Is the 3900x overkill? I know right now it is, but is it the CPU to have in the long run?

Luna, I understand what you're saying there, but when you drop over a $1000 on a GPU you expect playing your games on max for a while. Is there a perceptible difference between 3440x1440 and 2160x1440? This is a build for my brother. I might convince him to go that route as it will likely be a cakewalk for the system, correct? Can gou tell me what games a 2080 Ti cannot max out? I had no idea

Hello all, Building a desktop for ultrawide gaming. Goal is maxed out graphics with longevity. Based on budget and research, I'm leaning towards the Ryzen 3800x, tomahawk Max mobo and a RTX 2080 TI. I'm sure the graphics would be maxed out now, but how many years might I expect the 2080 TI to be able to do that? It's so expensive and new cards are around the corner. I was going to consider a 2080 Super, but I kept reading that 3440x1440 gaming would likely require the TI to do it right. Also, is that CPU going to get the job done? Thank you.
