  1. I have a PCIe Gigabit card coming in Tuesday! I hope it works, but the fact the USB Lan port does the same thing as the motherboard one makes me weary.
  2. It's connected to a network switch, which is connected to the modem. I have tried different cables, and going direct into the modem. The CAT5e cable I'm using works fine for my old PC and Nintendo Switch. I have not tried connecting the Old PC to the New PC at this point.
  3. The lights will flicker. The same cable works with the USB lan adapter while plugged in the switch. and I get internet just fine when i plug it in to my old PC.
  4. The port's lights will been green and yellow on for just a second. otherwise the indicator lights remain off.
  5. Howdy Folks! I have an issue I've been trying to take care of since I built this PC a little over a month ago. . Specs as follows ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming 4S/AC i5 8600k 2x8gb 3600 DDR4 Win 10 Home RX 570 The reason I built a *new* PC using an 8th Gen Intel processor is because I got the processor for free! and that ASRock motherboard was the only thing I could really find without spending an arm and a leg for old hardware. ______________ The Original Issue: Onboard LAN with this lovely ASRock Z390 motherboard does not work. What Happens: The network port on the motherboard intermittently flashes. Orange & Green indicator lights on the port just flash for ~second at steady minute or so interval. What I've done: The classic reboot and pray - Did not fix. Disabled onboard Intel 1219-V ethernet thru the BIOS settings. Boot to windows, shut down, reenabled it in the BIOS- Did not fix. Disabled onboard WIFI to see if it was preferring wireless over wired? Did not fix. Swapped CAT Cables - did not fix. went from Network switch, straight to the Modem (or whatever Shaw's modem/router thing is called). - did not fix Took the m.2 wifi card out completely (this some how broke it?) - did not fix. My first thought was - "huh, that's weird, I wonder if it's shorting? - I took the I/O shield off completely thinking that would be the issue. (As this has been in the past for me) It was not. Alright - time to update the BIOS! the mobo originally had bios v1.00. Searching for a bios update lead me to find out that this lovely piece of equipment stays true to its name - it's a friggin' Phantom! Can't find jack on this thing. ASRock's website - doesn't have the 4S/AC on its website at all. I ended up finding it through Ibuypower's website thanks to reddit. The BIOS update did not fix the issue. I cannot use ASRocks Z390 Phantom Gaming 4 or 4S drivers it has to be 4S/AC Through Device Manager I hardware ID'd to get the appropriate drivers. Installed Intel 1219-V most recent network driver. Still getting the same intermittent light flash. I'm running out of ideas at this point. I tried my USB Network Adaptor that I use for my switch. Praying that this would be my saviour. It does the exact same thing that the motheboard does??? huh??! Intel's PROSet Adapter Config Utiilty - doesn't detect the onboard LAN. However - it does for that split second where it see's that connected @ 100MBPS, full duplex... Then mysteriously disappears. related to the indicator lights. ________ I've probably forgot to mention some things - this has been over the course of 6 weeks and I'm at my wits end. Has anyone experienced something like this? I thought it was a bad port on the motherboard, but the fact the USB adaptor does the exact same thing makes me think otherwise. I just hope there is something stupid simple I missed because this is driving me bonkers.
  6. Hi guys, I did a little bit of digging around but didn't find much. I'm just budgeting out some stuff to save up for and I'm wondering what midrange processor will be fast enough to give me near 0 latency while recording. I'd like to get to the point where i can do 14-16 recording inputs at the same time and I wonder if anyone has had any experience with building an Audio related computer. My old i53570k was good back in its prime. As of late though it's struggling with keeping low latency. I'm thinking AMD 3600X but i'm not sure which way to lean for smooth clean audio recording. Maybe i'm just over thinking ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if anyone has input feel free to share it!
