hey manikyath, thanks for your response. Since I don't have the laptop in hand, I was hoping to see if folks had experience with those connectors and if a magic hdmi/display port adapter existed. I think I'm missing some vocabulary from my research. My experience working as a designer and CNC programmer leads me to want to rebuild the bezel (if the whole thing from scratch) and I might, to retrofit a screen as you say. Best, Alex

Hello all, I am proposing to repurpose the chassis of a 2000s era chunky dell laptop. All I need to work from the laptop is the screen. The rest of the original laptop will be gutted. I will have the rest of the new components from 2020 (motherboard, graphics card, power supply, drives) outside of the laptop chassis. I've looked up 30 pin connector adapters that could work with the HDMI outputs from a graphics card. Would that work in this case? Does a 30 pin plug also power a laptop screen? I have fabrication experience, and a bit of pc building experience. I'm open to suggestions, and am hoping to get wild. This will be a strange build. I have included a photo, borrowed from ebay, of a machine in the class/era I'm thinking of. Thank you, Alex
