Hello all, I'm hoping this community can help me narrow down a choice of CPU for a work build i want to do. In general, I'm not overly concerned with budget, more concerned with making the right choice. I'm an architect and do mostly 3D modeling and rendering, with some CAD workflow. Specifically, to build my 3D models I use SketchUp (which is a single-core only program), and for rendering I use Lumion (which is a GPU heavy program, and sadly does not utilize SLI). Lumion itself is based upon a game rendering engine, so the RTX cards work best. My current thought is to go with:
Motherboard: MSI MEG Z390 GODLIKE LGA1151
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance PRO 128GB (4x32GB) DDR4 3200
GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080TI Overclocked 11G GDDR6
Which brings me to my bigger question; the CPU. To my knowledge, to get the single fastest core processing (currently) would be the i9-9900k, OC to 5.1-5.2 (if i can). I konw there is the 10900k on the horizon, which seems to maybe get an additional .1 or so increase? But, I would love to hear any feedback, looking big picture, going with the i9-9900KF (no integrated graphics, maybe OC a bit higher), or even the 'X' series, like the i9-9960x, giving more cores, but lower single core. I'm not opposed to AMD either, but if goal is highest single core seems like i keep going back to the i9-9900kf.
I know I may have other applications (video editing, etc.) that would use larger core counts, but anything that does is only a small fraction of my day-to-day workflow.
Before I spend the large amount of money on this high of a system, I just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing an option. I feel like at this point, I'm only looking at marginal increases overall, but would love to hear about other options, or confirming I'm on the right track.
Thanks in advance for any info provided!
