  1. You are right. Threadripper theoretically supports it but there is not a motherboard that allows it. Looks like epyc is the only AMD option for 512gb of ram or more.
  2. The 2990WX, which is based on their Zen+ microarchitecture, is fabricated on a 12 nm process. The 2990WX operates at a base frequency of 3 GHz with a TDP of 250 W and a boost of up to 4.2 GHz. This MPU supports up to 2 TiB of quad-channel DDR4-2933 memory. The 3970x supports 1TiB.
  3. Have you heard of A.M.D.? Lol. Look at threadripper or epyc. Instead of the 4000 dollar 8160, you can get an entire 32 core threadripper with all the system components for 4000. And the Threadripper 3970x was released in 2019 while the 8160 was released in 2017. I do not see a valid reason to go with intel. Even the 16 core ryzen 3950x costs like 750. Threadripper does support more ram and more PCIe lanes if you need that many.
  4. LOL. Those are top tier specs. I would opt for more NVMe storage with that price tag.
  5. TP link Archer T6e for just a WiFi card. about $35 I like bluetooth and personally have the MSI AC905C (which has WiFi and Bluetooth). about $30 As long as you get a good brand name you should be fine though. Asus AC 3100 (very fast). About $100 All the cards I listed are PCIe.
  6. For that board, I believe the ram goes in the 2nd and 4th slot. Make sure it is pressed in all the way. A click at the top and a click at the bottom. Also, you can reset the bios by shorting the vbat pins on the motherboard which should be near the little battery on the board. I would try those 2 things as those are problems I have had with used motherboards.
  7. Ok, will do. I have never heard of puget systems before, I will definitely check it out.
  8. I would suggest using Ubuntu or linux Mint as I found both very easy to use. I switched from Windows and Mac to Linux a few years ago and it wasn't that difficult. You don't really need to know how to use the terminal (which kinda scared me before I learned it) to use Ubuntu or Mint. Most of anything you need the terminal for is online anyway. I prefer Ubuntu now also and highly suggest trying it out.
  9. I think I am good on my GPU as I don't game at all. Will the 3900x be that much of a performance gain to my 2700x? I know user benchmark says it is better by 17% but I have been told they only really rate their CPU's based on gaming performance.
  10. I have a system built for video editing, programming, and machine learning/AI. I was wondering what might be the best upgrades for me to do as I have a few extra dollars to put into it (about $560). My current config is: CPU: Ryzen 2700x Cooler: NZXT x52 240mm Motherboard: MSI B450 tomahawk (mATX) Graphics Card: 1070 MSI seahawk (water cooled) RAM: 32G.B Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3200mhz (2x16 DR) Storage: HP EX920 1tb (NVMe) PSU: EVGA N1 750W (semi modular) Case: White darkflash mATX case Notes: I do not want to go full ATX, I like the mATX size. Also, I do not want RGB stuff unless I can set the lights to be solid white (fully expecting to be ripped apart in the comments lol). The only RGB I have is my cooler which I set to stay white.
  11. I would get an NVMe with PCI-e 4.0 if you are going to get the 3700x. The EX950 is 3.1.
