  1. Mobo: ASUS Z790-P Prime WiFi
 Cpu: i7-13700K Gpu: MSI RTX 4070 Ram: G.Skill 32GB DDR5-6000
 Bios ver 0812
os: windows 11
Headphones: hyperx cloud 2
I built my pc 1 days ago I was trying to play some games last night and noticed that the mic on by hyperx cloud 2 headset was not working. I updated my drivers to see if that was the issue but the computer is not detecting the mic only the headset. I can hear the games just fine but specifically in Fortnite, I can't even hear the other people in the game. (The game won't allow me to join game or party chart even though I switched my mic to the headset as well as the audio) My computer is also not picking up the mic, I tested it to see if it picked up audio from my mic and it does not. I am using the usb connector and I have also plugged it into 4 different usb ports to see if that was the issues and I can hear out of all the ports just fine. Any thoughts on where to start with trouble shooting this?
  2. Hey everyone, I am building my first pc in a fractal torrent compact, I have everything set up and it turns on and temps are normal. I have a Z790-P PRIME WiFi Intel LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard And i cant find where to plug in this last cord that starts at the top of the case. Its not apart of the psu. It came attached to the case and it attaches to a metal plate on the top of the case where the psu compartment is. To me it looks like a grounding cord but i dont know where it plugs into on the motherboard. Any thoughts? (I attached an image of the plug and where it starts at the top of the case)
  3. Very interesting. 250 is nothing to sneeze at. I did noticed you swapped the nvdia for an amd gpu, why is that?. I also really like that pop case. Maybe i should build my own.
  4. Great! Thanks for the info. How much do you think I would save if I built it myself? A similar build except probably swapping out the cooler.
  5. I just saw this on new egg and I was wondering if this was a good price for this pre-build pc? I am looking for my first computer and this is about $150 over my budget but I spec'd a pc for a 4070 and 1tb hd https://www.newegg.com/msi-aegis-rs-13nuf-464us/p/N82E16883151284?Item=N82E16883151284
  6. I am looking for a new laptop I have one with a 2070 and I do a lot of streaming and video editing on it. I have recently started to travel more and was wondering what the best laptop would be for that? I play the usual games COD, CS Go, and GTA 5. Right now I game at 1080 but would like to increase that if I can. I also use OBS to stream and then edit clips and sometimes longer streams as well. I am looking for a laptop that can do both. I like intel better than amd since I have had trouble with amd laptops in the past. If my budget is around $2,700 what is the best laptop? And if money is no option but I am still trying to be reasonable what laptop do you want?
  7. Good to know, I am going to see if I can test out some laptops before I buy them, do you have any examples of what a laptop that is trying to be a desktop replacement might be? Just so I know which ones to stay away from. or is it pretty much all laptops with a 3080 in it? Or some other way to identify them?
  8. I am starting to travel more, and I am wondering what a good gaming set up will look like? I like to play Call of Duty, Fortnite, and other team games. My previous laptop got pretty loud about 20mins into gaming, and the fans were audibly noticeable through my mic by my teammates. I would prefer to change that, I currently have a gaming pc so I switched to a Macbook pro M1 Pro for my laptop which is very quiet, if not silent for all my work applications. And I love that, but it does not handle games well. I play at 200fps on my gaming pc for Fortnite and 90fps on call of duty. To me it seems like fps is more important for me on Fortnite, since I am about the same on console and pc for call of duty and the fps between 60 and 140 don't seem to help but I like the way the game looks with the fps around 90 but for Fortnite I am What would you recommend for a quieter gaming laptop, or is that just not possible for pushing the laptop for hard? trying to keep it under 2.1K if possible. I know that might limit my fps but I want to know my options first.
