  1. Cheers for your advice. I have tried 2 different PSUs and 2 different cables with each PSU. There is no 120/220 switch on the PSU.
  2. Thanks for your reply. By "doesn't power up" I mean that I don't get to POST, the CPU fans do not start up and the EZ debug LEDs don't light up during the boot sequence as they normally do.
  3. Mobo: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (stock speeds) CPU cooler: Gelid Phantom (2 fans Gelid fans) GPU: Powercolor RX 5700XT 8GB (stock speeds), with 2 Arctic P12 PWM 120mm fans with VGA-PWM adaptor RAM: Corsair CMK16GX4M2D3000C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz C16 XMP 2.0 (running at XMP profile 3000Mhz speed) Storage: PNY CS900 480Gb and Crucial CT1000P1SSD8 P1 1 TB M.2 storage (boot drive) PSU: Riotoro Enigma G2 850W Case: DeepCool Mattrexx 55 (modded with front mesh panel) Fans: 4x DeepCool RGB, 1x Noctua NF-P12 OS: Windows 10 64-bit I recently modded the DeepCool case front tempered glass panel to a mesh panel and was putting the case back together, but the PC failed to power up - no EZ debug lights to the motherboard lighting up. There appears to be power going to the motherboard with the original PSU as there is power going to the USB port used for flashing the BIOS without a CPU (tested by plugging webcam with power light indicator which lights up when it is receiving power). Things that I have tried: Have swapped PSU - Initially thought it was the PSU, hence have tried to run it off a different PSU (ADATA/XPG Core Reactor 650W), but again same issue. Have tried starting it by jumping the JFP1 front panel leads in case I damaged the power switch on the front panel during modding, but again no power on. Assembled the motherboard with GPU and RAM on top a motherboard box outside PC case in case the case was shorting it Re-sited RAM, tried both sticks individually Removed CMOS battery to clear CMOS (removed for 1min, re-inserted) Attempted to start without GPU None these attempts have changed anything. It looks like there is something wrong with the motherboard, but I can't work out why - I didn't touch the motherboard during modding the front panel and it turned on without the front panel on. Is there anything I have overlooked?
  4. Was thinking of using something like the Kraken G12 + an AIO Has anyone had any experience with this on the 5700XT as a hybrid cooler?
  5. Budget (including currency): Flexible, but probably up to £300 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Mobo: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600 CPU Cooler: GeLid Phantom GPU: Powercolor 5700XT RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz C16 Storage: PNY CS900, Crucial P1 1 TB CT1000P1SSD8 Internal Solid State Drive-up to 2000 MB/s (3D NAND, NVMe, PCIe, M.2) Case: DeepCool Mattrex 55 Case fans: Noctua NF-P12 120mm fan (top exhaust) DeepCool CF120 120mm fan x4 (3 front intake, 1 rear exhaust) PSU: Riotoro Enigma G2 - PSU 850W +80 Gold UK Version Fully Modular Monitor: AOC Q27G2U 27" QHD VA 144Hz Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB Mouse: Corsair Harpoon Thinking about adding an aftermarket cooler to my GPU - the PowerColor stock fan gets quite loud when gaming, hot-spot/junction temps at around 85 degrees C. My main goal is to have my GPU run cooler without getting any hotter, but any added OC potential would be a bonus. I've been looking into a few options: AIO with GPU mount CPU cooler mounted onto GPU Fully custom watercooled with waterblock From what I gather, AIO with GPU mount and CPU cooler mounted would not necessarily cool the VRMs and mosfets, only the GPU die itself - is this still worth it? The only downside I can see with custom watercooling would be higher cost than the first 2 options and more time and maintenance spent to set up and run. I do note that the Mattrex 55 is a throttled at the front intake, so would improving that help? Any advice would be appreciated!
  6. Thanks for the advice guys! I ended up hedging my bets and running the cooler as I didn't think it damaged the heatpipe too much - temps dropped by 15 degrees and it is just so much quieter! Now I'm thinking about getting an aftermarket cooler my GPU (PowerColor 5700XT, not factory-overclocked) - not sure what the opinion is on this? I gather GPU coolers like Arctic Xtreme III and Raijintek Morpheus tend to focus on the GPU die and not the VRMs mosfets and memory, hence don't really increase the OC capacity but do improve from a noise standpoint. Does anyone have any additional input?
  7. Returned the CPU, got a replacement from Amazon. Swapped it out, now works!
  8. Really grateful for all the input. I'm gonna get my hands on a 3-4TB HDD for extra storage space and have purchased a cheap cooler on a whim. Ended up getting a Gelid Phantom CPU Cooler - but managed to drop it on opening I managed to re-straighten the fins out, but one heat pipe looks a bit flattened slightly - is this a cause for concern? See images below - the picture with the red ring is the damaged side, the one without the circle is the undamaged side for comparison.
  9. Good shout on the mesh. I'd rather not buy a whole new case, but I am looking into removing the tempered glass from the front panel (think it's glued on). Just now need to source some decent mesh. Does anyone have any recommendations for UK shops selling metal mesh?
