  1. I have an ASUS P5N73-AM motherboard with an Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 CPU and 4GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM (2GB x2) The motherboard manual says that 4GB of ram is the maximum it will support, but the manual is old, and printed before 4GB DDR sticks were commonly available. (There is a cryptic note in the manual that says 32bit Operating systems only support up to 4GB. Why mention it if the board only supports 4GB? I have Windows 10 Pro 64Bit) Has anyone tried putting two 4GB DDR2 sticks in one of these boards? and does 8GB total work? Note: There is apparently two types of 4GB DDR2 unbuffered non-ecc RAM. One type made for AMD based boards only and one that supports both AMD and Intel (MUCH more expensive).
  2. I found the solution... Run the Group Policy Editor 1. Run gpedit.msc 2. Look under the following: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> Lanman Workstation 3. Double click "Enable Insecure Guest Logons" 4. Select "Enabled" 5. Click "OK" 6. close all windows 7. Now try mounting the Network Drive again. Shared folders are now mountable. Note: Group Policy Editor only works for Windows 10 Pro. ?
  3. Actually Dr. David Wood is a Dr. of Philosophy. He is a critique of Islam because and like all Christians we believe that every human has intrinsic value. He has a love for Muslims and criticizes Islam to expose its flaws. If you care for someone, and you know what they are participating in has valid arguments that demonstrate that it isn't true, then you expose those evidences. His methods are harsh because of the cultural background of his audience. He has successfully helped radical Islamists leave Islam. He does nothing out of bigotry, despite the death threats he gets every day. Would you trust a guy that puts his life on the line to tell you the truth? But if you want to hear from someone more subdued, I suggest Ravi Zacharias. Also, regarding the "took a lot of things from others" I suggest Tom Holland (historian). You appear to be parroting people like Hitchens who are not qualified historians (he was a journalist - no historical credentials) also Grayling . Look up Unbelievable? "Tom Holland & AC Grayling • History: Did Christianity give us our human values?"
  4. It appears that you have never really studied Jesus as a historical figure, and that you don't understand that Christianity is the continuation and conclusion of Judaism. Jesus indicated many times that he was the Messiah described in the Jewish texts. One of the best preserved of those prophetic texts is the book of Isaiah. You can view it on display at the "Shrine of the Book" in Israel (a copy is available on-line) in the "Great Isaiah Scroll" which is approximately 100 to 250 years older than the time Jesus was born (the scroll text itself is 700 years older than Jesus's time). Isaiah 53 is the chapter that describes the purpose of the Messiah and his life death and resurrection. Also Jesus is the human form of Yahweh. He accepts worship and being called God from his followers (John 20:28). I suggest this video from Dr. David Wood at Acts17Apologetics: "What Is the Gospel?". The term "Christianity" came from a derogatory remark used by the Romans meaning "little Christs". It was poking fun at the way they would give their lives for their faith. The term Christian was indeed used during Biblical times... See Acts 11:26 (Acts 11:26 "And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.")
  5. Isiah 1:18a "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD:" The God of Christianity does not mind having people reason, and question. The Bible was never meant to be a scientific textbook. I find it interesting to see the misconceptions about Christianity in this discussion. What can be examined are evidences that correlate to science discoveries. For example, there is no defined time in Genesis 1 between the creation of the universe and the manipulation of earth to support life. The original Hebrew does not indicate consecutive days for creation, only specific ordered days where God interjected in the development of life. The design and purpose of the Genesis story is for memorization and to record the power of God, not for scientific description. The fossil record supports the sudden burst of diversification in specific periods. I suggest watching Dr. John Lennox's video, "Seven Days that Divide the World" on YouTube. Also, you will find that the scientific method and the scientific revolution was actually propelled forward by Christians. I suggest watching these videos by Dr. David Wood at Acts17Apologetics on YouTube "God, Science, and Atheism", "Nicolaus Copernicus vs. the New Atheists"
  6. I put a 222uF at C859 and a 10pF at C680. So far no smoke. If anyone knows that there might be issues with this please let me know. Update: So far no crashes, and ASUS GPU Tweak II is now showing correct speeds under "GPU Boost Clock". Before I put on the capacitors, I researched DDR5 and found that the clock is auto calibrated from within the chips against impedance values in the circuit. So as long as the capacitors provide stable current and the impedance values of the surrounding components are within the calibration capabilities of the chips, it should be fine. I will see what happens over a few weeks.
  7. Unfortunately my Capacitance tester is only showing "low ESR" when it tests them. The location on the board has to do with RAM. I can't tell if it affects timing. I think it might, as it seems to lock up the card (like a perpetual wait state) rather than returning a data error. It mostly seems to do it if I have a lot of windows open and scroll a web site with animated graphics or is running video. Sometimes I can go for days without an issue. I cleaned off the pads and they are fine. The new capacitors I have were poorly labeled. I have to make guesses. Should I choose them in the pf (picofarad) range or the uf (microfarad) range? I don't know much about current memory module design.
  8. Capacitor C859 may be the same as C588, C519 But C680 pad location is a different size to C850 (definitely different in value). The problem is that I may have to de-solder C588 or C519 in order to measure them (which risks damaging them). My in-circuit capacitance tester doesn't seem to be able to pick up the value (all it is telling me is that they are in working order). Since I'm typing using the computer that has this card installed, It makes it a bit inconvenient to pull it then put it back again.
  9. The capacitors are 0.5 cents each, and if I can repair it, then I've reclaimed my $86.74.
  10. Note: I have a packet of 1,000 replacement capacitors of different values. Replacing them shouldn't be a problem, I just need the values.
  11. Because my eyesight isn't getting any better. I'm getting old ? I need a magnifying glass to see them. Also the card runs fine with lesser demanding applications. It worked for months. Now it just randomly locks up. It also passed the diagnostic and burn in test I ran on it when I first got it.
  12. I haven't tried cleaning them yet to find out. I can always run a wire if I need to.
  13. I'm looking for the values of two missing capacitors for an ASUS GTX750TI-OC-2GD. The item was ordered as a used product from Aliexpress but arrived defective. The missing capacitors went un noticed for long after the disputation period. The card runs, but locks up under just the right circumstances. If anyone has a defective one they can de-solder to test the values, or has an in circuit capacitance tester, can you please measure the values for me? ASUS has already refused to help ("trade secrets" ?). Something that is out in the open and testable is not a secret. Note: I have a packet of 1,000 replacement capacitors of different values. Replacing them shouldn't be a problem, I just need the values.
  14. Western Digital responded to my support request. They verified the info about the changes to Windows 10. They suggested that each folder be mapped to a drive letter under the Network Browser (Not under "This PC"). The instructions can be found here: https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25436#subject1 So far this has solved the ISO mounting issue. Also, enabling the Network Browse feature for SMB 1 instructions are here: https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4155 Update... Spoke too soon... this only worked for my desktop computer. Won't work for my laptop. Microsoft's update also broke my LAN messenger, now I have to find another one.
  15. I did find one method that gives me access to download my files back from the MyBookLive. I had to set the "Allow FTP" to "on" and log in as an FTP site on my network. Only good thing is that I can get to my files, the bad thing is that it is slow and doesn't allow me to mount ISO files without downloading them first.