  9. I think i have cable internet. I have cox and 500 mbps up and 100 down
  10. Hey everyone, I currently have my ISP's 2 in 1 modem and router, and I am having some issues with connection and speeds depending on the time of day and how many devices are connected to the router. I was wondering how much it would cost to get a router and maybe a modem as well that can handle all the different devices we have in the house. 3 phones 3 tables 3 laptops (not all connected at the same time, mainly the phones are usually connected) 3 streaming devices 2 gaming consoles and 2 smart home devices. I am not sure what type of solution I am looking for but I would like a smoother experience with my wifi especially when streaming videos, often we get a service interrupted notice not every episode but maybe every 3rd episode. It would be nice to have that not happen. And often on my phone, it has trouble loading the YouTube homepage for the app or the first video. then its usually good after that. Edit: I am looking for a recommendation for purchasing a new router and maybe modem or figuring out how to have that smoother experience we are looking for
  11. Thanks for taking the time to share, this really helps and will save me some money too.
  12. Budget (including currency): 2000 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Warzone, Fortnite, Skyrim 1080p Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am trying to figure out if it will be money saved in the long run if I buy ddr5 now since I want to upgrade in the future. Since if I pay for ddr4 now, ill have to buy a new motherboard and ram anyway. So does it makes sense to buy ddr5 now and 1 motherboard and 1 set of ram rather than 2 of each?
  13. Hello, I noticed the 12700 and F version have a TDP of 65W but the K and KF versions have a TDP of 125W Does this mean the stock performance is better with the K and KF versions? or does the increased performance come from overclocking? Or am I getting getting the same stock performance for a lower energy cost? or something else?
  14. Budget (including currency): under 504 for MB and RAM Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details: Trying to finish a gaming rig parts I have selected CoolerMaster NR200P Max (comes with 850w PSU and 280mm Radiator) I7 12700kf RTX 3070 ti Suprim (Unless GPU prices continue to fall I don't want to spend more than 1000 on a gpu right now, was hoping to get an 3080 for under 1k but we will see) https://pcpartpicker.com/list/33zyk9 1tb M.2 My question is, I am looking for an ITX motherboard with 2 usb type C preferably 1 thunderbolt but that's fine if it isn't, I have been switching over to usb c for some time now and have enough to want 2 ports on my computer. unfortunately my case does not have one, that would have been nice. I don't mind DDR4 or 5, its the ram cost for ddr5 for the same performance I could get on ddr4 that is killing me on the price, I would like to get a MB + Ram selection that is less than $504 and I don't know if the motherboard I currently have selected is able to overclock my CPU. And if it isn't, I was thinking of going with the other version of the i7. I also have an old Dell XPS 15 laptop I want to use the ssd from its an Samsung evo 970 and I am not sure what key it is or if it will find in my motherboard or not https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MFZY2F2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 The NZXT H1 mini I think have 2 usb type c's on it but I can't remember if its one on the case and 1 on the board but I remember seeing 2 on it somewhere but I don't want to go with the 10k series from intel I was hoping to use the current gen ones. So I guess my 3 questions are 1) Is it possible to overclock on the motherboard I have selected? 2) Can I get a MB + RAM combo for less than $500 with 2 usb type c 3) Can I use PCI Gen 4? Will that effect my gaming? Other notes: my case doesn't get in until early May, I was going to cancel it but that gives me time to see if the gpu prices will fall, I could run the i7 with integrated graphics and that could hold me off to June/July but I am worried if I wait that long, its only a little but longer until maybe the 4000 series will be announced and hopefully be at msrp if I can preorder it. and I do live close-ish to a micro center, I have never been there but the legends say that they have items msrp.
  15. Thanks for the build out I just have a few questions, why that version of the CPU? Is it worth have the integrated graphics one? And is that cooler a good one? I heard from stories of failed water cooled units, I am not familiar with the brands or reviews just what I remember hearing about. And do I want a bigger radiator? Is that one big enough to cool my cpu for long gaming sessions? And then also what is the noise level of the cooler? I was hoping to get a quieter pc if I could and it fit in my budget even if I had to get different storage like a 500gb and then a 2tb hdd (or some other kind of combination) in order to get a cooler that is large enough and quiet enough.
  16. Yea that would work as well, I just need it to be the same size or smaller than the Q300L. I do not mind at all switch between Micro ATX and ITX. Just looking for a small and cool machine. I was also going with the mini tower because it had room for a larger radiator since in my mind it makes sense If it has a larger radiator it would be better at cooling. But I am not sure if that is backed by any data.
