Strandox got a reaction from Mister Woof in 2070 Super low fps in BFV
Haha its been a while but my overall system responsiveness has improved and things feel generally faster. BFV runs without stutters on DX11 and feels nice and smooth, still slightly slower performance than I would expect but at least the performance is constant rather than going really high and then dipping down. CPU is performing a bit slow, I think I'm due an upgrade soon anyway because some of my large Pro Tools sessions love that extra core count and speed. Maybe a 3900x is on the table ?, Thanks very much for your help though it it much appreciated

I'm still not seeing the results i would like, I am going to fully reset my PC i think. Hopefully if it acts as a new machine then I will have no issues thanks for all the troubleshooting help though

Schoolboy error by me when removing my overclock a couple of days ago i set the clock speed to 34.00 which i guess means that the cpu is being forced to stay at 34?

DX12 and DX11 seem to have no differance. Sometimes i experience even worse stutters in campaign. A couple of minutes ago i joined a game on operation locker and was experiencing a solid 30fps with frequent stutters.

    Hi Zando,

I'm pretty clued up about the technical specifications and thermals etc and have been troubleshooting this issue for a few days. All components are very cool even when under full synthetic loads. I can safely say that thermals are 100% not the issue. But it seems GPU utilization is extremely low. If you take a look at the link on the first post there is a little video on the sort of gameplay I'm experiencing.

    CPU - Ryzen 5 2600
    GPU - EVGA 2070s FTW3
    RAM - 16gb 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance RGB
    MB - Asus B450-F
    PSU - EVGA 750-G2
    Cooler - Coolermaster Seidon 240 in push/pull

Strandox got a reaction from rweb439 in Choosing an NVME
    Hi Rweb

Most of the motherboards from Gigabyte i have seen support all 3 sizes of m.2 drives. Here is a little webpage i found explaining the differant sizes https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Overview-of-M-2-SSDs-586/#Physicalsizeandconnectors

In regards to what sort of drive you should get, well thats up to you. I assume that you will be running a 3rd generation 3XXX Ryzen processor which supports PCIE Gen 4 (Massive bandwidth, new 4th generation m.2 nvme drives are stupid quick).

With each differant drive you will compromise something:
PCIE 4.0 drives are super duper quick (Gigabyte make one that has a quoted "5000" MB/s read and a "2500" MB/s write speed. This is impressive stuff but since the technology is fairly new you pay a massive premium. A 1TB Gigabyte Aorus PCIE 4.0 drive will cost me £210 or $273. PCIE 3.0 drives are still very quick though (around 3000MB/s read and write depending on the brand). so you've got to question whether you're willing to pay the extra money for more speed or save a bit of cash for the same storage amount whil having ever so slightly slower speeds. Drives from samsung are regarded as very reliable even the 'budget' options. Your choice i guess, I hope this info helps

Haha yes i had been team red on the gpu side of things since 2013. I loved my little r9 270x my god was it a space heater. I was hypnotised into joining the green corner with super cheap 980ti deals on eBay for just £150 ? best way to get into 1080p gaming imho. I can't wait for AMD to make me feel like an idiot for dropping £550 on a gpu. Oh well, it looks nice and overclocks like a beauty.

I will have a look into your suggestions but i think the problem has been solved. And if not i will pray to the gods for a 3900x to fall through the letterbox tomorrow

    Cheers mate!
