Bumbummen got a reaction from TechyBen in Why do people avoid Epic?
Wasn't there also a thread about this lately? I reme, ber that i already wrote up my toughts on that. But well, you are talking about their launcher. Epic Games is a good company and Sweeney a good dev! I like their Engine (switched from Unity) for stability and the availability of premium tools. Their launcher and asset store is great and you get a lot of free assets per month.

But for gaming i will stay on steam - ally my "gaming history" is there, messages from like 12 years ago and stuff. That said steam is a horrible security vunerability but since i only do gaming on this windows machine i do not really care.

Edit: Found it, not really the same topic but the answer is the same.

Canada’s Big 3 telecom firms will get 2 years to cut rates by 25%

So basically, the Federal Government just threatened the big cellphone providers to slash their prices by 25% to smaller data packages (between 2GB and 6GB), and if that doesn't happen, they'll use the CRTC (the regulatory board for telecommunication) to make sure they won't have access to new broadcast band that will become available (5G).

That's a bit heavy handed IMO, but any consumer in Canada is going to be happy to hear that!! Plans up here are ridiculously expensive, especially from the "Big 3".

Browsers or web-views normally come with pre-defined css. You have to actually reset those vendor defaults to start on 0 with all browsers and achieve the same behaviour. I'd suggest reading up about it here (just first google result). If i may give you an advice, take 2 hours of time and read into scss/sass, you will not regret it.

The lack of transparency and putting off announcing epic exclusivity, along with announcing epic exclusivity after the game has already been advertised for other store fronts isn't helping their image at all. If I knew a game was going to be epic exclusive from day one I wouldn't be happy, but there wouldn't be that feeling of betrayal from a last minute switch up. It gets even worse when the game is crowdfunded and getting final polish as they sell out to epic. There have even been cases of backer rewards being unavailable on their platform of choice due to the deal, not a good look.

Is it at your place or in an datacentre? What badnwith and infrastructure?

TBH WebHosting services already have big players, at least where i live, so getting into it commericially makes no sense at my location unless you are also providing the software or have many contacts.

But here are some ideas i did on my server:
    1) Get into a programming language and start collecting data. For example job offers, then do analysis on it yourself or sell access to it.
    2) Create a VPN for yourself you can use in insecure networks.
    3) Create a preload/download server for steam and stuff (only really viable if the machine is at your place/network)
    4) Create a homepage for yourself (or others and let them crowd pay your server and managing)
    5) Create free of charge micro web services, could slap ads on them later (Like free webspace, url shortener and so on).
    6) Install something like nextcloud for example

I ask that question myself a lot and it lead me to code a lot of useful tools that assist my daily tasks.

Edit: If you are a music collector, my next project is to setup an private FOSS spotify like service for my collection of local files.

I recall my uncle talking novels about the importance of rails and quality PSU's with plenty of headroom when i was young. I never really tought about the headroom in relation to rails but it makes a lot of sense. Yeah i never trust GPU vendor power requirements, i always use to look up the real power draw or use a calculator that has that data. I never understood how you should even threat/view that number they since they simply pull it out of their nose based on assumptions - and they do not tell you what they assumed

I had the epic launcher before Fortnite and before it was cool. I use it for Unreal Engine 4 & Squad SDK.

I am not a hater but i have/keep my libary on Steam mainly because i have been there for 10+ years, there is history to the friends list, groups, old posts etc. That is something that is missing for me personally on Epic and i will not be able to convince every friend to use it. I like the epic launcher but it is simply really in it's beginning as a platform and if we are honest it does not have all the features of Steam, espicially for communities.

Also i do absolutely not support exclusivity deals. I do not like to get patronized which launcher i have to use for the product i pay for. I work a lot so i do not have much time to play and if there is a year i between release and release i propably have already lost interest if it was not really really good since i already have my unit and our main games and there are also other new games coming out.

Keep in mind the PSU efficiency curve. Your PSU wont make it long on 100% avg.

What is a studio monitor in your opinion? What are your requirements?

Assuming you are talking about photography: Basically there are three standard technologies: TN (twisted neumatic), VA (vertical alignment) and IPS (In-plane switching). You propably want IPS due to it's big viewing angles but keep in mind that it does smear a little bit if the backlight panel is low resolution or plain out bad. Mine is perfectly fine tho. MicroLed would also be good and have way better contrast but would also cost a lot since it is cutting edge.

Maybe try to go into safe mode and repair/refresh windows. Also i would create an Linux USB media and boot from that, validating that your hardware is ok.

Sry i am not a native but if you are asking what Open Source is then i have it linked right there for you. Tldr it is software that comes with or does publish its source code in a manner that anyone can publicly access and even contribute (fix bugs, refactor logic, etc) to the source code - most of the time it is also licensed as "free".

Encryption can be done by hardware (accleration) but generally there will be performance overhead that you otherwise wont have.

Personally I would not even consider that on my gaming rig, every ms of frametime counts for me. Rather i would get a small notebook and choose an open source solution and just do, whatever i want to hide, there. Imo it is just not worth to pollute my gaming rig with more processes and overhead. I use an T495 with Ubuntu Eoan and LUKS.

With 0,1cm or 1mm i can imagine the air getting warm from the contact to the backplate, but with 4cm? I dont think so would be interesting tho to know the limit about this but i am no expert in thremal dynamics so idk but 1mm is too less. The thing is do you really want to try it out with new cards and maybe it does not work as expected or they are slower? Id re-mount it or get another case instead of different cards as that is definitely going to work, you wont loose any performance and with the latter one you will never have to think about this problem again.

How much space is in between your cards now? if 4cm is a huge increase than it would propably improve your temps. If you are technical affine and can handle tools i'd mount it sideways and maybe build a cage but if you don't want the hassle, espicially if you are going to upgrade the card again at some point, you could simply get a bigger case that will easily fit 2 big gpus and maybe even encapsulate them in terms of airflow, thereby making the problem not a problem anymore.
