  1. so turns out, explorer.exe is causing the spikes. idk how to fix that though
  2. Okay, I have that program, but I cant necessarily see what is hogging it. this is literally just sitting idly and got this..
  3. Understood, I will try and get back to you when I find out what's happening.
  4. I do that just to see what's going on, then I research it, seeing if I can disable it or something. Cant find anything to work. I have a program called "ProcessLasso" I think?? it monitors all that stuff but even still, I cant seem to fix it.
  5. I could be sitting idle at my desktop and the CPU will jump to 100% for like a second then back down to about 10%. it causes the screen to freeze for like a half second-full second. the CPU never reaches a high temp and GPU is a 1080 so it handles everything just fine. also when I play games, (ie rainbow six siege/war thunder), it'll max out at 100% for the entire time I am playing. Dont think that's suppose to happen... I am at a loss. when I get home today, I can post a screenshot of some monitoring software to show the spikes. I have an i5 7600K Kaby Lake. GPU is MSI GeForce 1080 Duke. I just updated to an 850W PSU over the weekend. Any Ideas??? the only one I have is that background processes are slowing it down, but I looked into the background processes taking ANY CPU resources and all of them are "necessary windows operations". I also completely blew away windows and reinstalled the OS. didnt seem to help at all. Thanks in advance.
  6. One more question... I've had more issues picking out a case than I have anything else... I wanna try and get a decent mid-tower with vertical GPU capabilities. Every one that I've found has very mixed reviews and I'm confused on how EVERYONE can either love it or hate it. Frustrating beyond all belief. https://www.amazon.com/NZXT-H510i-Vertical-Integrated-Water-Cooling/dp/B07TD9S3HZ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=nzxt+vertical+gpu+case&qid=1579727047&s=electronics&sr=1-1 this is what I've found that I really like. The vertical GPU seems to not need a riser card cause you can just screw it in vertically... am I correct??
  7. I really appreciate all you guys helping me out, especially linking the hardware for me. You guys are killer! I also appreciate you not encouraging me to get the next best everything, stating I dont NEED the new RAM. Grateful, really.
  8. I'll definitely look at those. Appreciate it guys! I'll keep this post open just in case others come up with good suggestions.
  9. It's not that I'm over intel, but if something is similiar in price but a bigger improvement, I'm cool with switching over. But I have no idea what an m.2 NVMe drive is. never heard of anything like that.
  10. G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15D-16GVR Pulled straight from Newegg's title
  11. So as of right now, I have an i5 7600K quad-core and havin issues with bottlenecking. Cant figure out the issue whatsoever so I'm sayin eff it, I'm getting a new set up. I'm just trying to make sure I dont get burned again by pickin crap parts. Here are the things I am okay with replacing: ASRock Z270 Extreme 4 Intel Motherboard Intel i5 7600K Kaby Lake quade core 3.8GHz processor IF NEEDED: G.Skill Ripjaws 16 GB RAM DDR4 I'm open to anything, really... I'm fed up with Intel to be honest. In case yall were curious, I'm using a GTX 1080 Duke for GPU. Any thing will help! Thanks!
