  1. I didn't include the 4070ti, because every productivity benchmark I saw had it nearly identical in performance to the 4070. For the 4090, I would need a new PSU, bringing my minimum upgrade cost to 1800, which I could not bring myself to do, as that is how much my entire current rig cost.
  2. Thank you everyone for the replies! I feel better equipped for the decision.
  3. I hadn't considered the 3070, since it had the same amount of VRAM as my 1080. But looking it up, it does have the same number of CUDA cores as the 4070. That is worth considering.
  4. I'd consider that pretty close(close enough to not want to spend money on a 2060S). But yeah, I'll try OC my current card and see if it improves it enough for now. Thank you for the input
  5. I find my GTX 1080 (which is about equal to a 2060 super) boggs down a bit now, particularly in Premiere Pro, Blender and Illustrator when it has many vectors. But I do also game.
  6. Illustrator Photoshop Premiere pro Blender After effects InDesign Unreal Engine (thats for fun though)
  7. I wish I could, but I unfortunately need the GPU for work and not just gaming, and AMD doesn't do well in productivity.
  8. I know the 4080 is better, I was more asking the question if the 4070 for one generation before upgrading was a better idea than the 4080 for three generations.
  9. I know no one can decide for me, but I'm curious what others would do in this scenario. I upgrade every few generations typically, I am coming from a 1080. I have enough budgeted for a 4080, but I know it's pretty widely accepted that it's a bad value (as I know all but the 4090 is). If you were in this scenario, would you get the 4080, or get the 4070 (which is half the cost) and save the rest of what you budgeted for the next generation? I would consider AMD, but I need the GPU for productivity work as well, and unfortunately AMD is still lacking in that department. Thank you in advance.
  10. I use NIS on my 4k tv. Just do an overall upscale from 1440p to 4k. (I think RSR works on NVidia cards too, but I don't think it's any better)
  11. Yeah, that's a very good point. I have an 850w PSU (not atx 3.0). Thats a point I keep forgetting to consider.
  12. Yeah, the 4080 was what I originally wanted. I just can't justify spending that much for a GPU. 1k was the highest I was willing to go, and that was stretching it. But thanks for the input!
  13. To Clarify on the video. He was playing 4k and Hogwarts Legacy, so about worst case scenario for a GPU. He even showed that the a770 was a smoother play (though lower frames). His point from what I gathered was that the memory on the 4070 ti would not have good longevity compared to the previous generation, especially as newer games will call for more and better vram. I just wanted thoughts from other people (as I am currently looking for a GPU)
  14. I have a 5900x. And DLSS 3.0 isn't a high priority for me, but would just be a minor bonus.
  15. Hello all, So I was curious what people's thoughts were on these two cards. Looking at the FPS people show in graphs on channels, the 4070 ti seems like the clear winner. However, I recently watched a video by Classical Technology showing the limits of the memory bus on the 4070 ti, that while the frames were about the same as a 4090,it was a stuttery mess. Seeing as how the 3080 ti (600 used avg) has a larger memory bus (384 bit), do you think it is a better option over the 4070 ti (800 new, and 192 bit) for longevity. I currently have a 1080, just so you know how often I typically upgrade. let me know your thoughts Thank you
  16. Wow, and they're going for pretty cheap used right now. I'll consider it.
  17. I appreciate the replies. All very good points. Might have just been the perspective shift I needed. I do game at 1440p, so it does make sense the top top isn't necessary for me. I might just consider the current 6-800 dollar cards right now. Thank you
  18. Ok, so the scenario for me is. In my main rig I currently have a GTX 1080 (5900x, 32gb 3600 ram). I also have two HTPC (one is using integrated graphics, the other is just waiting on a GPU). I had planned to upgrade my main rig and move it's 1080 over to my htpc that's waiting for a GPU. I originally planned to either get a 4080 or 7900xtx, however the 4080 is just too expensive for me to justify the cost, and the 7900xtx is just barely within reason, but does poorly in productivity tasks (which I need for freelance work). Knowing my scenario, do you think it is worth continuing to wait until either the 4080 goes down in price, hope that the 4070ti is a reasonable price, or get something like a 6700xt (which is 360 on newegg atm) for my htpc to tide me over until (hopefully) prices become reasonable? (the last option is more-so if I'm going to be waiting 6+ months to be able to get a good card) I realize it's going to come down to a judgement call, but I'd like a second opinion or two.
  19. That looks exactly like what I was looking for! Thank you so much!
  20. I searched, but couldn't find anything (or couldn't find the right words in the search). I was looking into a sensor panel to put inside my PC case and have it display sensor data. However, all of the tutorials I watched have the panel as just another monitor your put aida64 in (or w/e program you choose). That's all well and good, but I am wondering if there is a way to isolate or lock that panel from the rest of my main monitors, so that I don't accidentally move my mouse, or other programs into that small screen during every day use. If not, I'll probably just skip the whole idea in general, but I wanted to ask before I got too invested in the idea. Thanks
  21. Yeah, but I figured with every launch selling out immediately, AIB's not having cards for a few months after launch, Potential push back to December (for initial launch). I think I feel good about it.
  22. Thanks for the replies!, I think I'm gonna go for it.
  23. Yeah, sorry. $900 USD. MSI Ventus OC 3080ti on newegg rn