  10. Budget (including currency): sub-£50, but can go up to £100 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Only gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Mobo: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600 CPU Cooler: Stock Wraith Stealth GPU: Powercolor 5700XT RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz C16 Storage: PNY CS900, Crucial P1 1 TB CT1000P1SSD8 Internal Solid State Drive-up to 2000 MB/s (3D NAND, NVMe, PCIe, M.2) Case: DeepCool Mattrex 55 Case fans: Noctua NF-P12 120mm fan (top exhaust) DeepCool CF120 120mm fan x4 (3 front intake, 1 rear exhaust) PSU: Riotoro Enigma G2 - PSU 850W +80 Gold UK Version Fully Modular Monitor: AOC Q27G2U 27" QHD VA 144Hz Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB Mouse: Corsair Harpoon Looking to upgrade my gaming set-up, partly to fulfil the need for a COVID-lockdown project. I have not yet tried overclocking Hoping to either to: Reduce noise Increase overclocking capacity Any ideas? I was thinking about upgrading the CPU cooler for a Gelid Phantom Black or second-hand BeQuiet! Dark Rock 4. Otherwise thinking about throwing in a 2TB HDD for extra storage for the future. UPDATE: bought a GeLid Phantom cooler, installed, much quieter with lower temps! Now I'm thinking about swapping the cooler on the GPU - any ideas?
  11. Thanks for the replies. I still haven't heard back from AMD regarding the RMA, except for an automated email. I've been trying to look for a customer support number to try and contact them on. Anyone got any other ideas?
  12. Hi all, Mobo: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (stock speeds, stock cooler) GPU: Powercolor RX 5700XT 8GB Dual Fan (stock speeds) RAM: Corsair CMK16GX4M2D3000C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz C16 XMP 2.0 (running at XMP profile 3000Mhz speed) Storage: PNY CS900 480Gb and Crucial CT1000P1SSD8 P1 1 TB M.2 storage PSU: Riotoro Enigma G2 850W Case: DeepCool Mattrexx 55 Fans: 4x DeepCool RGB, 1x Noctua NF-P12 OS: Windows 10 64-bit I recently built a computer in Jan-Feb this year, been running it since without any issues (specs above). Yesterday, sudden crash whilst watching YouTube in Chrome (NOT under heavy load) - no BSOD, just immediate power off. Attempted restart, but now the system won't post, with the EZ-debug light for CPU fail lighting up. I get a black screen, no MSI logo, no BIOS. I've not had any thermal issues that I've previously noted. Things that I have tried: 1. Cleared CMOS using jumper leads 2. Removed CPU cooler, reseated CPU, reattached CPU cooler 3. Re-flashed latest version of BIOS 4. unplugged GPU, case fans, 2.5" SATAIII PNY SSD (left Crucial M.2 storage in) 5. Removed 1 stick of RAM, tried running both RAM sticks individually in single channel, trying all the channels separately. 6. Swapped the PSU-CPU 8-pin power cable for another power cable. System powers on, still does not POST (black screen, no BIOS, no MSI mobo logo). CPU EZ-debug light flashes intermittently. I am under the impression that this is a CPU failure, but the other less likely options are a motherboard or PSU issue. I have contacted AMD for an RMA for the CPU, but I have not heard anything from them (only been 24 hours). Just a couple of questions: 1. I am under the conclusion that this is a CPU failure. Is there anything else I have missed? 2. What could have caused a CPU to suddenly fail? 3. How long does it take for AMD to reply to RMA requests? (I am based in the UK) Please let me know if there's any more info that would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
  13. So would there be any harms in just chucking in the CPU first to see if it boots, then flashing if necessary? EDIT: apparently some mobo's have a "Ryzen 3000 Ready" sticker on the front, does that mean it's pre-flashed? (I didn't buy extra thermal paste for my CPU as the wraith cooler already has pre-applied, so I don't want to have to remove it and buy thermal paste to re apply it)
  14. Thanks! Got a few questions regarding the suggested changes (so I can learn some more and make better decisions in the future!): 1. What was your rationale going for the Red Dragon version over the base Powercolor 5700XT? 2. What is the performance benefit with RAM at faster clock speeds? Or is it more about the latency As a side note: do I still need to flash the bios of the B450 motherboard for it to be compatible for 3rd gen Ryzens or will it be compatible out-of-the-box?
  15. Hello all, Just wanted some advice before I order the parts for the relevant build below. Mainly would like it for gaming at 1080p, maybe 1440p in the future. (and all the emulation, especially CeMU) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: Powercolor AMD Radeon Rx 5700XT 8Gb Motherboard: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC AM4 ATX RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16Gb (2x8Gb) DDR4 3000Mhz Storage: PNY CS900 Series 2.5inch SATAIII 480Gb PSU: Riotoro Enigma G2 Case: Deepcool E-Shield Specific question regarding the memory: I noticed that it is listed as "intel compatible" on the main corsair website. As far as my understanding goes, if the RAM fits in the slot, it should work, providing it is DDR4? Will having RAM which is not specifically AMD-compatible affect its clock speed? With regards to the other parts for my build, they were the cheapest for the given specifications and quality in my country (UK), without going for secondhand parts. Thanks for any advice given.
