  1. My specs: Windows 10 Home Edition AMD Ryzen 5 5600x MSI B550 A Pro 2x 8gb Crucial Ballistix RGB 3600mhz (BL2K8G36C16U4BL) running at stock speeds (XMP wasn't stable) ADATA SU800 512 gb SSD with OS EVGA 500W White PSU I've got an MSI B550 A-Pro with a Ryzen 5 5600x. I set it all up about a week and a half ago and it was working perfectly. Today however, upon startup it entered "Starting Automatic Repair" and sat there for about an hour. Eventually, I turned it off and turned it back on to the same message. Investigating the BIOS showed that my CPU was listed only as "AMD" whereas previously it had been recognized as "AMD Ryzen 5 5600x" iirc. I was already on the latest stable bios but I flashed to the latest beta bios incase that fixed my issue to no success. Reaching out to MSI support, they suggested a clean windows install, but I have been unable to boot from the installation media I downloaded on my flashdrive making a clean install or any advanced troubleshooting impossible. What should my next steps be?
  2. Where would the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 fall on this tier list? If it's performance is comparable at all to the Phantom Gaming X PCPartPicker has the 4 for under half the cost as the X. Edit: Looking more closely at the list I'm going to guess that the Phantom Gaming 4 is the same as the PhantomK4 in the C tier
  3. Can I ask why it would be better to sell the whole rig and start fresh rather than give what I have a CPU, motherboard, and ram upgrade?
  4. Fair point. For my sake, given I've never upgraded before what would you suggest if I said I was upgrading now and looking to have all the parts in my hand within the next 4 weeks?
  5. I'll start with the suggested info: Budget & Location (and timing) I'm looking at a budget of around $1000 to upgrade my current rig at some point in the next calendar year. Then I'm looking to do the same the year after. I'm also hoping to reuse a few parts from what I currently have for this sequence of upgrades. For context, what I'm currently running is in the attached Speccy screenshot I was thinking that it made the most sense to upgrade my CPU, Motherboard, Ram and possibly storage on the first year and hit GPU and Monitors on the second. As long as it makes sense, this means I'd be reusing my GTX 1050Ti with whatever new CPU and Motherboard I get this year. Aim My goal is to try my hand at streaming and generally play video games. My games of choice right now tend to be more RTS like AoE3 or They Are Billions but with AoE4 "just around the corner" I'd like a rig that can handle whatever graphics they through on that AND is able to stream with decent enough quality. I do also do a non-zero amount of data analytics with programs like Python and R while also doing a little bit of CAD in Eagle, SolidWorks, and CREO Parametric as is appropriate. No complicated renders though. Monitors I've got two right now that are passable at 60 fps so not interested in upgrading the monitors with this budget, but part two of my upgrade plan is to move to two mid quality gaming monitors like the Acer Nitro XF252Q 24.5" (although that is mostly a placeholder) Peripherals For this upgrade, I'm set on peripherals. I've got a mid level mechanical keyboard and decent gaming mouse so I'm not looking to upgrade that. Monitors are currently slated for an upgrade in 2021, I'm happy enough with what I have right now. Why am I upgrading Well, I'm currently running a i5 3450 which has treated me quite well honestly. But I'm going to have a bit of spare cash laying around in the new year, I've never built my own PC before, and I want to try a little bit of streaming so I figure I'm due for an upgrade.
