  1. I think i have decided to go for the attached image below. let me know what you all think.
  2. The 2070super part was my thought too as I know the 3600 doesnt have integrated graphics. I will take a look at others builds to get an idea, then I will make a decision sometime to either build my own or buy one. I am definitely leaning on just buying one but its restrictive software/paywalls that would concern me. As well as any cloud stuff or anything. Not sure what SMR hard drives are, but I will lookout for that nonetheless. I should learn/lookup/watch something about RAID and stuff as I do not know the difference. Thank you
  3. I see. I was definitely leaning towards buying one from a NAS company. I am just sill concerned that the software might be annoying or not let me easily do what i need to do. Not too concerned with power consumption. I do know the GPU would be overkill for nas, but my thought process was to use it to initially setup my NAS because the 3600 doesnt have intergrated graphics, then once its setup and going, I can simply take it out.
  4. Hi, So I recently watched a Linus video of them building a NAS. I had no idea what a NAS was before this and I've discovered it's something i very much need and I cant believe I've never heard of it before. I have a multitude of cables and external HDD's all named something different for different things. Backups of old laptops, old phone photos and media, old university work, new university work, new photography work, and even my hobby of astronomical photography stuff! All of this is not-so-neatly contained on around 4 seperate hard drives/ssd's/SD cards. It's always been a pain and causes me a headache when i have to find an old file or something thats important like government documents. Anyways, I was looking up reviews of NAS's and googling about them and in conculsion: i'm lost and confused. I managed to build my own PC last year and I can make some .cmd's for photography file transfers, but I do not know anything much about coding or software side of things. I do not like paying subscription services or having anything in any "clouds" as I dont trust them. I am open to buying a "plug'n'play" NAS like synology but I'm not sure what their software stuff is like - i just want to access my files and folders when i need to and I want to be able to backup stuff I want backed up, easily. I have no plans to use it as a media server or to stream anything from it or use it for games. Just basically a backup and place i can neatly sort out and store all my files and folders. I am not against building my own one, however I fear i may do something wrong and/or lose my data because im not very tech literate - I can follow a youtube tutorial pretty well though. I have some parts I think could be useful: Ryzen 3600 with its cooler 2070 super an ATX powersupply i think is like 750Watts I dont have extra memory, case or motherboard but i am happy to buy whatever. Same goes for the HDD/SSD (whatever is recommended to use) I have also never used linux, but I hear its not too difficult to figure out. In terms of what I value the most out of this would probably be the safety of the info first, then ease of use to backup stuff, then price and speed. Thank you for reading all this and thank you for any advice people have that they may send my way. I get overwhelmed with this stuff fairly easily which is why im not against just buying a NAS from somewhere thats reccomended - I just thought seeing as I have an old CPU and GPU lying around I may save myself some money. Also I could use a completely offline, no subscription, software that just lets me access the files - no streaming server or gaming server stuff. I love you all, you're all very helpful. Thanks. 5. i could check the system tasks. I am definitely running all the latest BIOS and drivers. The system is rebooting im pretty sure. Its like I hit the restart button. and theres enough air for the psu and other things and it never has felt hot to the touch. The GPU is a little old and i did OC it before. Now i dont overclock it. I can give my case a clean with compressed air but looking at it now it seems perfectly fine. One thing you mentioned was I did undervolt the cpu according to some youtube videos. In fact, it may still be undervolted to -12 or so. As it wasnt stable enough to go to -20. If i have damaged my cpu doing that then, i aint gonna lie, im real pissed. all the videos i saw about undervolted ryzen said its really safe. I will set the cpu to default with no undervolt and see if the restart happens again. Although, these restarts did certainly happen with my old 3600 which i did not undervolt or overclock. I think the only thing in common here is the motherboard. Which sucks if i need a new one, as this one wasnt cheap Thank you for your reply
  6. Hello, I have been having this issue sporadically for about a year now. At first it was very rare, however its been happening more frequently now (around once or twice ever 2 weeks). Randomly, especially while playing games, my pc will just... restart. it will then boot back up, no blue screen, nothing. I even checked event viewer and i cant see anything that it would say is wrong apart from an unexpected restart. Now, to explain everything might be a bit long but before that below are my PC specs: GPU - MSI 2070super CPU - AMD 5800x MoBo - Gigabyte X570 I Memory - G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB PSU - Cooler Master V850 SFX GOLD 850 W Case - Cooler Master NR200P CPU Cooler - Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 running two monitors, 1440 and a 1080 If I have missed any other useful specs you can let me know. When I first built my PC on the 11th of January 2020, I encounter a blue screen after 30 minutes of usage. This problem was caused by my memory not being supported at 3600Mhz. To fix this, I underclocked it to 3200Mhz and have kept it there ever since without issue. (Originally my specs had the ryzen 3600 and a 750W corsair PSU. I was also using the NZXT H200 case) Even back then, I did sometimes have this random restarts issue, although it was much more rare than now. Fast forward to when I replaced my case, CPU, and PSU, I accidentally used my CableMod cable from my old corsair PSU on my GPU. At this time, the PC would simply not turn on, and my new PSU would make a *click* noise and then a light on the MoBo would blink. After 5 minutes of googling I found the issue, replaced the cable with the one that came with my Cooler Master PSU and turned it on with no issue. After a few days, while gaming, my PC would randomly restart. No errors, no blue screen, even Event Viewer wouldnt say anything other than unscheduled restart. So, I ran MemTest over night (8hrs) and got zero errors. And here I am today. Writing this after yet another random restart in the hopes someone might be able to give me an idea of what is causing my PC to restart. This happened on my old PSU and CPU as well as my new ones. I also cant exactly replicate the restart cause i dont know what causes it to restart. I should also add, that my temps under load are pretty good for a small form factor case. My CPU never goes above 75c and my GPU never goes above 81c. Honestly the only thing left that might be causing the issue could be the electric outlet / the electricity coming from the outlet to the PSU. Unfortunately I cant really fix that and I have no idea to test if my home electricity isnt stable or something. I was posting on here to ask if failing hardware somewhere could cause random restarts without errors. I have updated drivers and BIOS. Could I have damaged my GPU with the wrong cable incident? Will a UPS solve the issue? If so, which UPS would you recommend as I have no clue about UPS's. I have attached the HWMonitor after doing a 3DMark timespy run as well as the timespy score incase that helps anyone. Sorry for such a long post here. I just want to put all the info I have out there in the hopes someone might have an Idea to the issue that's better than those non-descript websites that list the same trial and error solutions over and over. Thank you, Fudge HWMonitor_11-10-22_3dmarktimespy.txt
  7. I built my PC back in January and have been enjoying it since. However, recently, I have been getting MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors while playing videogames. Like Apex Legends and Doom Eternal. I contacted Microsoft support and he took a look at me motherboards QVL and noticed my memory is not listed there. Motherboard: Aorus X570-I Pro Wifi Memory: F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC [32Gb 3600Mhz G.Skill tridentZ Neo] The motherboard QVL for my CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) doesnt have my memory listed. But the memory QVL does have my motherboard listed. So, I am running into these memory management blue screens quite often while playing games and was wondering if I really do need to buy some new ram. And if so, which comparable one would work best? i.e. a 2 stick 32GB 3600Mhz ram. Memory QVL Motherboard QVL
