@minibois Okay great, I'll put it back on now. This is what it looks like . Really appreciate the help. I suppose if it's running bad I can always clean and apply new paste but I figured I'd rather do it properly now than later.

@minibois Yeah it's brand new hasn't been run but I did mess the nice paste up.

@minibois Just managed to get it off and the CPU didn't come with it so that's a bonus. The question is now that I've messed up the thermal paste because I had to spin it and twist it to get it off do you think I should purchase more, and should I just add a dot or clean off the whole thing and then apply?

@Constantin I just got it off! I flipped the board and used the backside to get it free. Do you think I will be right without applying more thermal paste because I really had to twist the cpu around to get it off and it messed up the paste a bit

@Constantin I figured it should be easy which is why I think I've fucked something up, I think the screw has gone weird or something here is a video of me unscrewing, I just keep doing that and it seems to go no where, it also peels the paint off the spring. When I try to pull it off the board I cannot easily and the board bends. The screws don't seem to want to come loose of the board.

Hi guys, I am in the process of building my PC and I got a bit too excited and put the CPU fan in the wrong way (I have 4 memory sticks that I need to put in and it blocks them). Naturally I went to unscrew it and flip it around but there seems to be some sort of mechanism that prevents it from coming off. Something to do with the springs. See pictures here and here. I don't want to break anything and I'm also hoping I haven't ruined the thermal paste on the CPU because I don't have any more with me. Any help would be appreciated. I've watched youtube videos but they all seem to be able to take it off just fine, perhaps I screwed it in wrong?

@VEXICUS You mean used like second hand? There's an rx580 here on sale https://www.umart.com.au/MSI-Radeon-RX580-ARMOR-8G-OC-Graphics-Card_39382G.html would that be worth getting?

@VEXICUS okay great I'll see what I can get within Aus that's 3600. Lastly, does it matter which of the 1650 super's I go with? i.e. there is asus, evga, inno3d, etc. some have one fan, some have two. Is there any difference between them all?

@Jumballi + @19_blackie_73 okay I've changed over my storage to the Silicon Power A80 512 GB that @VEXICUS recommended because it is slightly cheaper than the ADATA XPG SX8200 and I am presuming it is still tlc? I can't figure out how to check. In my googling I have come to the consensus that because I will be using it for my os I should aim for tlc. As for the ram that vexicus recommends, I would have to ship that one to Aus, I'm not seeing any stores that sell it here so I might see if there is another 3600MHz if you really recommend it.

@Jumballi Appreciate the help! I've changed the graphics card accordingly. Also, I am using my old computers HDD's so I have plenty of HDD storage @19_blackie_73 okay, I've changed the NVME over. I don't know what TLC SSD's are, I don't know a lot about storage or computers in general which is why I've posted here for help. I will leave the GPU for now, but depending on the final cost after updates I will consider upgrading! Thanks so much for the help thusfar guys!

1. Budget & Location Between $1000-$1500 AUD (Australia). Will not go over. Will be using my old PC's HDD's and power supply 2. Aim Main aim will be for video editing (4k using premiere pro) and photo editing (Lightroom/photoshop). Secondary to that will be general use/general multitasking. Monitors I have one monitor at the moment it is a 27" running at 2560x1440@60Hz. I am looking at getting another smaller monitor to use just as a side monitor, nothing more than 1080p. 4. Peripherals Not needed. 5. Why are you upgrading? PC is slowing down quite a bit and is taking a while to buffer, load, and export footage when I'm editing now. My case is also way too big for my desk so I wanted to get a smaller case but that means buying a new motherboard at which point I figured if I am upgrading my SSD, motherboard, and case I might as well throw in a new CPU and GPU and do the lot.
