Cris.py got a reaction from Stahlmann in Help me pick a monitor
Thank you very much, this was really helpful. I guess I'll look for flat 16:9 27" 1440p 144+Hz then, 4k will not work due to GPU limitation for now 😉
I'll look at MSI one if I can get it locally. It makes no sense for me to spend less so I'd skip LG option for now. Thank you very much for the input.

Cris.py got a reaction from Frizz in White line and choppy image on a monitor
After all troubleshooting I was confident that the panel died and this was confirmed by the AOC repair shop. Not much to do other than replacement part.

Cris.py reacted to SorryBella in B550 or X570
Yeah, save the 50$. But instead of Tomahawk, go for the B550-A Pro if you could, that should cut you up an extra 70 on your build.

Cris.py got a reaction from Tech87 in Do you have a backup GPU?
I have a group of friends which shares "backup hardware". When my main rig died (laptop) I was actually running buddies GTX 780 for about half a year. Then that one died, so I used an old Radeon HD 7850 for about half a year as I couldn't buy anything in current situation. It was a meme of a bottleneck build (5600x + HD 7850) but I did game in 1080p just fine and it was much better than having a paperweight. Backup card ftw.

Cris.py reacted to CommanderAlex in Changing thermal paste on GPU
Yes, thermal paste can be used across different applications. It's not only just for CPUs, as well as graphics cards and chipsets to name a few.

Cris.py got a reaction from Foi in AMD rx580 Driver crashes pc repeatedly
RX 5xx seems to have a lot of driver issues, try the following:
- don't use Radeon wattmaster and MSI afterburner at same time, they seems to hate eachother
- reset Radeon software settings to default
- disable quick boot option in Windows

Cris.py got a reaction from kenter-k in Thread for Linus Tech Tips Video Suggestions
I don't know if this has been posted before but considering current hardware market Scrapyard wars would be pretty amazing as right now many people need "how to make a usable budget rig" more than ever 😉

Cris.py got a reaction from Cheburek in Crazy Europe prices
Seems very few people consider the fact that EU has much much higher VAT than US has sales tax, so even with "same starting price", anything in EU is 10-20% more expensive. That's just a start. The second thing is, we have different import taxes as well (GPUs even had 0 import tax policy in US for some time!) and lastly, EU market is not run by consumerism so hard, so stores are more inclined to having market prices vs US, where they just want to move more stock. That's why in US they even keep msrp at some stores, then scalpers resell these with market driven prices, whereas in EU we just have market driven prices in the first place.

Cris.py got a reaction from DeadnightWarrior in Where can I get a 2070 super level card?
Check used market for 2070 super and 5700 XT and be ready to pay about 3 times the price of a new one.

Cris.py got a reaction from Mark Kaine in Is it just me or are Nvidia HX mining cards a joke?
Ok, so Nvidia supposedly made a new line of mining cards to try and get more RTX to gamers, however the specifications they posted are a joke? It seems all HX cards are worse than any RTX 30 series or am I missing something? It really doesn't seem to solve the problem except maybe really low price...

Cris.py reacted to Tancraus in Project larabee gpu drivers
Hi guys,
I’m posting cause I was looking at the video about that project larabee prototype GPU Linus got a couple of years ago.
There’s a guy in the comments of that video that claims to be a developer in Crytek and that he has the drivers!!
after more than a year since his first response he’s still answering to ppl there on the video maybe you guys should contact him!
I’d love to see that card working!
hope I was helpful

Cris.py got a reaction from Loch in Recommendations for the current pc market... Stuck between a rock and a hard place...
May I suggest a 2nd hand GPU or even borrow one from a friend if anyone has something lying around since you plan to upgrade when possible. I did this, scored a temporary 780 for a six pack of beer and it it's actually more capable than I expected. Will swap for 3070 as soon as possible.

Cris.py reacted to WereCatf in I need a 3070 so I can complete my pc, I have to get rid on my laptop (dont question that) so I can do online school can someone help
You don't need a 3070 for school, you just want a 3070. Stop being such a spoiled brat: everyone else has a budget as well and everyone else has to wait for the cards just as you. There is no magic way of getting one quick without spending a lot more money.

Cris.py got a reaction from Mark Kaine in WTF is with EU prices?!
So I was waiting for 3060ti launch due to low stock/high prices of 3070 and 3080.
Launch happens, I go get my 3060ti and the cheapest one is 750eur?! What the hell is going on, this is more than expected price of 3080 and I'm not talking about scalpers but official stores ... is this going too far? AMD is not even sold here untill board partners launch their, so nvidia basically has a monopoly, what are we supposed to do anyway?
