If you just installed the HDD, you have to format it. Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Manager. You should find the disk there so you can format it.

What? Don't get too carried away. A glass of bourbon has always helped me when building PCs.

I'm gonna build a pc tomorrow. Is there some extra tricks I should know?

The only trick you need to know is: sweep the leg!

Depending on how prepared you are (like if you watched a full 'how to build a PC' video you are basically fully prepared), you might not need to know extra tricks.
But one thing I can say, is 'visualize' things before build it. Think about if you should fit in the RAM or CPU cooler first, run the 8 pin EPS cable through the cable management hole before placing the motherboard down (and plug the cable in already too), that just makes it easier. Don't forget the IO shield, properly ground yourself before building, have all you tools handy, get a good building space, build outside of the PC first.
Those are mainly the tips I would give, if you are basically properly prepared already.

Don't get in a hurry. Keep everything clean. Ground yourself. When in doubt ask for help. Don't drink alcohol before or during.

It's always the front panel connections.
