  1. Bump still need help with this issue, am open to any suggestions u guys have, will try n screenshot everything i attempt to do to show as proof that nothing i attempt is working
  2. Nope, not used VPNs in a fairly long time, since netflix changed their stance on the usage of VPNs i've not used them.
  3. No, no switch between us. Just an average household setup. Router, with 4 ports.. Nothing too flashy, or out of the ordinary.. Its worth noting i've never had a speed issue like this before at all, if i did, it was an ISP thing and they fixed it their end.. But as i have already said my ISP doesnt see any faults their side so..
  4. Hi! All current drivers are fully updated, I have run the Intel Driver Assistant and nothing shows up as needing to be installed so. All is upto date, tho it's worth noting that I am now using a TP-link network adaptor.. But, everything to do with my Chipset is fully up to date.
  5. Hey guys, I'm new here, but I'm basically at a loss for where to look for advice by this point, i've spoken to several people who work in networking who have straight up told me they can't figure it out, it's very uncommon this happens without one of the fixes I've tried actually fixing the speed issue. Anyway, I've been having speed issues for the past couple of weeks, (probably longer, I just clicked on a couple of weeks ago, but who knows.) So, I contacted my ISP; whose automated phone service claimed we have a fault on our line, so it sent me through to a representative, who then read off his little script of trouble shooting tips, all of which did not work. At which point, I asked if there were any faults on their end, or even just on the line that leads to my house from their box. Of which their reply was no, nothing shows has having issues in our area, and nothing shows wrong on their end either, so at this point, having tried all of their suggestions, I requested we got new equipment fitted, of which after 24hrs they obliged my request, and fitted it the next day. By this point, it's been a week, and we've only just gotten the new equipment sorted. The guy ran his tests (i was not in the house at the time, but my dad informed me that he ran multiple tests on wifi/ethernet and all reported back with 290-300Mbps. We pay for 350+ Fibre Broadband. So, obviously, 300 during peak hours is still pretty good, especially considering peak hours, a lot of people in our area are also with Virgin media, so the usage in the area is going to obviously be up so we're not gonna get the full 350 onwards until later times. I came home the day after the equipment was fitted, ran speed tests on my pc and my brothers pc (Both are throttling the exact same way.) and what do ya know, problem is still occuring. I run a speed test on speedtest.net, and 150mbps is the highest it will go, and then it throttles and doesn't seem to want to go higher. (it's also worth noting, we both have Cat7 Ethernet cables running to our machines, I'll leave a list of system info at the bottom along with links to the equipment we are using for reference.) So, at this point, frustrated as ever, I go pull a Cat .5E cable out of my box of pc stuff, along with ripping the Cat7 cable I have in the back of my machine. Whipped out the laptop, didn't connect it to wifi, as I run speedtests through the Ookla app on my phone and i just use that to give me a rough idea of what I'm receiving through wifi, so i plug the Cat .5E cable into my laptop, run the test. and what do you know? 380Mbps. No throttling, no problem whatsoever, hit it without a problem. ran a second test, with the same cat .5e cable and same again. Strange, i know. So at this point I'm like big fat ????? I take my laptop to my room, where my machine is, and plug the same cat 7 cable that was in my machine into the laptop, and perform the same speed test to see it report back 388Mbps.... At this point, I'm angry. As I now know its not my cable, its not the equipment, it's nothing in the real world that could be causing this issue, except for one thing and that's Mac address capping. I called my ISP yesterday, and this has not happened either. My mac address is uncapped, capable of pulling 1000Mbps, as it says on their screen, it also says for me. So, at this point, I say to my self, well whats the one thing my laptop has that my pc doesnt? A Realtek network chip! So, i go on amazon and buy a Gigabit network card, installed it yesterday when it came, downloaded the drivers from TP-links website and installed them, restarted my pc, ran a speed test, still throttling. And here I am. Stumped. Literally have no idea what to do. OH I also disabled IPv6, as i heard this has also been causing some issues for some people, i disabled it and nothing. still the same. I reset the network stack too. Nothing I tried worked. I have searched for almost 2 weeks straight for solutions to this and I'm all out. Even tomshardware couldn't help and they usually help me solve everything lol. If u have any questions ask away, i'll happily answer. List of hardware I'm using: Cat7 cable: Here. Network card: Here. Info on the router I was supplied can be found: Here. My system: Gigabyte GA-B250-HD3P Intel I7 7700k 16gb ddr 4 ram 3000MHZ I doubt u need to know my GPU but EVGA 2070. My brothers pc is something similar to mine just a little newer: Asus ROG STRIX B360-F I7 8700k 16GB ddr4 ram 3200MHZ MSI 2070 (again dnt think this is necessary but just so u know.) I've also attached a few things, to show I'm not just being limited to 100Mbps under link speed, and two of speed tests, one taken a few months ago, and one taken lastnight.
