  1. Ok, let's talk serious about displays for a minute. I'm coming from my Asus PG348Q, a good solid monitor, but with the new build I'm rising up into the stratosphere with my selection of parts and the monitor I've got in my sights is.... (drumroll)... The MSI OPTIX MPG341CQR This monstrous monitor has a 144Hz curved 3440x1440 display with HDR400 and a 1ms response time. I'm interested to know if anyone else is running this display, and what you know about it, what you think about it, do you like it, do you hate it, do you hate the pricetag of this monitor, and if you didn't go with this, what display would you choose instead?
  2. Seems like a power supply issue to me if it's an instant shutdown, like the power just cuts out. That would be the first thing I'd check.
  3. I just recently decided I don't do HDDs anymore in my system unless I'm running a raptor but now I'm finally up to using nothing but M.2 SSDs. The further up you can go the more reliable the drive seems to get from HDD. I hope that you are able to recover your files
  4. https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Tempered-Glass-Mid-Tower-Gaming/dp/B082MZ352P/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=CORSAIR+iCUE+220T+RGB+Tempered+Glass+Mid-Tower+Smart+Case%2C+White+(CC-9011191-WW)&qid=1582666120&sr=8-3 A much better view of this case ^
  5. I would get a cheap external drive dock and hook it up to your computer. If it doesn't register with the dock on your computer something may have happened to the drive, but if it does register that should help you collect the files from the drive.
  6. Well now this motherboard cost me 0 because Amazon just refunded me for it without having to return it, so now I can get a new board. Sponsored by: Amazon.com lol literally
  7. Does that have 1 or 2 M.2 SSD slots? It seems like every board should have at least two so you can actually utilize the speeds of an M.2 drive.
  8. Lol looking at a motherboard comparison chart: 'this one' - $170, 'that one' - $240, 'that one there' - $190, 'the Z390 Godlike' - $600.
  9. The BIOS on my motherboard sucks because it is MSI and pretty broken English, poorly designed, but I will definitely look for that. Thanks!
  10. Ah ok I'm getting a better understanding of how it works now. Thank you all for your input! So it goes to 5.0 GHz when needed makes a lot of sense. I went from a 5960X to this processor and I'm wondering if this change will assist with gaming performance at all. So when needing to hit a 5 GHz speed, if the processor needs to do so, there is nothing I have to activate for it to be able to do that.
  11. Well, so the appeal of the KS at least as advertised is that it can do single and multi-core processes at 5.0 GHz all the time which was what interested me in the first place. So in my mind, what I should be able to do is, when running absolutely nothing, and be sitting at the Windows Desktop, be able to see the CPU running at 5 GHz. Please feel free to correct me in any of this I don't know how this works yet
  12. So, I just yesterday night re-installed my OS and currently I only have a single 512 GB M.2 SSD running in the system. On the 6th I plan on getting 2 more 1 TB SSDs and will then start to re-install Steam and games and things, but, going into the BIOS of my motherboard, the processor shows to be running at 4.0 GHz. I know that I need to turn on an OC feature to move it to 5.0 GHz but have no idea where/how to do that as this is relatively new to me, but I am trying to research and learn. So far I haven't found the answer yet.
  13. So, I really feel like I should know this, but I don't so yay for learning. I now have a build with a running 9900KS and an H150i CLC. But, the processor still runs by default at 4.0 GHz. I've never done any overclocking and I feel like this should be relatively easy, but how the heck do I turn on getting this processor to start running at 5.0 GHz on all 8 cores all the time? I feel like I bought a Ferrari that I'm driving like I own a minivan and the whole appeal of getting the KS was for the 5.0 GHz all cores all the time. Sorry that I don't know this yet, but I'd like to learn how to do this. Especially since the difference between running at 4.0 and 5.0 GHz should be significant. As always, thank you for any time and knowledge you can afford me!
  14. Upcoming Build Schedule:
3/6 - Purchase an MSI OPTIX MPG341CQR display

  15. I will do. This thing is going to be a real champion, I have spared no expense and by the time it is fully finished it will be running two builds with 64 GB of DDR4-4000 in each, on Ax1600i PSUs with nothing but M.2 storage. I think with the second build I'll go AMD side since this side is Intel. Two RTX 2080Ti FTW3 GPUs and, I really can't come up with a better market build to date than that at the moment.
  16. One thing I did do from the get go was bring the BIOS to the most up to date, and this is a very very new market board, so it could be possible that the absolute latest BIOS has bugs with the lightning and maybe they will address and even fix this in a future update.
  17. Not ready yet but I will very soon. I just got my computer back from shop today so I still need to finish the wiring arrangement and I'm probably going to place in some RGB light control case fans so I can make up for the board not lighting, I need to change out the front-facing fan controller, and then, then when it is all prettied up and ready to go, I will reveal my grand design!
  18. I do have a window on my side panel. A window, 5 m.2 slots dedicated, hinge-opening magnetic side doors on my case, a double computer case, case wheels, it's a pretty good build so far.
  19. Yeah and that's probably what I'll do, but that dragon light would have been so awesome :(. Yeah I am sure that I'll be happy with this when I'm using nothing for storage but 5 1TB M.2 SSDs and getting the corresponding transfer speeds at gigs per second. You are quite right, the lighting on the board is a want, and until I find a FULLY ENGLISH motherboard with 5 M.2 SSDs..... I'll probably stick with this one.
  20. Trouble is finding one to match this board's specs. I mean, I wish the lighting worked, but, at the same time the research I've done basically states that the lighting works for about 1 out of 20 people who buy this board, so at least it's not just like I got a bad board. It has 5, yes 5 native M.2 slots onboard and the placement of the PCI-E lanes is excellent. Most Asus boards I've checked out so far have 1 M.2 slot if that onboard, and few to 0 RGB LED options, which sucks. The decision to determine what board to replace this one with is going to be tough.
  21. Yeah there is but it basically does nothing and I've tried updating the firmware, scouring the BIOS for any settings, most of MSI's instructions are barely in English and it is very poor English. The BIOS is fully updated, I think I'm gonna be looking to get a replacement board of a different kind. MSI's best feature is that it looks so badass, but it really doesn't have very good support it seems.
  22. So, as much as I love the way MSI's stuff looks, their instructions for support related to their hardware is quite lacking it seems. Case and point: My MSI MEG Z390 Godlike motherboard. I can't seem to get the Mystic Light and specifically, the light that is supposed to light up the dragon over the chip-set, to work in any way, and I've spent close to two hours Googling anything I can find on how to get this to work with no success. At this point I'm beginning to question if the LED for this feature is even working properly at all or not. But needless to say, any instructions I have found on this so far have been very vague and have not solved this issue. Is anyone else using this motherboard who was able to get this to work somehow? If I can't get this to work, I'm just gonna get a different motherboard. I can't stand having hardware that is broken although admittedly I can't determine if that is the case here.
