Hey guys,
this is my first post here, I was lurking for a while but I thought with this question I am quite right here with you...
Since an hour or so my screen shows a small cluster of white pixels, I think its 4 pixels in a 2x2 pattern. I thought I had stuck pixels and began looking for ways to unstick them.
While playing around I noticed that if I had no signal Input on the switchen on screen (so backlight but no signal) there was no white dot at all. So I pluged in my old HDMI Cable and see there, no white dot anymore.
Back to the DP cable and its back again.
Can this be caused by a faulty cable? In my understanding digital cables work, or dont, and not work better or worse. But maybe I am wrong here?
I googled the matter and found absolutely nothing.
The screen worked fine with DP for just over 2 years, I changed nothing, it just appeared!
Any ideas guys?
Thanks in advance,
liquidmasl
Edit:
So I feel like to stupidest mofo out there right now..
What I did try:
different software to "unstuck" pixel
damp cloth and gently rubbing
Pressing on the pixel while restarting screen
Then I found out that the pixel aint white when the screen gets no signal (background illuminated but black).
Then I tried:
Use HDMI cable
Use different DP port on the GPU
Factory reset screen
change display settings
What solved the issue:
Closing Teamviewer or Overwolf.
Probably overwolf cause it is an overlay application.
What did I learn?
Restart computer before troubleshooting anything. Even "dead pixel".
I need a beer now.
Thanks Ziggy on discord to get me there!
