  1. Welp, DP extension cable connecting my PC to the MST hub was the issue. Shame since without it my desk cable management will be horrid. Oh well, at least it works now and I know I'm an idiot for not checking... Thank you!

So I recently added a 4th monitor to my 3 monitor setup and it's been great having the extra screen real estate to work with, problem is I can't have my VR headset plugged in at the same time as the 4 monitors. To solve this I read about MST hubs and bought one to connect 2 screens to 1 GPU slot. It worked great on yesterday (day 1), but I never played any games. Today I tried a few games and each of them caused the 2 screens plugged into the hub and my main display to disconnect and reconnect constantly, black flashes. Unusable unfortunately. So I did some more reading and found that Nvidia actually no longer supports more than 4 active displays, and hasn't supported MST hubs for 6 years. For reference my current setup is a 3080FE (3 DP +1 HDMI) and a Ryzen 3600. So now I'm wondering if there is any reasonable way to get this working in a clean way. I've thought of adding a 2nd GPU, purely for running 1 or 2 "extra" screens that'll just have stuff like task manager and discord, but I'm concerned that it will not work while having my 3080 installed. I'm not going for SLI or anything here, so a crappy 5-10 year old GPU should work for this, right? I Don't exactly want to try to get another 3000 series GPU, I'm already lucky to have what I got as is. I'd love to use the ports on my mobo but integrated graphics is practically not an option thanks to AMD. Thoughts?
  3. Any chance you know how to check into this? First I'm hearing of this feature and I do have a high-end motherboard so its possible, however unlikely Unfortunately disabling via device manager only disables the specific device plugged in, not the port itself. I have a speaker that uses USB for power but it transfers no data, so windows doesn't even recognize it as plugged in.
  4. I've looked online for what I can, but everything on google is for disabling a USB device, or disabling USB thumb drives from connecting entirely. Basically I have a couple devices plugged into my USB 2.0 front panel I'd like to disable when I go to bed, as they have bright lights. One device is a speaker that only takes USB power, no data, so windows doesn't even know anything is plugged in on that port. I leave my PC on overnight for various reasons and as long as these devices receive power they are bright as hell, which isn't ideal as I sleep in the same room The easy solution is to get a USB hub with switches, but I'm looking for a much cleaner solution, preferably one I can activate on my desktop, through cmd or powershell. I've downloaded windows devkit and used USB device viewer to figure out which USB I want disabled, but I can't find any ways to do so. Is this possible?

So I recently got a mobo/CPU/ram upgrade, and am going to install it all later tonight, but I'm having some confusion on using multiple PCI-E slots, and the motherboard manual isn't very helpful. (Maybe I just don't know what to look for?) I'm going to a new ASUS STRIX B450-F, and want to use 4 slots of PCI-E. 1 for my GPU (RX580-8GB), 1 for a capture card (HD60 Pro), 1 for a soundcard, and the last for a wifi card. My question is if I install the GPU onto the 1st PCI-E x16 slot, does it matter which slots the others go in, since they are all PCI-E x1? I've attached the relevant pages from the motherboard manual, but I'm not sure how to read the speed charts. I could just put the GPU into PCIE_X16_1, and put each of the x1 cards into PCIE_X1_(1-3), but I'm not sure if I have clearance in my case to use one of the x1 slots above the GPU. So I'm thinking of using either PCIE_X16_2 or PCIE_X16_3 for one of the x1 devices, but I don't want to limit the speed of PCIE_X16_1 for my GPU down to x8 or x4 speeds. Let me know if any of you have any insights, curious to know more on how these slots share bandwidth.
