  1. Bump. I could really use some advice. This is what I'm thinking. The other components I have. The GPU I'm still unsure of. thinking 2060 Super or 2070? Hopefully find a used one cheap enough? PCPartPicker Part List CPU: Intel Core i3-10100 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($119.99 @ B&H) Motherboard: ASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX LGA1200 Motherboard ($139.99 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($59.58 @ Newegg) Power Supply: EVGA BQ 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply ($63.98 @ Newegg) Total: $383.54 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-09-11 16:16 EDT-0400 I'm thinking I get a decent motherboard and I can always upgrade the cpu down the road.
  2. I would prefer a smaller build. I understand, Hoping to keep it under $600. I have a ssd I can use. For a case I want to use a Silverstone SG13. So I need CPU, Mobo, RAM, PSU, GPU
  3. Budget (including currency): $600-$700 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: World of Warcraft, <2010 titles. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a 4k TV I want to use, I'm not worried about peripherals. I'm on a budget, but I'm not sure where I should be for hardware. I know it needs to be mini itx form factor. So I'm thinking a 10th gen I3? I dont need ultra settings on WoW, but would like to be at higher settings. I'm ok with drops below 60fps. So I'm not too sure what to use for a gpu. I'm totally fine buying used hardware, Just need some suggestions. Thanks
  4. I would prefer under $800 USD, cheaper would be better
  5. I want to be realistic, but I also want to be cheap as possible.
  6. I'll admit right off the bat, I have zero experience with laptops. I've done a little browsing, but I'm not sure what to look for. I'm looking for a "budget" laptop to play WoW. I know that's a very subjective statement. I would hope to run the upcoming expansion on medium-high settings. Other things to consider, I'm impartial to LEDs, flashy looks, so thats not a huge deciding factor. Some opinions/suggestions would be great. Thank you
  7. Thanks for all the info! I appreciate this
  8. I've toyed with this idea for a while, and I think I'm at a point where I want to peruse a build for folding. I understand cpu folding is a waste, does that mean I'm good getting a celeron or similar CPU? Does RAM amount matter? I have a few Ideas for what GPU to grab. Any info/suggestions/criticisms would be appreciated.
  9. I was generously gifted some used, but working at the time pc parts. An I5-4670k, Asus Mobo, 16gb Kingston DDR3, Seasonic Power supply. Shortly after receving these items I installed them into a spare case that I had, I booted it to bios everthing worked and then let it be. Fast forward a couple months. I booted the PC up to install windows, The install completed. Then is when problems started. It froze twice, first trying to download software, then the second time it was just idle. After I forced a shut down It wouldn't power back on. No fans, only an led on the mother board. I went through, reset cmos, reseated all cables. I pulled all RAM but one stick. It booted up so I tested with all RAM and it was fine. Then 2 more freezes, now its back to not powering on, no fans, only led again. I'm stuck, not sure where to start. It is older hardware I understand, but really would like to get it up and running. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give as much info so someone can help me. Thanks
  10. How old is your cooler? If it had been keeping it cool for a time, it may be a sign your cooler is failing.
  11. I know drivers are still a bit of an issue, but maybe a current gen AMD gpu instead of the 580. That would be my only criticism.
  12. I am far from a professional, so some of these other brands may be reliable. If it were me in your shoes I would go with this one https://www.hepsiburada.com/seasonic-s12ii-620-620w-80-bronze-power-supply-sea-s12ii-620-p-BD300643?magaza=Teknobiyotik

Ahh brings back memories of my R9 290 blower card, fan curve set at 75% so it wouldnt throttle....
  14. you can try re mounting with new thermal paste, or get a bigger cooler if the sound bothers you
  15. Clean up the excess around the socket, sure. I personally wouldn't want to get a bunch of rubbing alcohol in the socket.
  16. I haven't personally had to do it, but if it were me, I would use a small plastic pick. Gently work out the majority of the compound. Most of the time thermal compound isnt conductive so it is unlikely you will ruin your cpu or motherboard. Someone was very generous with the thermal compound, its everywhere!
  17. only other thing I can think of is if there is a firmware update for it?
  18. Is there an input lag setting? My Dell monitor has that, I cant use the "fastest" setting otherwise I get some ghosting. That could be what you are experiencing?
  19. Sorry, latency is the wrong word. I mean more along the lines of high resource usage, Just like WoW raids. Simple game, but with lots going on, its taxing on a system. In addition to poor optimazion
  20. I did a quick search and on the developers forum theres people with 1070's and 1070ti's with low fps, sounds like a game issue https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/105854-benchmark-thread/
  21. In the past I've "massaged" the dead pixel and it has fixed it. Otherwise depending on the type of monitor some companies will warranty dead pixels.
