compared to thunderbolt 2/3 ?

If you a noobie start with C++, i know it`s easier to go with python and start scripting, but you gotta understand how memory works and how a computer handles processes, also understand few simple OOP principles (or later with Java). After you understand some of that, go with C. You will learn more about arguments, types of data etc. Then go with python, you can script fast, debug fast, and make cool quick projects with different frameworks. Then go with Java/VB as you desire and work organized. Pascal should stay dead and deleted. In my country at the CS exam you can choose from Pascal, C and C++. And Pascal sucks. If you are going to do web Development than JS will just inject into your skull without you knowing so don`t worry.

With urllib.request what you are basically doing is sending requests.Remember that many web apps when responding to a requested they just leave poor html and a lot of js, since most of the work is done in js (in those web apps). And from that js the html might be generated. Plus, you need a session alive or cookies if you want to be logged in. My advice is simulate a user with mechanize ( ) and use regular expressions to create your own unique functions to scrap the pages, or help yourself with BeautifulSoup. Remember that the reponse might change depending on your browser (i mean the one you might simulate). this is the best way to go that i could think of since you are not scrapping, instead you are simulating a user.

As a programmer i came across the same question in the last couple of years: "time to test it deployed" and either i used AWS or other deploy web services depending on the project. I had the idea to turn one of my old laptops into a in-house server, so i`m tryna get some answers. Specs: Dell latitude D620 CPU: Intel Core Duo T2500, 2.00Ghz Memory: 2.0GB, DDR2-667 GPU: Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950 HD: Samsung 500GB 7200rpm SATA3 Is it worth it to turn it into a server? I`d like to hear so pros and cons. Has anyone tried this before? If so how does it run? yay or nay?
