  1. Great article, thanks! It's unfortunate that its going on - it makes me a little sad because I respect both CDProjekt's work interpretting The Witcher universe that Mr. Sapkowski dreamed up and I prefer the idea of great minds getting along. I would be thrilled to meet anyone involved in either the books or the games as they both appear to be labors of love, or at least efforts requiring immense integrity.
  2. I completely agree. The Witcher 3 was IMO one of the best games released in years. I knew nothing about the story, but I found the world believable and immersive. I plan to read the books now. If it means taking 6m to a year longer to produce a game of equal or better quality with a unique compelling story they will be doing a justice to the artists/authors. Just curious, does anyone know if Andrzej Sapkowski (author of the Witcher book series) has commented about the quality/accuracy/satisfaction of the inspired video game series? I'm wondering because the interviews with Mike Pondsmith speaking about working with CD Projekt, and he seems to have a positive view about how things are going. The Cyberpunk 2020 (table top RPG) books and supplements are very immersive and I'm excited to see how that universe has developed. Either way, I think the bar is set very high - but I think CD Projekt will deliver.
  3. Well the sparkfun link does have the banana for scale option, so props to whomever agreed to let that make it onto their website. As for the aliexpreess link - Das ist wunderbar! "Modell Flugzeug" thew me for a loop - I was like: I'm not building a model plane - wait, that looks right, i guess I am building a model plane! And potentiometer joystick did improve my results, I'm seeing it more often now. I can't find my caliper but it is very close according to the kitchen ruler. Danke!
  4. Cool, now that i know what else they may be used it it should give me a clearer direction, but good point - I am also concerned about the thumb stick end being too short, thick, etc... i don't think the ROI on a 3d printer would be any time soon, so I'll probably just try a few and see how they work out. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the pictures - looks like that might be a match - any chance is has "RSF" engraved on one side of the metal?
  6. I surprised you said cheaper controllers. I figured you'd get better durability, precision, and function with a metal post. It feels like a much higher quality in my hand now that it's apart, but I suspect that's a bias now since, honestly, I didn't notice until I opened it up. The orange one with metal post has seen as many hours as the other green ones, but i'm replacing the whole stickbox on those at about the time the thumb pads wear out. Thanks, I'll see if any gamecube parts will match.
  7. Hmm, thoughts: Since the cost of buying new controllers is so high, I justified buying tools to repair them instead and at this point it's returned on the investment by just repairing my own controllers instead of buying new ones. The conflict I see with buying used controllers is that the thumb sticks in particular are usually in awful shape. That's precisely the bit that needs repair on this, so swapping out the thumb sticks (even if they matched/fit) would put me right back where I'm at with a worn, slippery, thumb stick. I like having equipment in working order, so required maintenance and repair is something I desire on the equipment I use regularly. As far as it being proprietary - I bought it at a Best Buy, and I've never seen another like it, even in google searches I can't find images that match "xbox one controller white PCB" or anything similar.
  8. I'm looking for some help finding replacement thumb sticks for my wired MS Xbox One Controller. I thought I had all the parts but when I opened it up I was surprised to see a white PCB and a different thumb stick module. The replacement parts I have are meant for the plastic post with the hole in the center and have a wider opening. The white PCB one has orange plastic casing over the sensors on the thumb stick modules and a metal post. The module itself is not in need of replacement, but the other thumb sticks are not designed for it and I can't find replacement parts ANYWHERE. I can't even find a similar image on google and amazon searches. I've spent hours trying to find them and I'm starting to wonder if I have a prototype or something weird. Ultimately, I'm just looking for the thumb stick (pad) designed to fit on the thin metal posts. Does anyone else have one of these with the metal posts and white PCB? I'm seriously stumped here, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Well, then good news, everyone! Game release was delayed 5 months (added to original post)
  10. LTT hasn't done a recent video on this, but Jay convinced me: It doesn't seem like recent titles have supported it, and Jays comment about the drivers/os/game settings being a convoluted development area (earlier in vid) makes a lot of sense of why its not common now.
  11. Yes, I agree. The smart thing would be to wait until its out and test accordingly. I guess I'm operating under the assumption that it will have similar quality to Witcher 3. Interesting discussions here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1091500/discussions/0/1643166649094241142/?ctp=3 I'm probably just stirring while I wait, so I starting asking questions that have impractical/impossibles answers because FUTURE! *Added "Any hardware releases announced that are worth waiting on?" Question to my post.
  12. UPDATE: Let's take another look at this in 5-7 months: https://twitter.com/CDPROJEKTRED/status/1217861009446182912 TL;DR: I want to build a new pc to be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 at (at least) 60fps on a 21:9 consistently. Looking for input/suggestions/note worthy conflicts/concerns. Current PC: GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0 AMD FX-3450 Quad-Core Processor 4.2 GHz Air Cooled, not sure fan/heat sync model 16GB DDR3 RAM AMD Radeon (TM) R7 360 Series Core Clock 1050MHz 2048 MB (GDDR5) Runs Arma 3 like absolute garbage (16-30FPS with min settings) Can barely run Red Dead Redemption 2 (min settings) and crashes to desktop about 20% of the time I go to St. Denis or Blackwater Has been a great companion for the last 6/7 years New Build Thoughts: Budget = $2000 MAX, but if I can get 60fps on 21:9 for less I'd prefer that (no peripherals needed or will upgrade later) I prefer framerate/smoothness over crazy resolutions. I like what the PRIME X570-PRO has to offer and I think it will provide some future upgrade room for me if I go cheaper I was also inspired by two LTT videos: Because: DEAL WITH IT! (This intro nails the style over substance mantra of the Cyberpunk Universe) Bonus: If anyone knows where to get those ridiculous LED shades let me know so I can flex on the chombas in my CP2020 Campaign. Because: X570-PRO, and I love snowstorms/winter/and the super clean look. (I missed the entry date on the newegg giveaway and I'm beating myself up about it) The side panel is dope, but I like alot of the NZXT cases Other Programs: I do CAD 3d modeling but don't have access to Inventor at home so I had to settle for Fustion 360 - so I only sometimes use it I'm pretty fluent with Reason, but only make tracks for my own enjoyment. Questions for the community: Other than the frame rate being my guiding decision - is there anything I've drastically overlooked? Does the X570-Pro deliver on the audiophile side of things? Would two 1080ti's on SLI be a better investment than one 2080ti? Any hardware releases announced that are worth waiting on? (*edit 1) Side notes and seasoning: Watched the trailer and I've never been so excited a game release. The universe was captivating so I dove headfirst down the rabbit hole. Flash forward 6 months and I now have most of the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG books, and have starting building a campaign around an altered map of Boston I've made with plans to convert it to the Cyberpunk Red universe once the core rule book is released. Mike Pondsmith sounds like a really fun guy on all the interviews I've heard/seen and I can tell this universe was a love of labor for him.. I'm really excited to see what the year 2077 looks like, cause so far his 2020 is uncomfortably close to the real thing - I mean I don't sleep in a coffin, but rent sucks bosons and I'd be down for smaller more affordable living spaces. Thanks!
