Bombama got a reaction from Nord1ing in Google Maps - building numbers missing always, everywhere
Desktop web / mobile web / Android app / iOS app - everywhere. This bug started couple years ago. Super annoying.
Building numbers don't show up on maps at all.

Is there a way to turn them on as it was before? Or google reached peak minimalism and next step in "improvement" of UI is removing buildings and roads?

Using another map service is not a solution, none of them has even 1/10th of content that google maps offer in terms of roads, buildings, public transport, stores, reviews. I tried to use Apple Maps but it's useless. OSM also doesn't have data I need. Google maps 3 years ago were totally fine.

I've also experience that thing. I just turned the playback resolution to 1/8 and it seems to help a bit to smoothen the playback. Also I noticed one thing when you export it you have to select match source otherwise the result will be blank

Bombama got a reaction from Origami Cactus in Laptop for work and photography suggestion 2022 (4K, Ryzen, RTX)
    Hi, pepole.
My old laptop suddenly died and I needed new one for work urgently. So I HAD to buy Zephyrus G14 2021 with R7-5800 and RTX3050. It is ok laptop but what it lacks for me is good screen, webcam and 2 NVME slots. It has 1080p 140 Hz screen with super low color accuracy. After switching from 4K at 15" the low pixel density is super noticeable. And it doesn't have a webcam which I need for work (have to use USB camera now but it is super inconvenient and totally not portable). I couldn't buy better laptop at that urgent moment.

Maybe there is "people's choice" laptop that you can recommend? Here's what I need in it:
    1. 15" 4K with high color accuracy (may be OLED), may be high-refresh but not necessary.
    2. AMD R7+ 6th gen +
    3. 2 NVME slots.
    4. Webcam.
    5. RTX3050+
    Would be nice also:
    6. Left-side USB ports.
    7. SDcard-reader.
    8. Thin bezels.

Bombama got a reaction from JeanVeber in What do you use for screenshots on Windows 10?
BTW, I'm having a weird bug of Snipping Tool at another computer. The hotkey works only once. Next times it doesn't do anything. Only on that computer. On any other it works normally - you can make screenshots, but on that computer you have to reboot to make it work again. One-time offer, thanks Microsoft.
    I'm using FS Capture.

This video is letterboxed. 😞 You used to upload your custom aspect ratio videos, but now I have these black bars on top and bottom (in addition to sides). It ruins the experience a bit.

A rpi4 (with at least 2 gb RAM and a 'fast' 64gb SD card) would probably suit her fine for watching series and general word processing...it's not going to be the fastest thing in the world and I would look into how to boot off of a SSD. I think there are youtube videos of folks who did get that to work. Raspberry pi OS is very well laid out and should be simple for her to use...I'm sure you can also add cloud functionality too for storage.

For the record, I have several rpi zeroes and a rpi3 with the original sd cards going on 2 years with no issues...I use my rpi3 all of the time for tinkering with python...it's not terribly slow navigating the OS or using OpenOffice. It does struggle though with web browsing. However it is quite a bit slower than a rpi4 and only has 1 gb of RAM...

Bombama reacted to steelo in Raspberry performance and use as basic PC
The only rpi, I'd even consider for daily use is the rpi4 with at least 2gb or RAM. She'd have to learn how to use Raspbian though, which isn't hard...I doubt she'd be using terminal though. The OpenOffice suite isn't bad at all to use. As far as Netflix, hulu, etc, I believe there is an extension you can add to the chromium browser within Raspbian. Just have it set up and bookmarked so all she has to do is go to the page.

However, it does use a SD card which aren't nearly as durable (or fast) as SSD's. It will inevitably 'wear out' a lot faster...

If she'd be willing to stray from Windows, a cheap Chromebook may be another option for light usage...They are powerful enough to stream and shouldn't have any issues with what you said she'd be doing.

I would recommend looking at how the Snapdragon powered windows PCs perform as it will be about the same as the RPI. Mrmobile has covered many of these devices  and from what I remember, arm on windows works fine as long as you are running native ARM programs or web apps.

This is a known issue and Intel had done a paper on this. Please find link here.

The simplest solution (mentioned in the paper) and if it is practical for your situation is to use a USB extension cable and move the mouse receiver away from the laptop.

I would use veracrypt. They have an exe version that doesn't need to install, so you can just keep that on the USB drive so you always have it. Its much.... much more secure assume you set it up well.

That's not even a choice. 144hz to 165hz is barely perceptable if at all. TN to IPS is very easy to notice, especially if you look at the panel from the side. the 144hz IPS monitor should be quite a better choice.
    Have a nice day

Bombama reacted to 5x5 in Asus Caught Being Malicious - Zephyrus G15 has fan vents blocked by black paper. Reason Unknown
So recently, a few youtube channels and people on Reddit have taken to repasting their Zephyrus G15 models and have stumbled upon something very peculiar. The fan cut-outs for airflow are blocked by black paper for seemingly no reason. Asus have failed to give adequate reasoning as to why those covers exist as removing them yields a universal improvement to the laptop. Thermals go down by 5-10*C on both CPU and GPU and clockspeeds go up.

SPECULATION: The current hypothesis I've read here and on several other forums is that this is yet another bribe from Intel to make the mobile Ryzen 4000 look hot and bad. But that sounds a bit far fetched to me. While Intel have done VERY shady (and illegal things) in the past, we need more evidence to corroborate any such claims. Currently, it remains as Asus' retarded decision. But it's peculiar that this black paper has only appeared on the Zephyrus G15 and the older Ryzen 3750H-based GA502. The Zephyrus M and other Zephyrus models have all had open fan ventilation. This is the primary piece of evidence people have used to give credence to the Intel theory.

I welcome thoughts and opinions. @genexis_x and @LukeSavenije will have a fun time with this one I bet

Best thing since invention of additional buttons. Not helping in games but very handy in long scrolling of pages/text/zoom.

BTW, Logitech have significant issues with their software, especially G Hub. I have to use LGS just because G Hub is bugged as hell. Just telling to anyone who considers purchase of Logitech mouse.

I've seen this get some coverage, but not nearly as much as I think it deserves. I've attached a screenshot of the email below.

You should be able to use Logitech Gaming Software, I use it with my G513 and G502 and it works fine. I've tried GHUB, and it never worked well for me due to the bugs and not being able to use my on-mouse profile (which causes some weird acceleration issues). Maybe they'll work out the kinks though, and the last time I tried it was a few months ago.
