"System" (ntoskrnl.exe) taking resources and draining battery
Daggerhashimoto replied to Daggerhashimoto's topic in Windows
I followed the video instructions and set the computer to always be on power saver when on battery. Still noticing it. Side note, the right half of the laptop is pretty hot and the fans are sitting at around 2k RPM. This is with discord and two web browsers open. -
Hello, I have an Aorus 15p YD laptop running Windows 11. In task manager, "System" (ntoskrnl.exe in properties) is flagged as high power usage. When looking in the power and battery settings, it said that system has taken up 78% of my battery. My battery will completely drain in about 45 minutes. Anyone know how to fix this?

New High Core Build for Gaming
Daggerhashimoto replied to Frostbite4075's topic in New Builds and Planning
I would go with the Intel Core i9 over the 5950x. I have built with both CPUs, and the i9 is superior. You can also get ddr5 in the future. i9 vs 5950x: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i9-12900K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-9-5950X/4118vs4086 I have compiled a list on pcpartpicker for you: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/2024jrb1/saved/DJxxgs Note: I am in the US, so I am not sure if prices are different. In my local Best Buy, there are multiple i9s in stock. -
Agree with SignatureSigners post. If you can find a founder's edition, I would go with that, mostly because it is less expensive.

You can't go wrong with either of those boards. If you would like to fit it into your budget, you could go with a x570 like the Aorus Master.

MSI board hangs on code 99

Maybe disconnect all devices and hit the reset switch? You could guide her in resetting the CMOS battery, I don't think it should be too difficult. -

Doesn't EK offer a compatibility kit for LGA 1700? -

They do have Wi-Fi 6, but I do agree with the 3060 statement. I am probably going to check with them and see if they want to go with a lower price, and will edit the GPU accordingly -
If you are not using virtualization, you can probably turn it off, though I don't think it really matters at all. Personally, I would leave it on, though it doesn't matter. It is not a security risk.

If the trade is legit, the 6700xt is a faster card (without ray tracing). Be careful though, because many used cards have been mined on, and the life might be effected.
