Couldn't you just select from the `messages` table directly? SELECT * FROM `messages` WHERE `self_id` = 459937721 ORDER BY `time` DESC; There are a few things I would change with the schema as a whole. I would add foreign key constraints and potentially cascade on delete. Also `self_id` should probably be `member_id` since that seems to represent the data more accurately. To add to all of this, redis or a pub/sub system like AWS SNS or Pusher would be more ideal than MySQL.

I've been getting really inconsistent results with Time Spy. https://www.3dmark.com/compare/spy/29374482/spy/29372871 You can see from the comparison that both results are widely different due to low GPU usage in one. I cannot seem to get back to a "normal" result now. I've tried the following: Nvidia Control Panel: Disable GSync Disable VSync Power: Prefer Maximum Performance Windows: Power: High Performance Safemode DDU and reinstalled graphics driver Exit all background apps Reset Bios PBO on and off My games seem unaffected and are using the expected +95% usage. It's just seems to be 3d Mark. Specs in signature.

Look at using a system builder, even with their mark-up the prices still end up much cheaper than the scalpers.

Just a quick update, those scores were not normal. The issue was that I forgot to set Windows power settings to Performance. Scores are now much higher: https://www.3dmark.com/pr/983640

So I just (finally) received my system from Maingear. I went through them this time because parts are impossible to get ahold of. I placed my order back in late December. I called to see how much longer it would take and they told me likely another 3-4 weeks but said they had a cancellation on a system very similar to what I picked out and that they could swap and give me that system and ship it right away. I took that as does have the same core components and was slightly cheaper. I was also concerned with power draw, is an 850w enough for a system like this? I saw some mix discussions. Maingear assured me it was more than enough. I ramped the fans on the GPU to 100% and ran another test with a slight overclock and only gained +500 score which is still below average for a 3090 it seems. I know you may be happy with your 1080P monitor but I would seriously consider looking at 1440p or even better a 1440p ultrawide. The bump in resolution, especially ultrawide, is very noticeable in almost any game.

I think you're better off waiting to see what Ryzen 3 offers. If Ryzen lives up to the hype it will likely be better than Intel even for gaming so your main system might as well be Ryzen based.

Thanks for the feedback! From what I gathered the 3700X is likely going to be the most cost-efficient SKU. The reason I'm looking at the 3900X is mostly for the added cores for virtualization. I plan to run some docker containers and will likely do some media streaming from the system as well. So this will act like a server and a gaming system all-in-one.

So I think its time to finally build a new system. I'm on the fence with doing my first custom loop or not. This is what I'm looking at part-wise (as long as reviews hold up with Ryzen 3). CPU: AMD Ryzen 3900X Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VIII Hero (or Formula if I do a custom loop) GPU: RTX 2080TI (Asus OC or Nvidia reference if I do custom loop) PSU: Asus Thor 850w Ram: Corsair Vengeance 64GB Storage: PCIE 4 1-2TB (waiting on reviews) Case: Fractal Design Mesify S2 (open to others) I'm also looking at the Asus PG35V now that it's finally starting to ship, of course, I want to see reviews on it first. Some things to note: I've normally gone with an AIO in the past as its easy and I don't have to maintain anything. My current build (in signature) has held up well until just recently (I think the SSD is going). Budget isn't really an issue but at the same time, I am looking to make somewhat smart decisions as I plan to have this system for several years while only having to do minor upgrades (GPU) over time. I am open to keeping my current 1080TIs until 3080TI comes out as well but who knows when Nvidia will release that. I don't plan to have SLI with my next GPU (not worth the headache and there is no gain at my resolution 3440x1440). I've also never done a custom loop before. I feel pretty confident I could do it but I want to avoid the maintenance of it. How often do you guys swap fluids or drain/clean the blocks? Any input is appreciated.

I originally had this thread in General but it got moved to Software section, I just hope this gets enough attention to save people time and money. They offered a refund, I have to follow-up on that still. The money involved isn't the real issue for me, it's more so that they are pushing this as an upgrade when clearly it isn't. As a software developer myself, I can see what the long-term goal is. They are converting a local app to be cloud driven so that they can run it more like a SaaS application, which basically means they can charge you for "features" or "upgrades" over time. The problem is that this changes the communication layer. Before, you would have two or more networked applications communicating with each other directly on the same network. The new version sends input from your system to one of their cloud servers and then back down to the other clients. This means that if there is ever a connection failure between you and the internet or you and their servers, the application becomes useless. The other problem is that there is no way to configure anything or even start/stop the service within the UI. This is just sloppy and rushed so they could promote it throughout CES knowing they'll make a ton of money. I just cringe now when I see it promoted on LMG content because they are better than that. This is exactly what I'm talking about. The auto-config service goes down randomly and just leaves the program completely useless... There are no configuration options. I don't know why LMG continues to push this... @nicklmg

Wow, I didn't realize the off-topic section was for members only... That makes it even more shady. The entire section is filled with people complaining about the 2.0 release. This release seems like it's just a big money grab. They hide any thread exposing the 2.0 version for what it is. Really hope LMG can look into this. Thanks for the suggestion @GoodBytes! As you guessed though, I am using Synergy for the cross-platform functionality. Synergy 1.8 is still great but after being spammed with "Upgrade to Synergy 2.0 today!" nearly every day in my inbox I discovered the hard way that it is a mess. Even today I tried using 2.0 and the auto-config service was down again. To make it worse, their support is away until January 8th! I guess they like to take long vacations now that they charged all those upgrade fees... Really hope LMG does a PSA on it if they are going to continue to support and advertise them.

I discovered Synergy, a program by Symless, through one of the ad spots on the LTT videos. It worked great, exactly as advertised and well worth the purchase. However, they've recently released a 2.0 version which removes a lot of functionality and even becomes completely unusable when their "auto-config" service is down - which happens very often. I have reached out to their support forums and found many other users complaining about this newer version as well. To make it worse, there is a $49 upgrade fee to go from 1.0 Pro to 2.0 Pro. The 1.0 version allowed you to configure hotkeys, remap keybinds, setup dead zones, start and stop the service and so much more while the new 2.0 version has literally zero options. The only way to stop the 2.0 program is to go into Window services and stop it. On a Mac, you need to run a shell command as root. I wouldn't have a problem if this was labeled as beta or if the upgrade was free but that isn't the case. To make it worse, there are many times when the new version cannot connect to their "auto-config" service which makes the program completely useless. I know LMG takes its advertisers serious and I hope this will draw a little attention and save people money/hassle involved with the newer version. Stay away from the 2.0 and stick with 1.8.

Looks like I'll be going with the 7900X for my next build. I plan to do a full detailed thread of the build later this year with custom water loop. Looking forward to it, hope the reviews go well for these new cpus.