  17. Budget (including currency): 2,200 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I would like to mainly game on it. Run Warzone, Fortnite, and Rainbow Six Siege at over 200 fps (and other popular titles like that) (maybe VR capable if that fits in the budget) Other details: *this will be my first pc build* So I do not plan to overclock anything or do to much extra stuff to it, I am just a average guy and do not want to have to trouble shoot if the overclocking ends up messing things up. Trying to build a mini tower pc that is portable with a handle preferred. I would like to fit it in this case: Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case I would like to put in the 12th gen i7 intel chip and I would like to have it water-cooled as well. What would be recommended for a build like this? I would like to be around 2,000-2,200 if that is possible. I am not sure with the prices of the gpu market right now.
  18. I am looking for a prebuild mainly due to gpu avaliability and for a little bit more money I don't have to worry about water cooling. Although that is my second question about water coolers. I like the look and handle of the Hyte Revolt 3 but I would prefer the IO to not be on the bottom. Although the headphone holder is nice too. Any recommendations? I would like 12th gen intel (although for a low enough price I don't mind going lower) water cooled rtx 3070 or 3070 ti (I can go with the 3080 but that doesn't seem to be in my budget price) And the handle is a must as well. 32gb of ram preferred my second question is what makes a good water cooler? How do I know its dependable and not going to break or leak ect? Edit: I am not a big fan of RGB because of where I have to put the computer which is in my line of site and it bothers my eyes gaming for longer session and at night. So if I can save some money not going RGB I would prefer that too.
  19. I am almost done with my first computer build, and i just noticed that the cpu i am looking at purchasing says it supports DDR4-3200 and DDR5 but i bought ddr4 3600 ram from ripjaw. is this going to be an issue for me where i will need to change out the ram or will i be okay? I am not sure how compatible ram is across the board, pc part picker does not give me warning about it so i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on why it wont work or why it will work. thank you!
  20. Okay i appreciate the feedback, is this the case you are talking about? and how do i know how the airflow is on the case? Phanteks Eclipse P400A Black Computer Case - Newegg.com Also, when you say swap the fan, you can change the fan on your psu? Is that difficult, this is my first build.
  21. Budget (including currency): Trying to stay under $600-$700 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Call of Duty (Mainly Zombies if that matters), Fortnite (I play this one the most, i would like to get as close to a solid 120-140 fps with either high or pro settings as possible, the goal is to have it be at least as good as the new xbox with a locked 120fps), Rainbow 6 Siege, CS, Farming Simulator, and Old School Runescape (i hear this is really hard to run) I also want to use it as a main hub of all my photos/videos/music. its about 400 gbs of stuff but i am planning on expanding it. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Parts I have that are not included in this remaining budget Case: Be Quiet Silent Base 601 with 2 case fans + 1 extra be quiet case fan PSU: Be Quiet 650w RAM: 32 gb Ripjaws series V 3600mghz 2x16 Storage: 1tb crucial m.2 ssd + 1tb crucial sata ssd *CPU: Core i5 12600k (I have not bought this yet but i have the 299 set aside for a cpu but if it makes sense to go with an older cpu to save money and or energy, i am willing to do that) I need a motherboard and a graphics card mainly so i guess i have about 900-1000 for CPU/Motherboard/Graphics Card. I also like the idea of the efficiency cores from the latest intel cpu's im wondering if that will save me on using electricity. My other question is, realistically what should i expect to pay for a graphics card? I have some other games i really enjoy playing with friends and some emulated games like the old pokemon and zelda games i really enjoy playing. So i dont need a gpu from the start but i would like to if its not going to be to much extra money. I dont want to be overpaying for something over msrp to much. Any thoughts on the build so far? I can change out some parts ive already bought if it can help get to my goal easier. I read a review on my case that said that motherboards with a armor cover might not fit in it, so i dont mind changing out the case or making sure i dont get that kind of motherboard. Either one works for me.
  22. Thank you for responding! But i like the idea of G-sync? and that is intel only? (I am not familiar with this level of detail with pc building) (I should even say "I think i like G-sync?")
