  1. Oh yeah makes sense! I'll just take out the front top fan. Thanks!
  2. Hey All, I just upgraded my cooling setup in my case and I'm wondering if what I did was the best move. I have a Lian Li Lancool II Mesh Performance. Specs are 5950x and 3090. Using a Noctua NH-D15s exhausting out the back. RIght now my fans are setup as follows: Front: Two 140mm intake Top: Two 140mm exhaust Back: One 120mm exhaust Bottom: One 120mm intake on PSU shroud (This a maybe unique fan position for this case. you can remove a part of the shroud to put a fan there instead, aimed at the GPU). The front and back fans are stock, added the top and bottom recently. Noticed a nice drop in temps when I added these new fans, but I'm a little concerned that this setup might be wrong. Any thoughts?
  3. I have an EVGA 3090 on the way that needs three 8-pin connectors. Do I hook up three separate cables? Or two, with one cable using two connectors and the 2nd cable one connector? Thanks!
  4. Specifically it's the "EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING" model that has a small overclock (I think 100mhz) already built in. 5950x is running at whatever the stock settings are. I'll be using the machine for gaming and music production (specifically Cubase, not a graphics card intensive rendering process at all). Do I need to step up to a 1000w PSU or will this 850w unit get the job done? Not planning to do any extra OC on either of these. Right now I have two nvme drives in it, and will be adding sata drives down the line (as many as 4). Thanks!
  5. EVGA P2: $240 2021 rmx: $150 2018 rmx (microcenter nearby): $180 The EVGA is titanium when the others are gold.
  6. Hey All, Trying to decide between the Corsair RM850x (2021) and the EVGA 850 P2: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-rmx-series-rm850x-80-plus-gold-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-black/6459244.p?skuId=6459244 https://www.newegg.com/evga-supernova-850-p2-220-p2-0850-x1-850w/p/N82E16817438056?Item=N82E16817438056 The P2 has glowing reviews, but they're all from 2015 and I feel weird buying such an old model. The RM850x is obviously brand new, but the reviews seem to say "not as good as the 2018 model" which is of course sold out anywhere. Any help?
  7. I'm looking at this memory (https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-128gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820374062) as I need 128gb of memory for music production (could potentially go 64gb in the short term, but would need 32x2 still to be able to upgrade to 128gb down the line). The couple reviews I've found online said the XMP didn't work for them and it didn't run stable at the speed advertised. Anyone here with this memory that can speak to their experience? Alternatively, I could get 2 of these (https://www.newegg.com/ballistix-64gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820164175) which seem to be well reviewed. Thanks!
  8. I thought I saw 3200 CL14 on pcpartpicker but I might be wrong haha. 3600 CL16 sounds good anyway. Those esentially amount to the G.Skill Trident series, is there any performance difference between Neo and Royal? Or is just aesthetic?
  9. Ah interesting! Well it seems needing 128gb of ram going to need to do 1.45V (which ive learned isn't a problem). Researching it seems like 3600 CL16 and 3200 CL14 perform essentially the same. Do you have any particular recommendation on which to go?
  10. Oh interesting, the pcpartpicker showed CL16 as the lowest for 3600, this is the kit I was looking at: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CM9tt6/gskill-trident-z-neo-128-gb-4-x-32-gb-ddr4-3600-cl16-memory-f4-3600c16q-128gtzn Is there anything wrong with getting two 64g (2x32) kits at 3600 CL14 and putting them together to hit 128g?
  11. Hey All! I'm building a new PC, recently picked up a 5950x and doing research into what memory to get. I need 128GB of memory as I'll be using this machine for music production (and gaming as well). I was looking at a G.Skill 3600 CL16 kit, but the voltage is listed as 1.45v and the max recommended voltage for memory on 5000 series processors is 1.35v from what I can tell. Am I essentially signing up to overclock my memory right out of the box if I go this route? There a similar kits that are 3600 CL18 or 3200 CL16 at 1.35v but I really don't know what sort of performance hit that I'm taking with the slower speed/latency. Can anyone who knows more about memory help me out? Thanks!
  12. Yeah for sure, was just curious if there was some info I had missed somewhere. Sounds like any sort of release date is still a total mystery though, oh well!
  13. Hey All, Been planning to build a new gaming PC, and now that the 3080 is out I'm considering it. The other side I'm worried about is the CPU. I was originally planning for the 3950x (I'll also be using this machine for music production, so the 16 cores is much needed) but is it silly to not wait for the next gen of Ryzen CPUs? When are those expected to be out? Thanks!
  14. If you're willing to wait a little, Eluktronics is about to launch this laptop with a 4800H and RTX 2060. If it has a good cooling solution and panel (Eluktronics usually does) it'll be a winner. https://www.eluktronics.com/RP-15/
  15. From what I've seen in recent reviews, the A15 has really bad thermals and a bad display.
