  1. I mean the USB ports on my front panel work perfectly fine, so I would assume that it's plugged in correctly, no? If it's still possible for the ports to work and the pin to be pushed back, I can take a look.
  2. Thanks for the reply. I didn't see any bent pins or mangled USB ports/headers. However, as stated in the post, I did have to manually bend a pin on the USB 3.0 header when I was first installing my motherboard to get the connecter from the front panel to plug in. Also, any ideas on what could be causing the system instability?
  3. Hi all, I have a puzzling situation. My gaming PC that I built is crashing when I'm playing games and when I close out of games. The crashes come in the form of BSoDs. The most recent stop codes I've been seeing are "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" and "irql_not_less_or_equal" with the ntoskrnl.exe failing. I will note that the crashes only occur when the system is under load (playing a game). I ALSO noticed that my CPU temps under load get EXTREMELY hot, as in mid-90s hot (using the stock CPU cooler), so I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with it. Here comes the weird part... After the PC attempts to restart, it fails the reboot because of an error screen that reads "Over Current Has Been Detected On Your USB Device!! System will shutdown after 15 seconds to protect your mainboard!!" It will persist after multiple attempts to restart, but after 5-10 minutes of being turned off, I'm able to turn my PC back on. My Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x (no OC) GPU: EVGA RTX 2070 XC (no OC, latest drivers) RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR4 @ 3000 MHz (no OC or XMP Profiles that I know of) Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI (I suspect this could be the culprit, as I purchased it as an open-box unit from Microcenter back in 2020, and I remember having to manually bend a pin on the USB 3.0 header on the board) PSU: Corsair RM1000x 80+ Gold (purchased at the end of 2018) To add more context: Other odd happenings are that my PC rarely just randomly restarts while using it. The restarts don't happen too often, but there have been multiple instances where I'd walk away from my PC and come back to find it restarted and everything I had open was closed. I think I ran a memtest a few months ago that stated hardware problems were detected. I would immediately think my RAM is the culprit, but why would that cause the USB Current Overflow? So bottom line is that I suspect it's my motherboard and possibly my RAM, but before I spend any money, I would really like to make sure I replace the correct parts. I do want to upgrade, but I need to know where to start. If anyone needs more info/context, please feel free to ask. If someone could please point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
  4. I ran all of the tests, still won't go over 20 mbps, I also tested the ethernet cable on a different PC and it worked fine, jumping right up to around 50mbps
  5. I logged onto my router on here and I didn't see an option to do that. I'll doub...triple check that out though. EDIT: Still didn't see the option
  6. I did that and it didn't work. I also tried 1gigabit full duplex but that didn't work either.
  7. I recently built a new computer and when I set it up and started downloading applications/games, I noticed that my download speeds are capped at 20 megabits per second. I have a 50 mbps internet service and every other device seems to be working fine, but when I try a speed test, it just stays right around 20 mbps. I have an ASUS Z270-A motherboard with an Intel ethernet adapter. (Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (5) I219-V) It is a Gigabit port. Please help I am becoming very frustrated as my old PC (using the same ethernet cable, a CAT5) did not have this problem. I have tried switching ports on my router, re-installing drivers, re-booting modem/router just to name a few. EDIT: I tested the ethernet cable on a different PC and it worked perfectly, jumping to 50mbps
  8. Thanks everyone who took time to reply and thanks for all the help!
  9. I will try calling Microsoft and explain my situation, if I have no success doing so, then I would have to buy a new OS, correct?
  10. When you say that the drivers would go crazy, what exactly do you mean and what would I need to do out of the ordinary to make the switch properly?
  11. Okay thanks, I do have a VALID OEM key by the way if that would work, I could also try calling Microsoft as mentioned earlier by another user if that might work also.
  12. I did buy the OEM version, how would I reactivate Windows if I don't have a valid key when I upgrade?
  13. I am planning to upgrade my CPU/Motherboard combination soon (from AMD to Intel, [FX-6100 to i5-4690k to be precise]), but would I have to re-buy Windows? I have a valid Windows 7 key and I have NOT upgraded to Windows 10 on my current hard drive. Is there anything I could do to avoid not re-buying another copy of Windows?
  14. I was wondering what the best TV (around 32 in.) for gaming would be? In other words which TV has the least amount of input lag or maybe even a "gaming" mode feature. I want to spend about a maximum of $300, $350 if I absolutely can't pass it up. I am currently using a PC, but am looking to add an Xbox One/PlayStation 4 to my setup relatively soon. Thanks in advance.
