  1. Its cost prohibitive. LED panels are expensive. Also an LED wall that size will have weight restrictions. Something that size would need a ground support wall and a hung wall, then powered down to mate the two together. That wall would cost several hundreds thousand dollars to rent. The purchase cost would would be in the millions.
  2. Hello, Linus and team. This was such an excellent video. I work in the A/V industry, and seeing it get some notice is cool. I've been a video engineer for nearly 25 years and dabble in projection occasionally. I wanted to share a photo of the biggest projection map I've been a part of. 48 projectors in total, the front main screen was over 300' long, seamless with scenic elements. (We had columns that were projection-mapped, the projectors are on their side.) 6 Projectors for delay screens and one projector backstage for the client viewing area.
  3. This is what drove me away from AMD. I had 1 card, 10 years ago (can't remember which AMD card it was) and it was a driver nightmare. I love that NVidia drivers seem to make their cards better, even older cards. That's been my issue with AMD's video cards. Funny cause I jumped into AMD CPU's for the first time in 20 years with my new rebuild. (800mhz Athon 64bit was the last time I used one) I guess you can liken AMD to a modified/ hot rod car. You have to manage the weirdness to keep it running well.
  4. Yeah, I'm not in a position to buy just yet. So I have time on my side but I do know these cards are my next upgrade. Currently running a 1060. I just wanted to open my options and see how AMD was doing. I'm not kidding when I say I've been nVidia for nearly 20 years. So I have no background with AMD
  5. So I've been a die hard team green for nearly 20 years. With the new cards on the horizon I wanted to reach out to team red and see how AMD's card function these days. My biggest grip over the years has been AMD's drivers and it always seemed you had to poke around to find a version that was stable with your machine. So I'm not looking for flaming wars, Just some nice discussion to help me see AMD's side of things cause I've been in nVidia's space for so long. Thanks all!
  6. Thanks so much for the help all! If I wanted to post updates on the build, where would I post those? I figured this is a kinda unique build using this old tower and dealing with the Alienware daughter board.
  7. Howdy all! So been catching up with the lastest tech and been using the LTT youtubes as a resource. Lo and behold there is a forum. Sweet! The backstory, so wifey isn't a fan of my home built machines, so 10 years ago I bought an Alienware Area 51. It's a giant full size case and just cool. I just replaced that machine for her with a new Alienware Aurora. Now the old Alien is MINE! LOL 1. Budget & Location Home gaming/ editing use. For know I want to keep things under $750 USD 2. Aim Definity want something with plenty of power and future proof. ("ish") I really wnat to be able to crank up the GFX settings on games and still have horsepower to edit videos. I don't plan on needing 4k editing at this point. 3. Monitors Maybe someday running a triple monitor setup would be in the cards. I just got a 144hz 2560x1440 curved monitor. So I'll stick with that res. 4. Peripherals I have a working machine with win10 (Yep can confirm the daughter card from alienware works in win10. So cool!) So maybe a backlit keyboard is next. 5. Why are you upgrading? Cause really want to play Red Dead 2 and be able to crank up the settings. Current Machine Specs i7930- 2.8 ghz 12 Gig ram, (Sorry don't remember the speed) SSD drive GTX 1060 Current Build Plan AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler Sabrent Rocket Q 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive (SB-RKTQ-1TB) MSI Arsenal Gaming AMD Ryzen 2ND and 3rd Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 DVI HDMI Crossfire ATX Motherboard (B450 Tomahawk Max) 32GB (2 x 16GB) some sort of fast memory and a good brand I'm thinking I'll do the core of the system first then upgrade the vid card a few months down the road. Open to suggestions on parts and pieces, and of course any advice.I need to poke around the power supply a little. I would think it's got everything I need to just swap in parts. We upgraded it to the 1100w power supply when we got the machine. what should I look for in types of connectors and such? Thanks in adavance
